    Photothermal characterization of encapsulant materials for photovoltaic modules

    Get PDF
    A photothermal test matrix and a low cost testing apparatus for encapsulant materials of photovoltaic modules were defined. Photothermal studies were conducted to screen and rank existing as well as future encapsulant candidate materials and/or material formulations in terms of their long term physiochemical stability under accelerated photothermal aging conditions. Photothermal characterization of six candidate pottant materials and six candidate outer cover materials were carried out. Principal products of photothermal degradation are identified. Certain critical properties are also monitored as a function of photothermal aging

    Intrinsic electronic superconducting phases at 60 K and 90 K in double-layer YBa2_2Cu3_3O6+δ_{6+\delta}

    Full text link
    We study superconducting transition temperature (TcT_c) of oxygen-doped double-layer high-temperature superconductors YBa2_2Cu3_3O6+δ_{6+\delta} (0 ≤\le δ\delta ≤\le 1) as a function of the oxygen dopant concentration (δ\delta) and planar hole-doping concentration (PplP_{pl}). We find that TcT_c, while clearly influenced by the development of the chain ordering as seen in the TcT_c vs.vs. δ\delta plot, lies on a universal curve originating at the critical hole concentration (PcP_c) = 1/16 in the TcT_c vs.vs. PplP_{pl} plot. Our analysis suggests that the universal behavior of TcT_c(PplP_{pl}) can be understood in terms of the competition and collaboration of chemical-phases and electronic-phases that exist in the system. We conclude that the global superconductivity behavior of YBa2_2Cu3_3O6+δ_{6+\delta} as a function of doping is electronically driven and dictated by pristine electronic phases at magic doping numbers that follow the hierarchical order based on PcP_c, such as 2 ×\times PcP_c, 3 ×\times PcP_c and 4 ×\times PcP_c. We find that there are at least two intrinsic electronic superconducting phases of TcT_c = 60 K at 2 ×\times PcP_c = 1/8 and TcT_c = 90 K at 3 ×\times PcP_c = 3/16.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figure

    Phase diagram of the two-chain Hubbard model

    Full text link
    We have calculated the charge gap and spin gap for the two-chain Hubbard model as a function of the on-site Coulomb interaction and the interchain hopping amplitude. We used the density matrix renormalization group method and developed a method to calculate separately the gaps numerically for the symmetric and antisymmetric modes with respect to the exchange of the chain indices. We have found very different behaviors for the weak and strong interaction cases. Our calculated phase diagram is compared to the one obtained by Balents and Fisher using the weak coupling renormalization group technique.Comment: 4 pages, 6 figures, to appear in PR

    Hepatitis C in Haematological Patients

    Get PDF
    There is no consensus guideline concerning the management of chronic hepatitis C patients during chemotherapy, and immunosuppression. However, there are some suggestions in literature that hepatitis C viral load increases during chemotherapy and there is a risk of rebound immunity against hepatitis C after discontinuation of immunosuppression with a consequent liver injury. A close monitoring of liver function of these patients is prudent during treatment of haematological malignancy. Antiviral treatment is deferred after the completion of chemotherapy and recovery of patients' immunity to minimize the toxicity of treatment. A combination of pegylated interferon and ribavirin is the standard therapy in hepatitis C infected haematological patients

    An Update in Management of Noncutaneous T-Cell Lymphomas

    T-cell lymphoma is a heterogeneous group of diseases. Except for ALK positive anaplastic large cell lymphoma, T-cell lymphoma responds to conventional chemotherapy unfavourably, and most patients carry poor prognosis. In recent years, efforts have been made to improve the outcome of T-cell lymphoma patients. Novel agents, high-dose therapy, and allogeneic stem cell transplantation are studied, and various results are reported in literature. This paper looks into the prognostication and treatment approach of different entities of noncutaneous T-cell lymphoma and would focus on the latest updates in its management

    Multiphoton entanglement through a Bell multiport beam splitter

    Full text link
    Multiphoton entanglement is an important resource for linear optics quantum computing. Here we show that a wide range of highly entangled multiphoton states, including W-states, can be prepared by interfering single photons inside a Bell multiport beam splitter and using postselection. A successful state preparation is indicated by the collection of one photon per output port. An advantage of the Bell multiport beam splitter is that it redirects the photons without changing their inner degrees of freedom. The described setup can therefore be used to generate polarisation, time-bin and frequency multiphoton entanglement, even when using only a single photon source.Comment: 8 pages, 2 figures, carefully revised version, references adde

    AbstractIn this paper, long-time strong wave condition is defined according to the comparison between the China's Ocean and the Indian Ocean, as well the characteristic of long-time strong wave condition is described. Combined with practical works, the effects of long-time strong wave condition on breakwater construction are analyzed. Some specific construction measures, including placement of rock material, wave prediction and breakwater head protection during construction period, are introduced. Some valuable references are provided for similar projects in the future
