    Flow-iduced sound in a two-dimensional cavity

    No full text
The flow field of a two dimensional shallow cavity and the sound generated aerodynamically are investigated. The incompressible Navier-Stokes equations are solved directly and the acoustic field is evaluated by means of a simplified form of the Ffowcs Williams and Hawkings model. The aim of this work is to study the differences between compressible and incompressible flow fields in terms of sound production. The evaluation of the acoustic is carried out analyzing the Sound Pressure Level and the intensities of the main acoustic sources. Finally particular attention is focused to the computation of two correlation coefficients between the acoustic pressure and the sound sources since they allow to estimate the influence of different flow regions on the acoustic pressure
