On Pseudopoints of Algebraic Curves

Following Kraitchik and Lehmer, we say that a positive integer $n\equiv1\pmod 8$ is an $x$-pseudosquare if it is a quadratic residue for each odd prime $p\le x$, yet is not a square. We extend this defintion to algebraic curves and say that $n$ is an $x$-pseudopoint of a curve $f(u,v) = 0$ (where $f \in \Z[U,V]$) if for all sufficiently large primes $p \le x$ the congruence $f(n,m)\equiv 0 \pmod p$ is satisfied for some $m$. We use the Bombieri bound of exponential sums along a curve to estimate the smallest $x$-pseudopoint, which shows the limitations of the modular approach to searching for points on curves

Motorcycle Potential Problems in Jakarta

After the economic crisis in 1997, motorcycles become a popular transport mode in Indonesian cities.However this condition leads to large number of violation and accident rate. This study tried to discuss howthis problem started and what possible measure can be taken to solve the problems, mainly based on literaturereview. The traffic data used were compiled from the data provided by PT Pamintori Cipta. Interview surveywas conducted to find people perception of motorcycles issues. The conclusion suggests that there is a needof further comprehensive study to find out what condition that makes motorcyclists voluntary return to usepublic transport and social engineering and intensive training program should be implemented for youngergeneration to improve traffic condition in Jakarta

Stability of the Einstein static universe in presence of vacuum energy

The Einstein static universe has played a central role in a number of emergent scenarios recently put forward to deal with the singular origin of the standard cosmological model. Here we study the existence and stability of the Einstein static solution in presence of vacuum energy corresponding to conformally-invariant fields. We show that the presence of vacuum energy stabilizes this solution by changing it to a centre equilibrium point, which is cyclically stable. This allows non-singular emergent cosmological models to be constructed in which initially the universe oscillates indefinitely about an initial Einstein static solution and is thus past eternal.Comment: Some references adde

Comparative Study on Contrast in Lighting Design at Retail Store Window Display

Store window display is the entryways for sales in retail industry. It has a big impact to lure customers to enter stores and make purchase, thus creating a big footprint on sales. Despite other factor on window display such as types of window display, placement, theme, layout and materials being used, lighting design has an important role on store window display. As one element in lighting designs, contrast can both attract consumers’ attention and interest in the merchandise being displayed and positively affect consumers’ footprints to store. Despite its potential, the impact of contrast in lighting often neglected on store window display. This review is intended to observe consumers’ attention and interest through comparative study in lighting brightness, lightness and contrast of different retail store window display. Contribution of this study is to give a new input on how to apply lighting contrast to draw attention and interest for customers in retail industry. These findings will also be beneficial for lighting practitioners, and students of interior and visual merchandising program. The effects of endosulfan on P450 1A gene expression, antioxidant enzymes activity and histopathological alterations in liver of Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus Borodin, 1987)

The effects of 14 days exposure to sublethal concentrations of endosulfan (10 and 40 μg L−1) were investigated in mRNA- P450 1A expression, antioxidant enzymes (SOD and CAT) activity and histopathological alterations of Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus) fingerlings with weights of 3–5 g. The results illustrated that the relative mRNA- P450 1A expression level significantly increased (P < 0.05) compared to the control group. Highest significant increase (P < 0.05) was observed on the first day, then decreased towards day 14 of exposure. The SOD and CAT activity showed a significant increase in fish exposed to different concentrations up to day 7, then activity decreased on day 14 in fish of all treated groups. Although signs of tissue lesions were observed on day 4, they increased from day 7 and reached the highest level on day 14. The magnitude of all changed studied parameters (gene expression, enzymes and histopathological) follows a concentration-dependent manner. © 2016 Blackwell Verlag Gmb

Liquid Level Sensor for High Temperature Molten Salt in Confined Container

Electrical resistance measurements on different rod materials in liquid solutions, molten salts, or molten lead are considered to design a liquid level sensor in a sealed containers when the temperature of the fluid is very high (~1000ºC) and conventional measurements are not possible due to properties of the fluid or condition of the container. An analytical solution to the problem is adopted to reduce the cost of the sensor and overcome the difficulties of calibration of sensors at high temperature for prediction of the level of liquid. An electrical circuit model is suggested for analytical solution to compute the resistivity versus height of the electrode rod submerged in the liquid in a narrow container. Good prediction of circuit model for experimental results is verified by comparison of analytical results of different combination of liquid solutions and rods’ material with experimental graphs

Age, Parity and Birth Spacing to the Incidence of Preeclampsia

Preeklampsia is complication in pregnancy characterized by various symptoms as clinical hypertension and protein urine and usually occurs after the age of 20 weeks of pregnancy until 48 hours after labor. Highest Insidence of preeclampsia in DIY was in Sleman (22%- 30%). Preeclampsia was caused by multy factoral. Goal of this research aimed to know the the correlation between age, parity and birth spacing to the preeclampsia. The research used Cross sectional design with purposive sampling technique. The subject of this research was 381 labor patiens in RSUD Sleman in 2016. The data were collected from register book and medic record of labor in 2016. The data were analyzed using Chi squareand logistic regression. The analysis showed of most subjects aged ≥30 years, had parity 2, had a gestational distance of 2-5, and did not have preeclampsia.As the result showed age ≥30 years had a significant association with preeclampsia p value of 0.023 Exp B 10.630 95% CI: 1.378 to 82.005. Distance pregnancy &lt;2 years had a significant association with preeclampsia p value 0,000 Exp B 3,201 95% CI: 1.862 to 5.503, and the distance Pregnancy &gt;5 years had a p-value 0.013 with Exp B 3,622 95% CI: 1.308 to 10.026.The conclusion of this research shows that there is a relationship between age and the incidence of preeclampsia pregnancy spacing

Compliance of Healthcare Workers with Hand Hygiene Practices in the Northeast of Iran: an Overt Observation

Hand hygiene (HH) is one of the most effective methods to prevent transmission and spread of microorganisms from one patient to another, also, it used to reduce the spread of pathogens in clinical settings and to help control outbreaks but compliance is usually poor. The purpose of this study was to analyze the compliance of hand hygiene and affecting factors among healthcare workers (HCWs) of northeast hospitals in Iran. This study was conducted based on observation method for the compliance of hand hygiene according to the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines. HCWs were observed during routine patient care in different shifts, also the technique of hand hygiene was assessed through hand washing with alcohol-based disinfectant. Data were collected during 1 year, from June 2014 to July 2015 by the infection control teams in the northeast hospital of Iran. By direct observation, we evaluated a total of 92518 hand hygiene opportunities from 29 hospitals in the northeast of Iran during 1 year, with overall compliance rates in these hospitals were 43.42%. Compliance rates differed by role: nurses43%, doctors 19 % and other health workers 29%. In this observational study, we identified that adherence to hand hygiene practice and use of alcohol-based disinfectant was very low in this hospitals, so effective intervention programs to promote adherence to hand hygiene and use of disinfectants could be effective to increase compliance
