AMCTD: Adaptive Mobility of Courier nodes in Threshold-optimized DBR Protocol for Underwater Wireless Sensor Networks
In dense underwater sensor networks (UWSN), the major confronts are high
error probability, incessant variation in topology of sensor nodes, and much
energy consumption for data transmission. However, there are some remarkable
applications of UWSN such as management of seabed and oil reservoirs,
exploration of deep sea situation and prevention of aqueous disasters. In order
to accomplish these applications, ignorance of the limitations of acoustic
communications such as high delay and low bandwidth is not feasible. In this
paper, we propose Adaptive mobility of Courier nodes in Threshold-optimized
Depth-based routing (AMCTD), exploring the proficient amendments in depth
threshold and implementing the optimal weight function to achieve longer
network lifetime. We segregate our scheme in 3 major phases of weight updating,
depth threshold variation and adaptive mobility of courier nodes. During data
forwarding, we provide the framework for alterations in threshold to cope with
the sparse condition of network. We ultimately perform detailed simulations to
scrutinize the performance of our proposed scheme and its comparison with other
two notable routing protocols in term of network lifetime and other essential
parameters. The simulations results verify that our scheme performs better than

Comparison of spatial domain optimal trade-off maximum average correlation height (OT-MACH) filter with scale invariant feature transform (SIFT) using images with poor contrast and large illumination gradient
A spatial domain optimal trade-off Maximum Average Correlation Height (OT-MACH) filter has been previously developed and shown to have advantages over frequency domain implementations in that it can be made locally adaptive to spatial variations in the input image background clutter and normalised for local intensity changes. In this paper we compare the performance of the spatial domain (SPOT-MACH) filter to the widely applied data driven technique known as the Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT). The SPOT-MACH filter is shown to provide more robust recognition performance than the SIFT technique for demanding images such as scenes in which there are large illumination gradients. The SIFT method depends on reliable local edge-based feature detection over large regions of the image plane which is compromised in some of the demanding images we examined for this work. The disadvantage of the SPOTMACH filter is its numerically intensive nature since it is template based and is implemented in the spatial domain. © (2015) COPYRIGHT Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE). Turbulent transport of material particles: An experimental study of finite size effects
We use an acoustic Lagrangian tracking technique, particularly adapted to
measurements in open flows, and a versatile material particles generator (in
the form of soap bubbles with adjustable size and density) to characterize
Lagrangian statistics of finite sized, neutrally bouyant, particles transported
in an isotropic turbulent flow of air. We vary the size of the particles in a
range corresponding to turbulent inertial scales and explore how the turbulent
forcing experienced by the particles depends on their size. We show that, while
the global shape of the intermittent acceleration probability density function
does not depend significantly on particle size, the acceleration variance of
the particles decreases as they become larger in agreement with the classical
scaling for the spectrum of Eulerian pressure fluctuations in the carrier flow
Crystal and magnetic structure of the oxypnictide superconductor LaO(1-x)FxFeAs: evidence for magnetoelastic coupling
High-resolution and high-flux neutron as well as X-ray powder-diffraction
experiments were performed on the oxypnictide series LaO(1-x)FxFeAs with
0<x<0.15 in order to study the crystal and magnetic structure. The magnetic
symmetry of the undoped compound corresponds to those reported for ReOFeAs
(with Re a rare earth) and for AFe2As2 (A=Ba, Sr) materials. We find an ordered
magnetic moment of 0.63(1)muB at 2 K in LaOFeAs, which is significantly larger
than the values previously reported for this compound. A sizable ordered
magnetic moment is observed up to a F-doping of 4.5% whereas there is no
magnetic order for a sample with a F concentration of x=0.06. In the undoped
sample, several interatomic distances and FeAs4 tetrahedra angles exhibit
pronounced anomalies connected with the broad structural transition and with
the onset of magnetism supporting the idea of strong magneto-elastic coupling

The fodder grass resources for ruminants: A indigenous treasure of local communities of Thal desert Punjab, Pakistan
Indigenous people have been using local grasses for rearing their animals for centuries. The present study is the first record of traditional knowledge of grasses and livestock feeding system from the Thal desert in Pakistan. A snowball sampling method was used to identify key participants. Information was collected from the respondents from six districts of Thal Desert through semi-structural questionnaire and site visits. The data was analyzed through Smith's salience index and Composite Salience using ANTHROPAC package in R software. On the whole 61 grasses were recorded from the study area: most of them belong to the Poaceae family (52 species). Based on palatability grasses were categorized into three major groups i.e. (A) High priority, (B) Medium priority and (C) Low priority. Species in Group A, abundantly present in the study area represent a source of highly palatable forage for all ruminants. 232 (141M +91W) local participants were interviewed. Participants were grouped into three major age categories: 20-35 (48 participants), 36-50 (116 participants) and 51-67 years old (68 participants). ANTHROPAC frequency analysis confirmed the Smith's salience index and Composite Salience; Cynodon dactylon was the favorite species (6.46 SI, 0.6460 CS) followed by Cymbopogon jwarancusa (5.133 SI, 0.5133 CS) and Sorghum sp. was the third most salient species (5.121 SI, 0.5121 CS). Grasses were mostly available during the months of August and October and had also ethnoveterinary importance. Placental Structure in Preterm Birth Among HIV-Positive Versus HIV-Negative Women in Kenya.
BackgroundPreterm birth (PTB) is a major cause of infant morbidity and mortality in developing countries. Recent data suggest that in addition to Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection, use of antiretroviral therapy (ART) increases the risk of PTB. As the mechanisms remain unexplored, we conducted this study to determine whether HIV and ART were associated with placental changes that could contribute to PTB.SettingWe collected and evaluated placentas from 38 HIV-positive women on ART and 43 HIV-negative women who had preterm deliveries in Nairobi, Kenya.MethodsAnatomical features of the placentas were examined at gross and microscopic levels. Cases were matched for gestational age and compared by the investigators who were blinded to maternal HIV serostatus.ResultsAmong preterm placentas, HIV infection was significantly associated with thrombosis (P = 0.001), infarction (P = 0.032), anomalies in cord insertion (P = 0.02), gross evidence of membrane infection (P = 0.043), and reduced placental thickness (P = 0.010). Overall, preterm placentas in both groups were associated with immature villi, syncytial knotting, villitis, and deciduitis. Features of HIV-positive versus HIV-negative placentas included significant fibrinoid deposition with villus degeneration, syncytiotrophoblast delamination, red blood cell adhesion, hypervascularity, and reduction in both surface area and perimeter of the terminal villi.ConclusionsThese results imply that HIV infection and/or ART are associated with morphological changes in preterm placentas that contribute to delivery before 37 weeks. Hypervascularity suggests that the observed pathologies may be attributable, in part, to hypoxia. Further research to explore potential mechanisms will help elucidate the pathways that are involved perhaps pointing to interventions for decreasing the risk of prematurity among HIV-positive women
Incommensurate antiferromagnetic fluctuations in single-crystalline LiFeAs studied by inelastic neutron scattering
We present an inelastic neutron scattering study on single-crystalline LiFeAs
devoted to the characterization of the incommensurate antiferromagnetic
fluctuations at . Time-of-flight
measurements show the presence of these magnetic fluctuations up to an energy
transfer of 60 meV, while polarized neutrons in combination with longitudinal
polarization analysis on a triple-axis spectrometer prove the pure magnetic
origin of this signal. The normalization of the magnetic scattering to an
absolute scale yields that magnetic fluctuations in LiFeAs are by a factor
eight weaker than the resonance signal in nearly optimally Co-doped
BaFeAs, although a factor two is recovered due to the split peaks owing
to the incommensurability. The longitudinal polarization analysis indicates
weak spin space anisotropy with slightly stronger out-of-plane component
between 6 and 12 meV. Furthermore, our data suggest a fine structure of the
magnetic signal most likely arising from superposing nesting vectors.Comment: 9 pages, 8 figure

Adding the reliability on tree based topology construction algorithms for wireless sensor networks
Topology control is a technique used in wireless sensor networks to maximize energy efficiency and network lifetime. In previous literature, many tree based techniques have been proposed to save energy and increase the network lifetime. In tree based algorithms, the most promising solution is the formation of a network backbone, which serves on behalf of rest of the nodes in the network and therefore leading towards Connected Dominating Set (CDS) formulation. However, one imminent problem with all tree based solution is a compromise on network reliability. Therefore, to address reliability issues in tree based solutions, in this paper, we propose Poly3 which maintains cliques of size three in order to achieve network reliability on top of the CDS algorithm. This makes the network more robust to link removal. Our empirical and mathematical analysis reveals that Poly3 provides better reliability than algorithms of the same kind
TRANSVERSE VAGINAL SEPTUM: A CONGENITAL MALFORMATION AND ITS MANAGEMENT IN A FEMALE DROMEDARY CAMEL
A seven year old female dromedary camel was examined for the complaint of inability to breed due to problem during penile intromission. Vaginoscopy, using equine tube vaginoscope, revealed the presence of a tissue flap cranial to the urethral opening, buldging caudally and separating the cranial and caudal parts of vagina. Digital palpation was also performed and the condition was diagnosed as transverse vaginal septum. For treatment, the vaginal septum was grasped with an Allis tissue forceps and a circular piece was severed from the center with the Metzenbaum scissors. The remaining portion of septum was then carefully trimmed. About 28 days after surgery, the animal showed heat signs and was mated. On ultrasonographic examination three months, post mating the animal was found pregnant

A 3D multi-frequency response electrical mesh phantom for validation of the planar structure EIT system performance
Assessment and validation of the Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) system performance and calibration of systematic errors in the electrical field generated inside of the interrogated volume is an important requirement. System instabilities can be caused by the EIT design and must be characterized before and during the clinical trials. Evaluation of the Sussex EIT system used in the clinical study can be based on a realistic electronic phantom. We designed a mesh phantom based on the electrode configuration and mesh structures of the image reconstruction. The phantom has the capability of modelling the cellular electrical properties that are operative within a circular homogeneous medium. The design is optimized to assess the planar topology of the internal impedance distribution. The system employs the information from the electrical properties of biological tissues to evaluate the Cole-Cole dispersion data. This mesh phantom is capable of producing localized conductivity perturbations between each arbitrary channel in the electrode placement planar phantom topology by measuring all 1416 combinations that are to be used in the image reconstruction. The phantom is especially designed for the Sussex EIT system to validate system performance of measurements consisting of SNR, and modelling system accuracy
