    About the maximal rank of 3-tensors over the real and the complex number field

    High dimensional array data, tensor data, is becoming important in recent days. Then maximal rank of tensors is important in theory and applications. In this paper we consider the maximal rank of 3 tensors. It can be attacked from various viewpoints, however, we trace the method of Atkinson-Stephens(1979) and Atkinson-Lloyd(1980).     Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik kimia dan organoleptik pada irisan buah Pisang yang disimpan disuhu rendah dan dilakukan di Laboratorirum Pengolahan Pangan dan Laboratorium Kimia Ilmu dan Teknologi Pangan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Rancangan Acak Lengkap yaitu, waktu penyimpanan yang terdiri dari 3 taraf (hari ke-0, hari ke-3 dan hari ke-6) dan dilakukan sebanyak 3 kali pengulangan. Tahapan penelitian meliputi pengampilan sampel danpreparasi sampel, pengujian (vitamin C, TAT, TPT, pH, Organoleptik). Berdasarkan analisis yang dilakuakan menunjukan bahwa kandungan vitamin C, TAT dan pH tertinggi terdapat pada perlakuan penyimpanan selama 0 hari dengan nilai secara berturu-turut 3,54 mg/100gr, 0,9% dan 5,400. Sedangkan terendah terdapat pada perlakuan penyimpanan selama6hari dengan nilai secara berturuturut 0,85 mg/100gr, 0,6% dan 5,561. Pada TPT mengalami kenaikan selama penyimpanan disuhu rendah, dimana nilai tertinggi terdapat pada hari ke 6 yaitu 20% dan terendah terdapat pada hari ke 0 yaitu 10%. Seangkan pada organoleptik warna, rasa, aroma, dan penampakan mengalami penurunan selama penyimpanan berlangsung

    Low dark current N structure superlattice MWIR photodetectors

    Commercially available read out integrated circuits (ROICs) require the FPA to have high dynamic resistance area product at zero bias (R0A) which is directly related to dark current of the detector. Dark current arises from bulk and surface contributions. Recent band structure engineering studies significantly suppressed the bulk contribution of the type-II superlattice infrared photodetectors (N structure, M structure, W structure). In this letter, we will present improved dark current results for unipolar barrier complex supercell superlattice system which is called as "N structure". The unique electronic band structure of the N structure increases electron-hole overlap under bias, significantly. N structure aims to improve absorption by manipulating electron and hole wavefunctions that are spatially separated in T2SLs, increasing the absorption while decreasing the dark current. In order to engineer the wavefunctions, we introduce a thin AlSb layer between InAs and GaSb layers in the growth direction which also acts as a unipolar electron barrier. Despite the difficulty of perfect lattice matching of InAs and AlSb, such a design is expected to reduce dark current. Experiments were carried out on Single pixel with mesa sizes of 100 × 100 - 700 × 700 μm photodiodes.     Low-frequency noise behavior at reverse bias region in InAs/GaSb superlattice photodiodes on mid-wave infrared

    We describe a relationship between the noise characterization and activation energy of InAs/GaSb superlattice Mid- Wavelength-Infrared photodiodes for different passivation materials applied to the device. The noise measurements exhibited a frequency dependent plateau (i.e. 1/f-noise characteristic) for unpassivated as well as Si3N4 passivated samples whereas 1/f-type low noise suppression (i.e. frequency independent plateau) with a noise current reduction of more than one order of magnitude was observed for SiO2 passivation. For reverse bias values below -0.15V, the classical Schottky-noise calculation alone did not appear to describe the noise mechanism in a SL noise behavior, which shows a divergence between theoretically and experimentally determined noise values. We identify that, the additional noise appears, with and without passivation, at the surface activation energy of < 60 meV and is inversely proportional to the reverse bias. This is believed to be caused by the surface dangling-bonds (as well as surface states) whose response is controlled by the applied reverse bias. The calculated noise characteristics showed a good agreement with the experimental data. © 2013 SPIE

    Passivation of type II InAs/GaSb superlattice photodetectors with atomic layer deposited Al2O3

    We have achieved significant improvement in the electrical performance of the InAs/GaSb midwave infrared photodetector (MWIR) by using atomic layer deposited (ALD) aluminium oxide (Al2O3) as a passivation layer. Plasma free and low operation temperature with uniform coating of ALD technique leads to a conformal and defect free coverage on the side walls. This conformal coverage of rough surfaces also satisfies dangling bonds more efficiently while eliminating metal oxides in a self cleaning process of the Al2O3 layer. Al2O3 passivated and unpassivated diodes were compared for their electrical and optical performances. For passivated diodes the dark current density was improved by an order of magnitude at 77 K. The zero bias responsivity and detectivity was 1.33 A/W and 1.9 x 1013 Jones, respectively at 4 μm and 77 K. Quantum efficiency (QE) was determined as %41 for these detectors. © 2012 SPIE

    Atomic layer deposited Al 2O 3 passivation of type II InAs/GaSb superlattice photodetectors

    Taking advantage of the favorable Gibbs free energies, atomic layer deposited (ALD) aluminum oxide (Al 2O 3) was used as a novel approach for passivation of type II InAs/GaSb superlattice (SL) midwave infrared (MWIR) single pixel photodetectors in a self cleaning process (λ cut-off ∼ 5.1 m). Al 2O 3 passivated and unpassivated diodes were compared for their electrical and optical performances. For passivated diodes, the dark current density was improved by an order of magnitude at 77 K. The zero bias responsivity and detectivity was 1.33 A/W and 1.9 × 10 13 Jones, respectively at 4μm and 77 K. Quantum efficiency (QE) was determined as 41 for these detectors. This conformal passivation technique is promising for focal plane array (FPA) applications. © 2012 American Institute of Physics

    The temporal reliability of serum estrogens, progesterone, gonadotropins, SHBG and urinary estrogen and progesterone metabolites in premenopausal women

    BACKGROUND: There is little existing research to guide researchers in estimating the minimum number of measurement occasions required to obtain reliable estimates of serum estrogens, progesterone, gonadotropins, sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG), and urinary estrogen and progesterone metabolites in premenopausal women. METHODS: Using data from a longitudinal study of 34 women with a mean age of 42.3 years (SD = 2.6), we calculated the minimum number of measurement occasions required to obtain reliable estimates of 12 analytes (8 in blood, 4 in urine). Five samples were obtained over 1 year: at baseline, and after 1, 3, 6, and 12 months. We also calculated the percent of true variance accounted for by a single measurement and intraclass correlation coefficients (ICC) between measurement occasions. RESULTS: Only 2 of the 12 analytes we examined, SHBG and estrone sulfate (E(1)S), could be adequately estimated by a single measurement using a minimum reliability standard of having the potential to account for 64% of true variance. Other analytes required from 2 to 12 occasions to account for 81% of the true variance, and 2 to 5 occasions to account for 64% of true variance. ICCs ranged from 0.33 for estradiol (E(2)) to 0.88 for SHBG. Percent of true variance accounted for by single measurements ranged from 29% for luteinizing hormone (LH) to 92% for SHBG. CONCLUSIONS: Experimental designs that take the natural variability of these analytes into account by obtaining measurements on a sufficient number of occasions will be rewarded with increased power and accuracy

    Direct prediction of genetic aberrations from pathology images in gastric cancer with swarm learning.

    BACKGROUND Computational pathology uses deep learning (DL) to extract biomarkers from routine pathology slides. Large multicentric datasets improve performance, but such datasets are scarce for gastric cancer. This limitation could be overcome by Swarm Learning (SL). METHODS Here, we report the results of a multicentric retrospective study of SL for prediction of molecular biomarkers in gastric cancer. We collected tissue samples with known microsatellite instability (MSI) and Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) status from four patient cohorts from Switzerland, Germany, the UK and the USA, storing each dataset on a physically separate computer. RESULTS On an external validation cohort, the SL-based classifier reached an area under the receiver operating curve (AUROC) of 0.8092 (± 0.0132) for MSI prediction and 0.8372 (± 0.0179) for EBV prediction. The centralized model, which was trained on all datasets on a single computer, reached a similar performance. CONCLUSIONS Our findings demonstrate the feasibility of SL-based molecular biomarkers in gastric cancer. In the future, SL could be used for collaborative training and, thus, improve the performance of these biomarkers. This may ultimately result in clinical-grade performance and generalizability

    Circulating soluble Fas levels and risk of ovarian cancer

    BACKGROUND: Dysregulation of apoptosis, specifically overexpression of soluble Fas (sFas), has been proposed to play a role in the development of ovarian cancer. The main objective of the present study was to evaluate serum sFas as a potential biomarker of ovarian cancer risk. METHODS: The association between serum sFas levels and the risk of ovarian cancer was examined in a case-control study nested within three prospective cohorts in New York (USA), Umeå (Sweden), and Milan (Italy). Case subjects were 138 women with primary invasive epithelial ovarian cancer diagnosed between 2 months and 13.2 years after the initial blood donation. Control subjects were 263 women who were free of cancer, and matched the case on cohort, menopausal status, age, and enrollment date. Serum sFas levels were determined using a quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay. RESULTS: Serum sFas levels were similar in women subsequently diagnosed with ovarian cancer (median, 6.5 ng/mL; range, 4.4 – 10.2) and in controls (median, 6.8 ng/mL; range, 4.5 – 10.1). Statistically significant trends of increasing serum sFas with age were observed among cases (r = 0.39, p < 0.0001) and controls (r = 0.42, p < 0.0001). Compared to women in the lowest third, women in the highest third of serum sFas were not at increased risk of ovarian cancer after adjustment for potential confounders (odd ratio (OR), 0.87; 95% confidence interval (CI), 0.42 – 1.82). CONCLUSION: The results suggest that serum sFas may not be a suitable marker for identification of women at increased risk of ovarian cancer
