The Culture of Nondisclosure of Sexual Abuse

    Get PDF
The existing understanding of the culture of nondisclosure of sexual abuse is almost entirely absent. It lacks a theoretical framework, an empirical exploration into how it occurs in family relationships, and little is known about disclosure barriers in practice. This dissertation will address these three areas through three separate but related papers. First, the researcher will present a new cohesive theoretical framework that integrates and expands on existing theories for nondisclosure and that incorporates how individual decision-making is nested within social and familial contexts. Second, the researcher will report on an exploratory research study about sibling relationships regarding sexual abuse disclosure. Finally, the researcher will present an interview guide for practitioners that aims to transform survivors’ consciousness around barriers to disclosure. This dissertation seeks to provide a comprehensive understanding of nondisclosure of sexual abuse that addresses theory, research, and practice, in three separate but related papers. The culmination of these items elucidates the culture of nondisclosure of sexual abuse

Stern-Gerlach Entanglement in Spinor Bose-Einstein Condensates

Entanglement of spin and position variables produced by spatially inhomogeneous magnetic fields of Stern-Gerlach type acting on spinor Bose-Einstein condensates may lead to interference effects at the level of one-boson densities. A model is worked out for these effects which is amenable to analytical calculation for gaussian shaped condensates. The resulting interference effects are sensitive to the spin polarization properties of the condensate.Comment: 9 pages, 2 figure

A redescription of Trichuris avis has been carried out, attending to the morphological and biometricaJ characteristics cited by different authors. Futihermore, isoenzymatic and molecular data for T. ovis have been include

Ios Mobile Device Forensics: Initial Analysis

    Get PDF
The ability to recover forensic artifacts from mobile devices is proving to be an ever-increasing challenge for investigators. Coupling this with the ubiquity of mobile devices and the increasing complexity and processing power they contain results in a reliance on them by suspects. In investigating Apple’s iOS devices -- namely the iPhone and iPad -- an investigator’s challenges are increased due to the closed nature of the platforms. What is left is an extremely powerful and complex mobile tool that is inexpensive, small, and can be used in suspect activities. Little is known about the internal data structures of the device or the proper method of extracting forensically sound images of them. This article will discuss the current state of iOS mobile device forensics. An examination of what data is contained on the devices as well as what can currently be extracted from suspect device is looked at. Jailbreaking an iOS device will be evaluated against its pros and cons along with current professional and open source tools. Finally, a discourse on our continuing research into deleted file recovery and future works is presented. Keywords: Digital Forensics, iOS, iPhone, iPad, Mobile Devices, Security, Analysis, Tool
