Understanding Bottom Production
We describe calculations of b b-bar production to next-to-next-to-leading
order (NNLO) and next-to-next-to-leading logarithm (NNLL) near threshold in pp
interactions. Our calculations are in good agreement with the b b-bar total

Soft-gluon resummation for heavy quark production in hadronic collisions
We discuss the heavy quark production cross section near partonic threshold
in hadronic collisions, including the resummation of leading and
next-to-leading logarithms arising from soft gluon emission. We show how to
handle the complications due to the non-universal non-leading logarithms. We
give analytical results for the partonic subprocess and numerical
results in the DIS scheme for top quark production at the Fermilab Tevatron

Deep-inelastic production of heavy quarks
Deep-inelastic production of heavy quarks at HERA, especially charm, is an
excellent signal to measure the gluon distribution in the proton at small
values. By measuring various differential distributions of the heavy quarks
this reaction permits additional more incisive QCD analyses due to the many
scales present. Furthermore, the relatively small mass of the charm quark,
compared to the typical momentum transfer , allows one to study whether and
when to treat this quark as a parton. This reaction therefore sheds light on
some of the most fundamental aspects of perturbative QCD. We discuss the above
issues and review the feasibility of their experimental investigation in the

Twist-2 Heavy Flavor Contributions to the Structure Function
The twist--2 heavy flavor contributions to the polarized structure function
are calculated. We show that this part of is related
to the heavy flavor contribution to by the Wandzura--Wilczek
relation to all orders in the strong coupling constant. Numerical results are

Treatment of Heavy Quarks in Deeply Inelastic Scattering
We investigate a simplified version of the ACOT prescription for calculating
deeply inelastic scattering from Q^2 values near the squared mass M_H^2 of a
heavy quark to Q^2 much larger than M_H^2.Comment: 14 pages, 5 figure
Next-to-eikonal corrections to soft gluon radiation: a diagrammatic approach
We consider the problem of soft gluon resummation for gauge theory amplitudes
and cross sections, at next-to-eikonal order, using a Feynman diagram approach.
At the amplitude level, we prove exponentiation for the set of factorizable
contributions, and construct effective Feynman rules which can be used to
compute next-to-eikonal emissions directly in the logarithm of the amplitude,
finding agreement with earlier results obtained using path-integral methods.
For cross sections, we also consider sub-eikonal corrections to the phase space
for multiple soft-gluon emissions, which contribute to next-to-eikonal
logarithms. To clarify the discussion, we examine a class of log(1 - x) terms
in the Drell-Yan cross-section up to two loops. Our results are the first steps
towards a systematic generalization of threshold resummations to
next-to-leading power in the threshold expansion.Comment: 66 pages, 19 figure
Charm quark and D^* cross sections in deeply inelastic scattering at DESY HERA
A next-to-leading order Monte Carlo program for the calculation of heavy
quark cross sections in deeply inelastic scattering is described. Concentrating
on charm quark and D^*(2010) production at HERA, several distributions are
presented and their variation with respect to charm quark mass, parton
distribution set, and renormalization-factorization scale is studied.Comment: 15 pages including 8 figures. Uses Latex, Revtex, and psfig.

Parton distribution functions from the precise NNLO QCD fit
We report the parton distribution functions (PDFs) determined from the NNLO
QCD analysis of the world inclusive DIS data with account of the precise NNLO
QCD corrections to the evolution equations kernel. The value of strong coupling
constant \alpha_s^{NNLO}(M_Z)=0.1141(14), in fair agreement with one obtained
using the earlier approximate NNLO kernel by van Neerven-Vogt. The intermediate
bosons rates calculated in the NNLO using obtained PDFs are in agreement to the

Single top production in a non-minimal supersymmetric model
We study single top production at the LHC in a SUSY-QCD model with a heavy
Dirac gluino. The presence of a heavy Dirac gluino allows for notable top-up
flavour changing neutral currents. In this scenario, we find that the process
ug->tg gives the largest contribution to single top production via FCNCs at the
LHC. The key features of this signal are that the top quark is produced very
forward and that it is asymmetric to its anti-top counterpart, as the latter

QCD and Yukawa corrections to single-top-quark production via q qbar -> t bbar
We calculate the O(alpha_s) and O(alpha_W m_t^2/M_W^2) corrections to the
production of a single top quark via the weak process q qbar -> t bbar at the
Fermilab Tevatron and the CERN Large Hadron Collider. An accurate calculation
