Use of a Multi-tiered Framework to Analyze Commercial, Cause and Social Marketing Strategies in Sport
Marketing can be described as commercial, cause-related or social depending on the locus of benefit, the objective / outcomes desired and the focus of exchange. Social marketing has been described as the application of marketing technologies designed to influence the voluntary behavior of a target audience to improve personal and societal welfare (Andreasen 1995). Increasingly sport organizations have been engaging in social marketing which has a unique set of objectives and outcomes. To date, few studies have appeared in which the use of social marketing strategies were examined in sport. As a result, the purpose of this paper is to identify the distinct differences between social marketing, cause-related marketing and commercial marketing Through development of a multi-tiered marketing framework, analysis of each approach will be undertaken to illuminate the use of each strategy in sport to achieve both economic and non-economic marketing related objectives
An economic survey of New Zealand wheatgrowers : financial analysis, 1981-82
The purpose of this economic analysis is to provide financial data relating to those New Zealand wheatgrowing farms that participated in the 1981-82 wheat enterprise survey. The analysis was based upon the annual financial statements prepared for wheatgrowers by their accountants
Chaetognaths and oceanography on Georges Bank
A dense breeding population of chaetognaths, Sagitta elegans, was observed on northeastern Georges Bank during autumn, 1978. Four grid surveys conducted on the northeast region of the Bank over the period 17-30 October 1978 revealed that the high concentration patch of adult S. elegans. about 56 km on long axis, remained essentially on the eastern part of the grid in weakly stratified water of 67 m average depth. Current meter measurements indicated residual flow to the southeast sufficiently high to transport a passively drifting organism out of the area over the two weeks of study. Discrete vertical sampling showed that the reproductively mature adults underwent extensive migration from surface to near bottom by day in response to the solar cycle. The smaller immature stages did not migrate vertically or only had limited range; they were found throughout the water column, both day and night, and were spread across the shallow well-mixed as well as deeper weakly stratified waters. Using current meter records, transport of the migrating adults and essentially nonmigrating immature stages of the S. elegans population at different sites within the study area was modeled. The simulations revealed that the migration of adults to near bottom for several hours of the day, where the current was assumed to approach zero, resulted in a longer residence time on the Bank than for nonmigrating immatures. More importantly, it is shown how the strong lunar tidal regime characteristic of Georges Bank may be an important mechanism for generating smaller scale variability on the order of \u3c50 km and \u3c2 weeks
New Zealand arable sector : foreign exchange implications
This report presents the findings of a study into the foreign exchange earnings of the arable sector in New Zealand. The F.O.B. value of arable sector products (or C.I.F. value of wheat) is assessed and from this the foreign exchange component of crop inputs is deducted. The major cropping
enterprises are then compared with livestock production in the arable sector. In Chapter 2 the basic concept for assessing the foreign exchange (F.E.) of on farm production costs is discussed in detail while Chapter 3 describes the arable
sector in New Zealand and assesses the volume and value of arable production as well as trends in land use patterns.
Chapter 4 evaluates the foreign exchange requirement (imports) of the major crop and Livestock enterprises in the arable
sector while the gross foreign exchange earnings (exports) of these enterprises are assessed in Chapter 5. Chapter 6 compares the net foreign exchange earnings with the returns actually experienced by the grower and looks at the foreign exchange earnings of various band use options. Chapter 7
concludes the report
An economic survey of New Zealand wheatgrowers : survey no. 2
This is survey number 2. No. 1 was know as "National wheatgrowers' survey"This Report is the second in an annual series of economic
surveys of New Zealand wheatgrowing farms. These surveys have been undertaken by the Agricultural Economics Research Unit
at Lincoln College on behalf of Wheat Growers Sub-Section of
Federated Farmers of New Zealand Inc.
Specific attention has been focused on the physical
characteristics of wheatgrowing farms, the area of wheat and
other crops sown, wheat yields, cultural practices and costs and
returns for the 1977/78 wheat crop. An attempt has also been
made to allocate plant and machinery overhead costs to the wheat
enterprise on both an historical and current cost basis.
The need for current and detailed information from the
Survey involved two visits to the farms in the sample; one in
the spring following drilling and the second in the autumn after
harvest
Geologic Mapping of the Aristarchus Plateau Region on the Moon
Aristarchus plateau (~25 N, 40 W) is a volcanologically diverse region containing sinuous rilles, volcanic depressions, mare material of various ages - including a candidate for the youngest mare unit on the lunar surface - pyroclastic deposits, and material of possible highland origin [1-5]. Here, we present preliminary mapping of a 13deg x 10deg area around Aristarchus plateau [6]. Interpretations of the region s volcanic evolution have implications for the global history of lunar volcanism, the crustal and mantle development of the Moon, and may ultimately help support successful lunar exploration [7]
Effective practices of international volunteering for health : perspectives from partner organizations
Abstract: The demand for international volunteer experiences to promote global health and nutrition is increasing and numerous studies have documented the experiences of the international volunteers who travel abroad; however, little is known about effective practices from the perspective of partner organizations. This study aims to understand how variables such as the skill-level of volunteers, the duration of service, cultural and language training, and other key variables affect partner organizationsâ perceptions of volunteer effectiveness at promoting healthcare and nutrition..
