    Restricted equilibrium ensembles: Exact equation of state of a model glass

    We investigate the thermodynamic properties of a toy model of glasses: a hard-core lattice gas with nearest neighbor interaction in one dimension. The time-evolution is Markovian, with nearest-neighbor and next-nearest neighbor hoppings, and the transition rates are assumed to satisfy detailed balance condition, but the system is non-ergodic below a glass temperature. Below this temperature, the system is in restricted thermal equilibrium, where both the number of sectors, and the number of accessible states within a sector grow exponentially with the size of the system. Using partition functions that sum only over dynamically accessible states within a sector, and then taking a quenched average over the sectors, we determine the exact equation of state of this system.Comment: 6 pages, 2 figure

    The problem with churches today is the reduced interest of young people in the church activities. The church needs to evaluate the youth ministry that have been doing, so the church be able to see the effectiveness of each activity they did to reach young people. The purpose of this research is to find out the influence of youth-based contextual services to the growth of Gereja Kemah Injil Indonesia in Samarinda City. To achieve this, the author uses the method of multiple linear analysis to see the effect of contextual youth services on church growth. After conducting research, it was found that there was a significant influence between contextual youth services on the growth of the quantity of the Gereja Kemah Injil Indonesia in Samarinda City. Contextual based youth ministry is an answer that needs to be considered so the church can provide services that are relevant to the lives of modern young people who live in their particular culture. On other side, contextual based youth ministry to help church services be effective for reaching the millennial generation

    A novel laser ranging system for measurement of ground-to-satellite distances

    A technique was developed for improving the precision of laser ranging measurements of ground-to-satellite distances. The method employs a mode-locked laser transmitter and utilizes an image converter tube equipped with deflection plates in measuring the time of flight of the laser pulse to a distant retroreflector and back. Samples of the outgoing and returning light pulses are focussed on the photocathode of the image converter tube, whose deflection plates are driven by a high-voltage 120 MHz sine wave derived from a very stable oscillator. From the relative positions of the images produced at the output phosphor by the two light pulses, it is possible to make a precise determination of the fractional amount by which the time of flight exceeds some large integral multiple of the period of the deflection sinusoid

    Excitation Energy Dependence of the Exciton Inner Ring

    We report on the excitation energy dependence of the inner ring in the exciton emission pattern. The contrast of the inner ring is found to decrease with lowering excitation energy. Excitation by light tuned to the direct exciton resonance is found to effectively suppress excitation-induced heating of indirect excitons and facilitate the realization of a cold and dense exciton gas. The excitation energy dependence of the inner ring is explained in terms of exciton transport and cooling.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure

One of them which is discussed in this research is the implementation of quality product improvement in increasing product sale. The objective of this research is to investigate the effect or the role of quality product improvement in increasing its sale in Textile Fabric of Boi Tulus Sianipar in Toba Samosir regency. This research also concerns on unique product of one area compared with others. Based on the data gathered and data analysis, it is concluded that the improvement of quality product affects its sale

    Ballistic spin transport in exciton gases

    Traditional spintronics relies on spin transport by charge carriers, such as electrons in semiconductor crystals. This brings several complications: the Pauli principle prevents the carriers from moving with the same speed; Coulomb repulsion leads to rapid dephasing of electron flows. Spin-optronics is a valuable alternative to traditional spintronics. In spin-optronic devices the spin currents are carried by electrically neutral bosonic quasi-particles: excitons or exciton-polaritons. They can form highly coherent quantum liquids and carry spins over macroscopic distances. The price to pay is a finite life-time of the bosonic spin carriers. We present the theory of exciton ballistic spin transport which may be applied to a range of systems where bosonic spin transport has been reported, in particular, to indirect excitons in coupled GaAs/AlGaAs quantum wells. We describe the effect of spin-orbit interaction of electrons and holes on the exciton spin, account for the Zeeman effect induced by external magnetic fields, long range and short range exchange splittings of the exciton resonances. We also consider exciton transport in the non-linear regime and discuss the definitions of exciton spin current, polarization current and spin conductivity.Comment: 16 pages, 10 figures to be published in Phys.     Upaya Peningkatan Pola Berpikir Kritis Siswa dengan Menggunakan Metode Pbl (Problem Based Learning) pada Mata Pelajaran Biologi sebuah Penelitian Kelas di SMA Dharma Karya Ut

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan berfikir kritis siswa, keaktifan siswa, peningkatan hasil belajar siswa, peningkatan afektif dan psikimotor siswa yang dilihat dari hasil tes, dalam pembelajaran biologi dengan metode PBL (Problem Based Learning) di SMA Dharma Karya UT. Subyek penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas X sebagai kelas eksperimen (metode PBL) di SMA Dharma Karya UT, tahun pelajaran 2012/2013, masing-masing kelas terdiri dari 22 siswa. Penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK). Secara garis besar pelaksanaan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dilakukan melalui siklus-siklus, yang pada setiap siklusnya terdiri dari empat tahap, yaitu (1) Tahap perencanaan (Planning), (2) Tahap Pelaksanaan Tindakan (Acting), (3) Tahap Pengamatan (Observing), dan (4) Tahap refleksi (Reflecting). Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan True Experimental Design. Pengambilan sampel secara simple random sampling. Kelas X sebagai kelas eksperimen. Variabel dalam penelitian meliputi model pembelajaran PBL (Problem Based Learning) sebagai variabel bebas dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa sebagai variabel terikat. Hasil analisis data menunjukan bahwa penelitian pembelajaran dengan metode PBL (Problem Based Learning) hasilnya lebih baik. Seperti dalam hal prestasi belajar siswa yang terlihat dalam kemampuan siswa menjawab hasil tes yang diberikan setelah mengikuti medote PBL (Problem Based Learning), aktifitas siswa dan juga aktifitas guru. Dalam metode PBL ini mampu meningkatkan pola berfikir kritis siswa yang dapat dilihat dari hasil ketuntasan belajar siswa, meningkatkan aktifitas siswa, dan juga aktifitas guru sesuai yang diharapkan
