Waste management is becoming a major issue for communities worldwide. Glass, being non-biodegradable, is not suitable for addition to landfill and such recycling opportunities need to investigate. Continuous use of natural resources since ages has been depleting them at an alarming rate. Natural sand is the best form of the fine aggregate used in concrete till now. But continuous sand mining results in impure water in river which leads to an environment disaster. In the search for the replacement of sand, construction material waste and environmental waste materials got the focus of research people. Among these materials like waste glass can be an effective replacement for fine aggregate. This project studies the suitability of crushed glass as a possible substitute for conventional fine aggregate. Experimental investigation was carried out to evaluate the properties of concrete mixture in which the fine aggregate was replaced with the crushed glass in 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% & 100% by weight. Mechanical properties like compressive strength and tensile strength were determined at an age of 28 days. The test results indicate when crushed glass used as fine aggregate enhances the strength properties of concrete. It is found that 60% fine glass and 40% natural is the optimum proportion

An android is a name given to a mobile operating system made by Google. An operating system is software that acts as an interface and manages computer hardware and software resources. In any other operating system, there is a problem of malevolent software or malicious contents trying to wreck havoc. A malicious software is any software that is used for or can disrupt computer operation and gather access to private systems [1].Android applications will frequently have access to private and confidential resources and information in the user's device. There is high degree of possible exploitation of these resources. We can take an example of an application using a video camera to document the on-going activities of an organization. Android users do have a certain amount of control over the application capacities and capabilities after installing it based on user's context [2]. In our paper, we propose another way where network managers can control what applications are granted access or revoked. DOI: 10.17762/ijritcc2321-8169.15036

Phishing is an endeavor by an individual or a gathering to steal individual secret data, for example, passwords, MasterCard data and so forth from clueless casualties for wholesale fraud, monetary profit and other deceitful exercises. Visual cryptography is an exceptional kind of mystery sharing. In this paper we have proposed another approach for phishing sites characterization to tackle the issue of phishing. Phishing sites include an assortment of signals inside its substance parts and also the program based security pointers gave along the site. The utilization of pictures is investigated to save the security of picture captcha by deteriorating the first picture captcha into two shares that are put away in particular database servers with the end goal that the first picture captcha can be uncovered just when both are at the same time accessible; the individual sheet pictures don't uncover the personality of the first picture captcha. Once the first picture captcha is uncovered to the client it can be utilized as the secret word. A few arrangements have been proposed to handle phishing. By the by, there is no single enchantment shot that can illuminate this risk fundamentally. In this review, the creators shed light on the essential components that recognize phishing sites from genuine ones and survey how great govern based information mining grouping procedures are in anticipating phishing sites and which characterization system is ended up being more dependable

Role of Serum Amyloid A in Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm and Related Cardiovascular Diseases

    Get PDF
Epidemiological data positively correlate plasma serum amyloid A (SAA) levels with cardiovascular disease severity and mortality. Studies by several investigators have indicated a causal role for SAA in the development of atherosclerosis in animal models. Suppression of SAA attenuates the development of angiotensin II (AngII)-induced abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) formation in mice. Thus, SAA is not just a marker for cardiovascular disease (CVD) development, but it is a key player. However, to consider SAA as a therapeutic target for these diseases, the pathway leading to its involvement needs to be understood. This review provides a brief description of the pathobiological significance of this enigmatic molecule. The purpose of this review is to summarize the data relevant to its role in the development of CVD, the pitfalls in SAA research, and unanswered questions in the field

High-Density Lipoprotein Inhibits Serum Amyloid A-Mediated Reactive Oxygen Species Generation and NLRP3 Inflammasome Activation

    Get PDF
Serum amyloid A (SAA) is a high-density apolipoprotein whose plasma levels can increase more than 1000-fold during a severe acute-phase inflammatory response and are more modestly elevated in chronic inflammation. SAA is thought to play important roles in innate immunity, but its biological activities have not been completely delineated. We previously reported that SAA deficiency protects mice from developing abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAAs) induced by chronic angiotensin II (AngII) infusion. Here, we report that SAA is required for AngII-induced increases in interleukin-1β (IL-1β), a potent proinflammatory cytokine that is tightly controlled by the Nod-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome and caspase-1 and has been implicated in both human and mouse AAAs. We determined that purified SAA stimulates IL-1β secretion in murine J774 and bone marrow–derived macrophages through a mechanism that depends on NLRP3 expression and caspase-1 activity, but is independent of P2X7 nucleotide receptor (P2X7R) activation. Inhibiting reactive oxygen species (ROS) by N-acetyl-l-cysteine or mito-TEMPO and inhibiting activation of cathepsin B by CA-074 blocked SAA–mediated inflammasome activation and IL-1β secretion. Moreover, inhibiting cellular potassium efflux with glyburide or increasing extracellular potassium also significantly reduced SAA–mediated IL-1β secretion. Of note, incorporating SAA into high-density lipoprotein (HDL) prior to its use in cell treatments completely abolished its ability to stimulate ROS generation and inflammasome activation. These results provide detailed insights into SAA–mediated IL-1β production and highlight HDL\u27s role in regulating SAA\u27s proinflammatory effects

The karma of consumption: Role of materialism in the pursuit of life satisfaction

    Get PDF
Purpose: This paper aims to examine how social comparison (SC) and belief in karma (KA) encourage materialism (MAT) and promote consumers’ life satisfaction (LS). Design/methodology/approach: Two studies were conducted with Indian middle class consumers to test the basic premises of the current research. The first one used a survey (N = 247), while the second one used an experimental design (N = 206). Findings: The survey results showed that SC and belief in KA promoted MAT amongst Indian consumers and further enhanced their LS. Findings from the experiment revealed a novel two-way interaction, in that the KA–MAT relationship was moderated by the underlying motivation for MAT. Research limitations/implications: Future research may validate and extend our findings using different samples to increase external validity. Practical implications: By explaining the interactive effects of MAT, its underlying motivation and belief in KA, managers will gain a better understanding of why consumers in an emerging market like India purchase conspicuous products. Originality/value: This is the first paper to study how the KA–MAT relationship influences LS amongst consumers in the world’s fastest-rising economy. Furthermore, no prior research has reported a boundary condition for the KA–MAT relationship studied here. The findings contribute to an extremely limited body of literature on KA and consumption

Structural Stability and Level Density of Hot Rotating Doubly Magic Isotopes of Calcium

    Get PDF
The recently reported doubly-magic nuclei 52Ca and 54Ca are discussed in comparison with the other magic isotopes of Calcium. the temperature effect is included in this study and hence the statistical approach to obtain the particle emission and level density are discussed in the context of temperature effect. We predict an increase in neutron emission for 54Ca due to the abrupt decrease in neutron separation energy around t=0.4MeV. Since the drop in the separation energy is closely associated with the structural changes in the rotating nuclei, relative increase in neutron emission probability around certain values of temperature may be construed as evidence for the shape transition. Such effects are not obtained for 40,48,52Ca isotopes. hence this statistical study reveals the higher stability of magic nature of 52Ca than 54Ca, against temperature
