Identification of Berezin-Toeplitz deformation quantization
We give a complete identification of the deformation quantization which was
obtained from the Berezin-Toeplitz quantization on an arbitrary compact Kaehler
manifold. The deformation quantization with the opposite star-product proves to
be a differential deformation quantization with separation of variables whose
classifying form is explicitly calculated. Its characteristic class (which
classifies star-products up to equivalence) is obtained. The proof is based on
the microlocal description of the Szegoe kernel of a strictly pseudoconvex
domain given by Boutet de Monvel and Sjoestrand.Comment: 26 page
Direct Detection of Electroweak-Interacting Dark Matter
Assuming that the lightest neutral component in an SU(2)L gauge multiplet is
the main ingredient of dark matter in the universe, we calculate the elastic
scattering cross section of the dark matter with nucleon, which is an important
quantity for the direct detection experiments. When the dark matter is a real
scalar or a Majorana fermion which has only electroweak gauge interactions, the
scattering with quarks and gluon are induced through one- and two-loop quantum
processes, respectively, and both of them give rise to comparable contributions
to the elastic scattering cross section. We evaluate all of the contributions
at the leading order and find that there is an accidental cancellation among
them. As a result, the spin-independent cross section is found to be

An international multicentre evaluation of treatment strategies for combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma
BACKGROUND & AIMS: Management of combined hepatocellular-cholangiocarcinoma (cHCC-CCA) is not well-defined. Therefore, we evaluated the management of cHCC-CCA using an online hospital-wide multicentre survey sent to expert centres.
METHODS: A survey was sent to members of the European Network for the Study of Cholangiocarcinoma (ENS-CCA) and the International Cholangiocarcinoma Research Network (ICRN), in July 2021. To capture the respondents\u27 contemporary decision-making process, a hypothetical case study with different tumour size and number combinations was embedded.
RESULTS: Of 155 surveys obtained, 87 (56%) were completed in full and included for analysis. Respondents represented Europe (68%), North America (20%), Asia (11%), and South America (1%) and included surgeons (46%), oncologists (29%), and hepatologists/gastroenterologists (25%). Two-thirds of the respondents included at least one new patient with cHCC-CCA per year. Liver resection was reported as the most likely treatment for a single cHCC-CCA lesion of 2.0-6.0 cm (range: 73-93%) and for two lesions, one up to 6 cm and a second well-defined lesion of 2.0 cm (range: 60-66%). Nonetheless, marked interdisciplinary differences were noted. Surgeons mainly adhered to resection if technically feasible, whereas up to half of the hepatologists/gastroenterologists and oncologists switched to alternative treatment options with increasing tumour burden. Fifty-one (59%) clinicians considered liver transplantation as an option for patients with cHCC-CCA, with the Milan criteria defining the upper limit of inclusion. Overall, well-defined cHCC-CCA treatment policies were lacking and management was most often dependent on local expertise.
CONCLUSIONS: Liver resection is considered the first-line treatment of cHCC-CCA, with many clinicians supporting liver transplantation within limits. Marked interdisciplinary differences were reported, depending on local expertise. These findings stress the need for a well-defined multicentre prospective trial comparing treatments, including liver transplantation, to optimise the therapeutic management of cHCC-CCA.

Ginzburg-Landau Theory for a p-Wave Sr_2RuO_4 Superconductor: Vortex Core Structure and Extended London Theory
Based on a two dimensional odd-parity superconducting order parameter for
Sr_2RuO_4 with p-wave symmetry, we investigate the single vortex and vortex
lattice structure of the mixed phase near H_{c1}. Ginzburg-Landau calculations
for a single vortex show a fourfold structure with an orientation depending on
the microscopic Fermi surface properties. The corresponding extended London
theory is developed to determine the vortex lattice structure and we find near
H_{c1} a centered rectangular vortex lattice. As the field is increased from
H_{c1} this lattice continuously deforms until a square vortex lattice is
achieved. In the centered rectangular phase the field distribution, as
measurable through \mu-SR experiments, exhibits a characteristic two peak
structure (similar to that predicted in high temperature and borocarbide

Vortex lattice structures of SrRuO
The vortex lattice structures of SrRuO for the odd parity
representations of the superconducting state are examined for the magnetic
field along the crystallographic directions. Particular emphasis is placed upon
the two dimensional representation which is believed to be relevant to this
material. It is shown that when the zero-field state breaks time reversal
symmetry, there must exist two superconducting transitions when there is a
finite field along a high symmetry direction in the basal plane. Also it is
shown that a square vortex lattice is expected when the field is along the
-axis. The orientation of the square lattice with respect to the underlying
ionic lattice yields information as to which Ru 4d orbitals are relevant to the

Determination of the Coherence Length and the Cooper-Pair Size in Unconventional Superconductors by Tunnelling Spectroscopy
The main purpose of the paper is to discuss a possibility of the
determination of the values of the coherence length and the Cooper-pair size in
unconventional superconductors by using tunnelling spectroscopy. In the mixed
state of type-II superconductors, an applied magnetic field penetrates the
superconductor in the form of vortices which form a regular lattice. In
unconventional superconductors, the inner structure of a vortex core has a
complex structure which is determined by the order parameter of the
superconducting state and by the pairing wavefunction of the Cooper pairs. In
clean superconductors, the spatial variations of the order parameter and the
pairing wavefunction occur over the distances of the order of the coherence
length and the Cooper-pair size, respectively. Therefore, by performing
tunnelling spectroscopy along a line passing through a vortex core, one is
able, in principle, to estimate the values of the coherent length and the

Proteins associated with pancreatic cancer survival in patients with resectable pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a highly lethal disease with a dismal prognosis. However, while most patients die within the first year of diagnosis, very rarely, a few patients can survive for >10 years. Better understanding the molecular characteristics of the pancreatic adenocarcinomas from these very-long-term survivors (VLTS) may provide clues for personalized medicine and improve current pancreatic cancer treatment. To extend our previous investigation, we examined the proteomes of individual pancreas tumor tissues from a group of VLTS patients (survival ≥10 years) and short-term survival patients (STS, survival <14 months). With a given analytical sensitivity, the protein profile of each pancreatic tumor tissue was compared to reveal the proteome alterations that may be associated with pancreatic cancer survival. Pathway analysis of the differential proteins identified suggested that MYC, IGF1R and p53 were the top three upstream regulators for the STS-associated proteins, and VEGFA, APOE and TGFβ-1 were the top three upstream regulators for the VLTS-associated proteins. Immunohistochemistry analysis using an independent cohort of 145 PDAC confirmed that the higher abundance of ribosomal protein S8 (RPS8) and prolargin (PRELP) were correlated with STS and VLTS, respectively. Multivariate Cox analysis indicated that 'High-RPS8 and Low-PRELP' was significantly associated with shorter survival time (HR=2.69, 95% CI 1.46-4.92, P=0.001). In addition, galectin-1, a previously identified protein with its abundance aversely associated with pancreatic cancer survival, was further evaluated for its significance in cancer-associated fibroblasts. Knockdown of galectin-1 in pancreatic cancer-associated fibroblasts dramatically reduced cell migration and invasion. The results from our study suggested that PRELP, LGALS1 and RPS8 might be significant prognostic factors, and RPS8 and LGALS1 could be potential therapeutic targets to improve pancreatic cancer survival if further validated
Philanthropy or solidarity? Ethical dilemmas about humanitarianism in crisis afflicted Greece
That philanthropy perpetuates the conditions that cause inequality is an old argument shared by thinkers such as Karl Marx, Oscar Wilde and Slavoj Zizek. I recorded the same argument in conversations regarding a growing humanitarian concern in austerity-ridden Greece. At the local level a number of solidarity initiatives provide the most impoverished families with humanitarian help. Some citizens participate in such initiatives wholeheartedly, while some other citizens criticize solidarity movements drawing primarily from Marxist-inspired arguments, such as, for example, that humanitarianism rationalises state inaction. The local narratives presented in this article bring forward two parallel possibilities engendered by the humanitarian face of social solidarity: first, its empowering potential (where solidarity initiatives enhance local social awareness), and second, the de-politicisation of the crisis and the experience of suffering (a liability that stems from the effectiveness of humanitarianism in ameliorating only temporarily the superficial consequences of the crisis). These two overlapping possibilities can help us problematise the contextual specificity and strategic employment of humanitarian solidarity in times of austerity
