Governance Based on Cost Analysis: Unit Cost Analysis for Vocational Schools

    Get PDF
This study aims to calculate unit cost to produce one middle-level vocational school graduate (in Indonesian terms known as ‘Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan’ abbreviated as SMK). The calculation is required because operational grant funds (in Indonesian terms known as antuan Operational Sekolah abbreviated as BOS) are distributed so far to the same extent in all areas of Indonesia and for all majors. This is most likely less than optimal because in fact there are very basic characteristics differences including; Economic capacity of each region, the cost standard for each region, and the type of department in the school. Based on this, the researcher assumed that cost analysis should be done by considering these things as a basis to provide BOS funds tailored to specific characteristics. The data to be analyzed in this research is North Sumatra province data. This research is conducted in two stages, which in this report only completed the first phase which is a survey in North Sumatra region. Stages of survey to obtain data which then analyzed with related data such as community income, learning outcomes through the value of national examinations, tuition fee, and conditions of learning facilities. The research is funded by the ministries of research, technology and higher education through competing grant schemes for fiscal year 2017 and 2018. The result of correlation analysis between the variables shows that there is a strong relationship between the average income with average tuition paid by the community and between average tuition paid by the community with Quality Level of Education Facilities. The result of correlation analysis also shows a moderate relationship between the average tuition with learning outcomes measured through average national exam and relationship between quality level of education facilities with average national exam. While the relationship between average income with average national exam does not have a strong relationship. The result of correlation analysis concludes that further research is required to calculate unit cost. The results of these calculations can be used as a recommendation for policy makers to evaluate the funding system boss funds to pay attention to the characteristics as mentioned earlier.     Keywords: component; vocational school; unit cost; unit analysi

Noise Reduction in Breath Sound Files Using Wavelet Transform Based Filter

    Get PDF
The development of science and technology in the field of healthcare increasingly provides convenience in diagnosing respiratory system problem. Recording the breath sounds is one example of these developments. Breath sounds are recorded using a digital stethoscope, and then stored in a file with sound format. This breath sounds will be analyzed by health practitioners to diagnose the symptoms of disease or illness. However, the breath sounds is not free from interference signals. Therefore, noise filter or signal interference reduction system is required so that breath sounds component which contains information signal can be clarified. In this study, we designed a filter called a wavelet transform based filter. The filter that is designed in this study is using Daubechies wavelet with four wavelet transform coefficients. Based on the testing of the ten types of breath sounds data, the data is obtained in the largest SNRdB bronchial for 74.3685 decibels

Pengaruh Jumlah Inang Chilo Sacchariphagus Boj. (Lepidoptera: Crambidae) Dan Nisbah Kelamin Cotesia Flavipes Cam. (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) Terhadap Keturunan Yang Dihasilkan Di Laboratorium

The objectives of the research were to study the effect of the number host C. sacchariphagus andsex ratio of C. flavipes on the progeny produced. The research was held at the Laboratory ofSugarcane Research and Development Sei Semayang, Binjai, Medan, North Sumatera from Julyuntil September 2013. This method used Randomized Complete Design Factorial with two factors. The first factor was sex ratio of C. flavipes (1 male:1 female, 1 male:2 females, 1 male:3 females, 2males:2 females, 2 males:3 females) and the second factor was number of C. sacchariphagus (5 and10 larvae) with three replications. The results showed that the number of larvae ofC. sacchariphagus and sex ratio of C. flavipes significantly effected on the sex ratio of progenyproduced. The highest percentage (58.67%) of the number of host C. sacchariphaguon 5 larvae andthe lowest (36.00%) on 10 larvae. The highest sex ratio (1:2.5) on 1 male:1 female and lowest(1:0.6) on 2 males:3 females. Average male and female of sex ratio is 1: 1.54

Characteristics of aluminosilicates prepared from rice husk silica and aluminum metal

This study investigated use of the electrochemical method to prepare aluminosilicates from rice husk silica and aluminum metal. The aluminosilicate precursors were characterized using Scanning Electron Microscopy/Energy Dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM/EDX), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, and X-ray Diffraction spectroscopy (XRD). The precursors were subsequently sintered at 700–1400 °C and their microstructures and phase compositions were characterized. Results showed that the proposed method could be used to prepare aluminosilicates with high uniformity in terms of surface morphology and the particle size with mullite and quartz as the major phases formed

Growth Regulating Substance and Media on the Growth of White Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) Mycelium

White Oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) is an alternative food for human kind because of its high nutrients content. This study used growth regulating substance (ZPT) and media to determine the growth of the mycelium of white oyster mushroom. ZPT used in this study are NAA and Kinetin, and the growth media used are extract of different kind nuts (long beans, beans, peanut, green bean, and soya bean). Factorial analysis of variance (Anova) was used to analyze the data at a significant level of α = 0.05. The results shows that: (1) There’s a significant effect of ZPT and Non-ZPT on the mycelium growth with p=0.000, Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) showed that Kinetin gave the highest contribution to the significancy of Anova; (2) growth media used in the study shows a significant differences on the mycelium growth with p=0.039, Duncan Multiple Range Test shows that beans of long bean and soya bean are the highest contribution to the significancy of Anova; (3) time/days of measurement done in the study shows a significant differences on the mycelium growth with p=0000, Duncan Multiple Range Test shows that T6 or day 14 of measurement shows the highest contribution to the significancy of Anova; (4) the interaction of ZPT, Non-ZPT and growth media show a significant differences on the mycelium growth p=0000; (5) the interaction of ZPT, Non-ZPT and time of measurement show a significant differences on the mycelium growth with p=0000; (6) the interaction of growth media and time of measurement show a significant differences on the mycelium growth with p=0000; and (7) the interaction of ZPT, Non-ZPT, growth media and time of measurement do not affect significantly the mycelium growth with p=0.053

Study of the Utilization of Spent Bleaching Earth as a Raw Material for the Production of Biodiesel Using the In-Situ Transesterification Process

    Get PDF
Spent bleaching earth (SBE) is the primary by-product generated during crude palm oil (CPO) refining. The majority of the SBE is typically discarded in landfills, despite the fact that it still contains approximately 20-40 percent crude oil. The oil present in SBE can be converted into biodiesel using an in-situ transesterification procedure.  In the in-situ esterification-transesterification process, the extraction of oil and the reactions of esterification and transesterification take place concurrently on the surface of the SBE in the reactor. The objective of the research was to investigate the impact of reaction temperature and time, NaOH concentration, methanol and hexane to SBE ratio on the generation of biodiesel from SBE through in-situ transesterification. The research findings indicated that the in-situ transesterification process at 65°C for 120 minutes, using a methanol/SBE ratio of 9.0 (v/w) and a NaOH concentration of four percent (w/w), resulted in the greatest biodiesel production of 85.6 percent. The biodiesel consisted of 97.47 percent methyl ester. The findings also indicated that SBE might be utilized as a resource for the manufacturing of biodiesel. By employing SBE as a feedstock for biodiesel, it not only minimizes waste but also enhances biodiesel production without compromising the availability of oil for food consumption.
