The Quantum Algebraic Structure of the Twisted XXZ Chain

We consider the Quantum Inverse Scattering Method with a new R-matrix depending on two parameters $q$ and $t$. We find that the underlying algebraic structure is the two-parameter deformed algebra $SU_{q,t}(2)$ enlarged by introducing an element belonging to the centre. Photometry and dynamics of the minor mergers AM\,1228-260 and AM\,2058-381

We investigate interaction effects on the dynamics and morphology of the galaxy pairs AM\,2058-381 and AM\,1228-260. This work is based on $r'$ images and long-slit spectra obtained with the Gemini Multi-Object Spectrograph at the Gemini South Telescope. The luminosity ratio between the main (AM\,2058A) and secondary (AM\,2058B) components of the first pair is a factor of $\sim$ 5, while for the other pair, the main (AM\,1228A) component is 20 times more luminous than the secondary (AM\,1228B). The four galaxies have pseudo-bulges, with a S\'ersic index $n<2$. Their observed radial velocities profiles (RVPs) present several irregularities. The receding side of the RVP of AM\,2058A is displaced with respect to the velocity field model, while there is a strong evidence that AM\,2058B is a tumbling body, rotating along its major axis. The RVPs for AM\,1228A indicate a misalignment between the kinematic and photometric major axes. The RVP for AM\,1228B is quite perturbed, very likely due to the interaction with AM\,1228A. NFW halo parameters for AM\,2058A are similar to those of the Milky Way and M\,31. The halo mass of AM\,1228A is roughly 10\% that of AM\,2058A. The mass-to-light (M/L) of AM\,2058 agrees with the mean value derived for late-type spirals, while the low M/L for AM\,1228A may be due to the intense star formation ongoing in this galaxy.Comment: 20 pages, 10 figures, accepted for publication in MNRA

Processing of Copper-Graphite-Alumina Powders by High-Energy Milling

Com o apoio RAADRI.Copper-matrix composites are versatile materials used in several electromechanical applications, but relatively low strength and thermal stability impair advanced uses. Development of robust solutions combining low wear and low electrical loss are thus paramount. This work proposes high-energy milling of copper-graphite-alumina powders: graphite is conductive and self-lubricating; alumina toils as dispersion-strengthener and grain refiner. Tailored batches with 2wt%-graphite and 2wt%-alumina were milled up to 16h in planetary ball mill and characterized by XRD, FEG-SEM/EDS, microhardness and Raman. Produced powders are nanostructured, containing graphite and alumina nanoparticles homogeneously distributed in copper. Increasing milling time results in some degree of nanographite amorphization and size decrease. Copper crystallite size and achieved hardness are affected mainly above 4 h milling. Attained results suggest that efficient dispersion of graphite and alumina nanoparticles is achieved, envisaging high conductivity, high strength and thermal stability. The copper-graphite-alumina system thus seemingly opens an opportunity window for PM processing of advanced copper composites

O sistema de avaliação de impacto social da inovação tecnológica agropecuária (Ambitec- Social) consiste de um conjunto de planilhas eletrônicas que integram quatorze indicadores da contribuição de uma dada inovação tecnológica agropecuária para o bem estar social, no âmbito de um estabelecimento rural. Quatro aspectos essenciais de avaliação são considerados: i. Emprego, ii. Renda, iii. Saúde, e iv. Gestão e Administração. Os indicadores são construídos em matrizes de ponderação nas quais dados obtidos em campo, de acordo com o conhecimento do produtor/administrador do estabelecimento, são automaticamente transformados em índices de impacto expressos graficamente. Os resultados da avaliação permitem, ao produtor/administrador, averiguar quais impactos da tecnologia podem estar desconformes com seus objetivos de bem estar social; ao tomador de decisões a indicação de medidas de fomento ou controle da adoção da tecnologia, segundo planos de desenvolvimento local sustentável e finalmente, proporcionam uma unidade de medida objetiva de impacto, auxiliando na qualificação, seleção e transferência de tecnologias agropecuárias.bitstream/CNPMA/5801/1/boletim_35.pd

Porcentagem, perda e digestibilidade in vitro da matéria seca das silagens de 20 genótipos de sorgo.

O objetivo do experimento foi avaliar a digestibilidade in vitro da matéria seca das silagens de 20 genótipos de sorgo, ensilados aos 104 dias de idade em silos de PVC, com 10cm de diâmetro e 40cm de comprimento. Os silos foram abertos 150 dias após a ensilagem para determinação dos teores e perdas de matéria seca (MS), e da digestibilidade in vitro da matéria seca (DIVMS). As diferenças foram verificadas pelo teste SNK e o delineamento experimental adotado foi o inteiramente ao acaso, com três repetições por tratamento. Os teores de MS das silagens variaram de 23,7% a 31,8%, e todas elas apresentaram pequenas perdas de MS. Não houve diferença entre as silagens dos vinte genótipos quanto aos teores de MS e perdas de MS, mas houve diferença na DIVMS. Os híbridos C 22 e CMSXS 756 apresentaram os maiores valores (62,8 e 63,0%) e os híbridos 547 e C 11 os menores valores (54,1 e 55,5%) de DIVMS, respectivamente.ENACHI PESCE, D.M

Quantum corrections to gravity and their implications for cosmology and astrophysics

The quantum contributions to the gravitational action are relatively easy to calculate in the higher derivative sector of the theory. However, the applications to the post-inflationary cosmology and astrophysics require the corrections to the Einstein-Hilbert action and to the cosmological constant, and those we can not derive yet in a consistent and safe way. At the same time, if we assume that these quantum terms are covariant and that they have relevant magnitude, their functional form can be defined up to a single free parameter, which can be defined on the phenomenological basis.
