    A systematic review of online interventions for mental health in low and middle income countries : a neglected field

    Background. Low and middle income countries (LMICs) are facing an increase of the impact of mental health problems while confronted with limited resources and limited access to mental health care, known as the ‘mental health gap’. One strategy to reduce the mental health gap would be to utilize the internet to provide more widely-distributed and low cost mental health care. We undertook this systematic review to investigate the effectiveness and efficacy of online interventions in LMICs. Methods. We systematically searched the data-bases PubMed, PsycINFO, JMIR, and additional sources. MeSH terms, Thesaurus, and free text keywords were used. We included all randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of online interventions in LMICs. Results. We found only three articles reported results of RCTs on online interventions for mental health conditions in LMICs, but none of these interventions was compared with an active control condition. Also, the mental health conditions were diverse across the three studies. Conclusions. There is a dearth of studies examining the effect of online interventions in LMICs, so we cannot draw a firm conclusion on its effectiveness. However, given the effectiveness of online interventions in high income countries and sharp increase of internet access in LMICs, online interventions may offer a potential to help reduce the ‘mental health gap’. More studies are urgently needed in LMICs

    A DC-coupled RF Amplifier in CMOS with DC-feedback

    A CMOS multistage RF amplifier with DC coupling is presented. A complete optimisation of the various stages is done to maximize the RF gain for a given power budget. To decrease the effects of offsets and tolerances in high gain multistage amplifiers usually (lossy) AC coupling is used. The presented circuit employs DC coupling and DC control circuitry to avoid coupling-induced\ud losses. Compared to existing competing AC-coupled designs the presented one has much more gain at the same power consumption with a lower die area. For the 3-stage design vehicle, with Rsrc = 500Ω and Cout = 400fF, the maximal signal power gain at 4mA supply current is 33dB at 1.9GHz

    A combined receiver front-end for Bluetooth and HiperLAN/2

    A Software Defined Radio is a radio receiver that is reconfigurable by software. This reconfigurability leads to flexibility that can be used to offer more functionality to the user. Also, because common reconfigurable hardware can be used for very diverse radio interfaces, production and logistics can be faster and cheaper. In our Software Defined Radio project we aim at a receiver that is able to receive signals of any contemporary or future radio standard. However, because we need tangible specifications in order to design, we have chosen to implement a combination of two rather different standards: Bluetooth and HiperLAN/2. Both the analogue and the digital/software parts are included in the design. A CMOS integrated wideband analogue front-end containing a low noise amplifier, downconversion mixers and filters has been designed. This front-end\ud is connected to a PCB that contains two analogue-to-digital convertors and a sample rate convertor (SRC). The output of this board is connected to a standard PC through a digital I/O board with PCI bus. Software on this PC performs the demodulation.\ud We conclude that an analog wide-band front-end with a flexible SRC combined with appropriate software on an inherently flexible PC forms a promising architecture for Software Defined Radio

    A superfluid hydrodynamic model for the enhanced moments of inertia of molecules in liquid 4He

    We present a superfluid hydrodynamic model for the increase in moment of inertia, ΔI\Delta I, of molecules rotating in liquid 4^4He. The static inhomogeneous He density around each molecule (calculated using the Orsay-Paris liquid 4^4He density functional) is assumed to adiabatically follow the rotation of the molecule. We find that the ΔI\Delta I values created by the viscousless and irrotational flow are in good agreement with the observed increases for several molecules [ OCS, (HCN)2_2, HCCCN, and HCCCH3_3 ]. For HCN and HCCH, our model substantially overestimates ΔI\Delta I. This is likely to result from a (partial) breakdown of the adiabatic following approximation.Comment: 4 pages, 1 eps figure, corrected version of published paper.     A wideband supply modulator for 20MHz RF bandwidth polar PAs in 65nm CMOS

    A wideband modulator for a 20MHz bandwidth polar modulated PA is presented which achieves a maximum efficiency of 87.5% and a small signal -3dB bandwidth of 285MHz. Realized in 65nm CMOS, it consists of a cascoded nested Miller compensated linear amplifier and a class D switching amplifier. It can deliver 22.7dBm output power to a 5.3Ω load.
