    γγ\gamma \gamma Processes at High Energy pp Colliders

    Get PDF
    In this note we investigate the production of charged heavy particles via \gaga\ fusion at high energy pp colliders. We revise previous claims that the \gaga\ cross section is comparable to or larger than that for the corresponding Drell-Yan process at high energies. Indeed we find that the \gaga\ contribution to the total production cross section at pp is far below the Drell-Yan cross section. As far as the individual elastic, semi-elastic and inelastic contributions to the \gaga\ process are concerned we find that they are all of the same order of magnitude.Comment: REVTEX, 12 pages, two uuencoded figures appended at the end of the fil

    Fermion Dipole Moments in Supersymmetric Models with Explicitly Broken R-parity

    Get PDF
    We present a simple analysis that allows us to extract the leading mass dependence of the dipole moment of matter fermions that might be induced by new physics. We present explicit results for the supersymmetric model with broken R-parity as an illustration. We show that the extra contributions to the electric dipole moment (edm) of fermions from R-parity violating interactions can occur only at two loop level, contrary to claims in the literature. We further find that unlike the generic lepto-quark models, the extra contributions to the dipole moments of the leptons can only be enhanced by m_b/m_l and not by m_t/m_l relative to the expectations in the Standard Model. An interesting feature about this enhancement of these dipole moments is that it does not involve unknown mixing angles. We then use experimental constraints on the electric dipole moments of electron and neutron to obtain bounds on (the imaginary part of) products of R-parity violating couplings, and show that bounds claimed in the literature are too stringent by many orders of magnitude.Comment: 16 pages latex, 7 figure

Black Bat Industries merupakan produsen pakaian jadi yang beroperasi berdasarkan make to order.

    Probing the CP of the Higgs at a γγ\gamma \gamma collider using γγttˉlX\gamma \gamma \to t \bar t \to lX

    We present results of an investigation to study CP violation in the Higgs sector in ttˉt\bar t production at a γγ\gamma\gamma-collider. This is done in a model independent way in terms of six form-factors {(Sγ),(Sγ),(Pγ),(Pγ),St,Pt}\{\Re(S_{\gamma}), \Im(S_{\gamma}), \Re(P_{\gamma}), \Im(P_{\gamma}), S_t, P_t\} which parameterize the CP mixing in Higgs sector. The angular distribution of the decay lepton from t/tˉt/\bar t is shown to be independent of any CP violation in the tbWtbW vertex. Hence it can be used as a diagnostic of the CP mixing. We study how well one can probe different combinations of the form factors by measurements of the combined asymmetries that we construct, in the initial state lepton (photon) polarization and the final state lepton charge, using only circularly polarized photons. We show that the method can be sensitive to loop-induced CP violation in the Higgs sector in the MSSM.Comment: Talk presented by A. de Roeck at the International Linear Collider Workshop, Jeju Island, Aug. 26-30,2002, 9 pages, 2 figures, LaTeX, uses A4.st

    Single decay-lepton angular distributions in polarized e+e- --> t tbar and simple angular asymmetries as a measure of CP-violating top dipole couplings

    Get PDF
    In the presence of an electric dipole coupling of t-tbar to a photon, and an analogous "weak" dipole coupling to the Z, CP violation in the process e+e- --> t tbar results in modified polarization of the top and anti-top. This polarization can be analyzed by studying the angular distributions of decay charged leptons when the top or anti-top decays leptonically. Analytic expressions are presented for these distributions when either t or tbar decays leptonically, including O(alpha_s) QCD corrections in the soft-gluon approximation. The angular distributions are insensitive to anomalous interactions in top decay. Two types of simple CP-violating polar-angle asymmetries and two azimuthal asymmetries, which do not need the full reconstruction of the t or tbar, are studied. Independent 90% CL limits that may be obtained on the real and imaginary parts of the electric and weak dipole couplings at a linear collider operating at sqrt{s}=500 GeV with integrated luminosity 500 fb^{-1} and also at sqrt{s}=1000 GeV with integrated luminosity 1000 fb^{-1} have been evaluated. The effect of longitudinal electron and/or positron beam polarizations has been included.Comment: 26 pages, latex, figures included as latex files, version appearing in Pramana - Journal of Physics, minor corrections and note added in proo

    Determining the CP properties of the Higgs boson

    Get PDF
    The search and the probe of the fundamental properties of Higgs boson(s) and, in particular, the determination of their charge conjugation and parity (CP) quantum numbers, is one of the main tasks of future high-energy colliders. We demonstrate that the CP properties of a Standard Model-like Higgs particle can be unambiguously assessed by measuring just the total cross section and the top polarization in associated Higgs production with top quark pairs in e+e- collisions.Comment: 4 pages, revtex, uses axodraw (style file included in the submission

    Probing CP-violating Higgs contributions in gamma-gamma -> f anti-f through fermion polarization

    Get PDF
    We discuss the use of fermion polarization for studying neutral Higgs bosons at a photon collider. To this aim we construct polarization asymmetries which can isolate the contribution of a Higgs boson ϕ\phi in γγffˉ\gamma\gamma\to f \bar f, f=τ/tf=\tau/t, from that of the QED continuum. This can help in getting information on the γγϕ\gamma\gamma\phi coupling in case ϕ\phi is a CP eigenstate. We also construct CP-violating asymmetries which can probe CP mixing in case ϕ\phi has indeterminate CP. Furthermore, we take the MSSM with CP violation as an example to demonstrate the potential of these asymmetries in a numerical analysis. We find that these asymmetries are sensitive to the presence of a Higgs boson as well as its CP properties over a wide range of MSSM parameters. In particular, the method suggested can cover the region where a light Higgs boson may have been missed by LEP due to CP violation in the Higgs sector, and may be missed as well at the LHC.Comment: 14 pages, 14 figures, typeset in revtex4. The creation of machines with human intelligence is an primary and beneficial aim of artificial intelligence research. One interesting method in developing artificial intelligence is combining a biological method and machine intelligence. Cyborg Intelligence is a new scientific model for the integration of biological and machinery. Brain Machine Interface (BMI) provides an opportunity to integrate both intelligence at various levels. Based on BMI, neural signals can be read for the control of motor actuators and sensory information coding machine can be sent to a specific area of the brain. In fact, Distributed Adaptive Control Theory of Mind and Brain technology is the most advanced brain-based cognitive architecture successfully applied in a wide range of robot tasks. It is expected that by analyzing the cyborg intelligence development can help and facilitate to enhance the knowledge of cyborg intelligence

    Electromagnetic Interaction of Massive Spin-3 State from String Theory

    In the given work we study an interaction of second massive state of an open boson string with the constant electromagnetic field. This state contains massive fields with spins 3 and 1. Using the method of an open string BRST quantization, we receive gauge-invariant lagrangian, describing the electromagnetic interaction of these fields. From the explicit view of transformations and lagrangian it follows that the presence of external constant e/m field leads to the mixing of the given level states. Most likely that the presence of the external field will lead to the mixing of the states at other mass string levels as well.Comment: 17 pages, LaTeX, no figure
