    IR optical fiber-based noncontact pyrometer for drop tube instrumentation

    The design of a two color pyrometer with infrared optical fiber bundles for collection of the infrared radiation is described. The pyrometer design is engineered to facilitate its use for measurement of the temperature of small, falling samples in a microgravity materials processing experiment using a 100 meter long drop tube. Because the samples are small and move rapidly through the field of view of the pyrometer, the optical power budget of the detection system is severly limited. Strategies for overcoming this limitation are discussed

    Many electronic devices have a network connection facility. Projectors today have network facilities to bolster its customer satisfaction in everyday use. By using a device that can be controlled, the expected availability and reliability of the presentation system (computer and projector) can be maintained to keep itscondition ready to use for presentation. Nevertheless, there is still a projector device that has no network facilities so that the necessary additional equipment with expensive price. Besides, control equipment in large quantities has problems in timing and the number of technicians in performing controls. This study began with study of literature, from searching for the projectors that has LAN and software to control and finding a number of computer control softwares where the focus is easy to use and affordable. Result of this research is creating asystem which contains suggestions of procurement of computer hardware, hardware and software projectors each of which can be controlled centrally from a distance

    The performance of modified jatropha-based nanofluid during turning process

    The industry's extensive use of petroleum-based metalworking fluid (MWF) harms the environment and humans. The production of bio-based MWF, especially from crude jatropha oil (CJO), has therefore taken numerous initiatives. This aimed to formulate newly modified jatropha oil (MJO) with the addition of 0.05wt.% hBN and 0.05wt.% MoS2 as the nanofluid for MWF. The performance of the nanofluids was determined through the turning process in terms of cutting temperature, workpiece surface roughness, tool life and tool wear of the tool lubricated by the nanofluids. The performance of the nanofluid samples was compared with the synthetic ester (SE). From the results, after conducted 100mm axial cutting length MJO+hBN+MoS2 recorded the lowest in cutting temperature and surface roughness compared to all samples. The result shows that MJO+hBN+MoS2 has longer tool life (6500mm) compared to SE (6000mm). Abrasion and adhesion were observed as the dominant tool wear mechanism. In conclusion, MJO+hBN+MoS2 shows better machining performance and has the potential to be an environmentally friendly metalworking fluid

    Pada dasarnya, kebijakan Otsus Papua adalah pemberian kewenangan yang lebih luas bagi pemerintah daerah dan rakyat Papua untuk mengatur dan mengurus diri sendiri di dalam kerangka NKRI. Kewenangan yang lebih luas tersebut berarti pula mencakup kewenangan untuk mengatur pemanfaatan kekayaan alam di wilayah Provinsi Papua dan Papua Barat, sebesar-besarnya bagi kemakmuran rakyat Papua, memberdayakan potensi perekonomian, sosial, dan budaya yang dimiliki, termasuk di dalamnya memberikan peranan yang signifikan bagi orang asli Papua untuk terlibat dalam proses Perumusan kebijakan daerah, menentukan strategi pembangunan dengan tetap menghargai kesetaraan dan keragaman kehidupan masyarakat di Provinsi Papua. Oleh karena itu, penulis mengulas hubungan kewenangan pusat dan daerah dalam NKRI dengan daerah, khususnya Papua Barat dalam Undang-undang Otonomi Khusus dengan metode kualitatif dan melalui pemahanan konsep desentralisasi. Hasilnya secara tegas menunjukkan, betapa, implementasi otonomi khusus di Papua Barat, ternyata berbeda dengan yang tergambarkan pada otonomi sebagaimana yang tersurat dalam undang-undang tersebut.     Road deterioration which occurs faster than the road design life often occurs lately. The objective of this study is to assess the vehicle damage factor caused by excessive load and the effect of excessive load on the pavement design life. This research was conducted with Weigh in Motion and traffic volume surveys. The study was conducted on the station of KM 226 + 075, in the Bireuen - Bts Kota Lhokseumawe road section. Data analysis was performed using the Pedoman Perencanaan Tebal Lapis Tambah Perkerasan Lentur dengan Metode Lendutan. The results showed that the value of Vehicle Damage Factor for excess load condition is 696 % greater the one of normal load conditions. Based on the Cumulative Equivalent Standard Axle analysis, it is known that the road service life is reduced by 4.3 years compared to the design life, which is 10 years

    Fouling Characteristics of a Light Australian Crude Oil

    Australian crude oils, which generally contain little asphaltenes, nevertheless give rise to fouling in refinery pre-heat trains. In this research, fouling of a series of such crude oils and their blends is being assessed. The present work focuses on thermal fouling resulting from heating Gippsland crude oil at moderate temperatures. The oil is maintained under nitrogen at a pressure of 379 kPa, and re-circulated at bulk temperatures of 80-120°C through an electrically heated annular probe at velocities in the range 0.25 to 0.65 m/s with surface temperatures from 180-260°C. Experiments are run for periods up to 90 hours at constant heat flux. Fouling is detected by the increase of wall temperature of the probe. The oil is characterized by its filterable solids content, density and viscosity both before and after the fouling run. The trends in fouling rates are compared to predictions of the threshold-fouling model proposed by Ebert and Panchal (1995).     Konsep pengembangan manusia secara menyeluruh merupakan solusi atas Perubahan fenomena sosial saat ini yang menyebabkan kehidupan seseorang tidak menyatu karena lingkungan pekerjaan atau tempat kerja hanya menjadi tempat untuk mencari hal-hal profan (duniawi) dan tidak mempunyai ruang untuk sesuatu yang sakral atau suci. Akibat dari adanya pemisahan ini, seseorang lebih terfokus hidupnya untuk menggeluti dunia karir tanpa memperhatikan kehidupan batinnya. Fenomena tersebut menumbuhkan kesadaran untuk menghubungkan aspek spiritualitas individu dengan pengelolaan pekerjaan atau lingkungan kerja, melalui konsep workplace spirituality,. Dalam studi akademis, workplace spirituality merupakan bidang yang masih baru dan masih terus dikembangkan, namun sebagian besar studi masih dilakukan di Amerika Serikat dan Kanada, dan sangat sedikit sekali yang dilakukan di luar kedua negara tersebut. Berdasarkan hal itu, penelitian ini bermaksud untuk memperkaya topik workplace spirituality dari sudut pandang administrator publik di Indonesia melalui pendekatan fenomenologi, dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif, penelitian ini menghasilkan dua sudut pandang terkait workplace spirituality, pertama adalah sudut pandang agama dan yang kedua adalah sudut pandang intrinsik - alamiah, kedua sudut pandang tersebut sama – sama bertujan untuk memberikan makna dalam bentuk ekspresi positif dalam lingkungan kerja. Penelitian lebih jauh juga dibutuhkan untuk memperkokoh konsep ini, baik melalui metode kualitatif maupun kuantitatif
