    Agricultural restructure policy in Vietnam and practical application for sustainable development in agriculture

    Recently, effective agricultural policies necessitate sustainable development in the agricultural sector, which necessitates frequent research and the attention of policymakers. Consequently, this study investigates the effect of agricultural restructuring policies on agricultural import, agricultural export, agricultural employment, agricultural irrigation land, and agricultural land on the sustainable development of agriculture in Vietnam. From 1991 to 2021, the researchers extracted secondary data from secondary sources such as World Development Indicators (WDI). The researchers also used the non-linear autoregressive distributed lag (NARDL) method to examine the relationships between the variables. The results revealed that agricultural restructuring policies regarding agricultural import, agricultural exports, agricultural employment, agricultural irrigation land, and agricultural land have a positive correlation with Vietnam's agriculture's sustainable development.     Pre-treatment potential of electro-coagulation process using aluminum and titanium electrodes for instant coffee processing wastewater

    This study aimed at investigating the potential of electrocoagulation (EC) process using Al-Al and Al-Ti electrodes for the pre-treatment of instant coffee processing wastewater. Effects of various operating conditions, including cell voltage, time of treatment, inter-electrode distance, pH of solution, solution conductivity and agitation speed on the removals of chemical oxygen demand (COD) and color were considered. The maximum removal of COD and color was achieved at 87% and 99%, respectively, corresponding to COD and color in the effluents of 359-384 mg/L and 58-101 Pt-Co. Biodegradability of treated wastewater was significantly improved since BOD5/COD increased from initial value of 0.42 to 0.65 after treatment. Nether mixing nor adding of electrolyte was recommended. Moreover, the COD removal kinetics during EC process appeared to follow the first-order kinetic model. The operating costs were also determined as a reference for cost assessment of the treatment

    Rice farmers' perception and determinants of climate change adaptation measures: a case study in Vietnam

    The study used Mann Kendall's and Sen's slope tests to elicit rice farmers' perceptions of climate change due to extreme weather occurrences and compared them to hydro-meteorological data. According to the findings, temperatures increased by 0.4 degrees during the last 35 years. While rainfall has increased, the pattern has been difficult to discern. The test results corroborated farmers' perceptions of increased heat spells, but rainfall frequency and intensity vary and are difficult to anticipate. Three adaptation strategies are frequently employed in the Nong Cong district: adjusting the seasonal calendar to alter transplanting and harvesting timing; increasing fertiliser and pesticide application; and changing variety to short-time kinds. Due to the interdependence of adaption techniques, the study used a multivariate probit model. The regression findings indicated that several relevant variables influence the decision to apply adaption methods. Numerous policy ideas for enhancing adaptation to climate change can be derived from the results of this study.     Factors impact on the effectiveness of internal control systems in credit facilities in Binh Thuan province commercial banks

    The study aims to confirm and measure factors that affect the effectiveness of internal control systems in credit facilities in Binh Thuan province commercial banks. This research used the framework by COSO 2013 and results of expert interviews to offer research models and scales. It was carried out for collecting data from 300 managers and employees of 10 commercial banks (30 people/bank) in Binh Thuan province in 2020. The study used a 5-level likert scale and used SPSS 22.0 software for analysis. The results of multivariate regression analysis (OLS) show that all factors: Risk assessment, Risk management, Control environment, Control procedure, Control activities, Credit control, Control capacity , Information, Communicates internally, Communicates externally have an impact on the effectiveness of internal control systems in credit facilities of commercial Banks in Binh Thuan province

    Discrimination of immune cell activation using Ramanmicro-spectroscopy in anin-vitro & ex-vivo model

    Activation and proliferation of immune cells such as lymphocytes and monocytes are appropriate inflammatory responses to invading pathogens and are key to overcoming an infection. In contrast, uncontrolled and prolonged activation of these cellular signalling pathways can be deleterious to the body and result in the development of autoimmune conditions. The understanding of cellular activatory status therefore plays a significant role in disease diagnosis and progression. Conventional automated approaches such as enzyme linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA) and immune-labelling techniques are time-consuming and expensive, relying on a commercially available and specific antibody to identify cell activation. Developing a label-free method for assessing molecular changes would therefore offer a quick and cost-efficient alternative in biomedical research. Here Raman spectroscopy is presented as an effective spectroscopic method for the identification of activated immune cells using both cell lines and primary cells (including purified monocyte and lymphocyte subgroups and mixed peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) populations) obtained from healthy donors. All cell lines and primary cells were exposed to different stimulants and cellular responses confirmed by flow cytometry or ELISA. Machine learning models of cell discrimination using Raman spectra were developed and compared to reference flow-cytometry, with spectral discrimination levels comparing favourably with the reference method. Spectral signatures of molecular expression after activation were also extracted with results demonstrating alignment with expected profiles. High performance classification models constructed in these in-vitro and ex-vivo studies enabled identification of the spectroscopic discrimination of immune cell subtypes in their resting and activated state. Further spectral fitting analysis identified a number of potential spectral biomarkers that elucidate the spectral classification

    Nematodes communities in Ba Lai river, Ben Tre province were investigated in September of 2015 (eight stations from estuary to upstream). The results showed that the nematodes communities have characterized by high density and biodiversity, providing useful information of nematodes assemblages in freshwater habitas, in particular inland river. Also the results indicated that the distribution of nematodes communities in Ba Lai river was strongly discriminated between in and outside of dam with two groups. The Ba Lai dam may be reasons for cause  the nematodes distribution discontinuity. Present study is a pioneering attempt to record the impact of the dam on benthic-invertebrate in Vietnam

    Quality properties Of Vietnamese cocoa liquors

    Vietnam (VN) is an emerging country targeting cocoa as a potential industrial domain. It is however still unclear how the quality of VN cocoa liquors can be positioned in the world cocoa supply. Three VN cocoa liquors exhibiting high to intermediate acidity (pH: 4.7 – 5.2) were selected to produce dark chocolate (48.0% sugar, 17.6% cocoa solids, 34.0% cocoa butter and 0.4% lecithin). A comparison study was conducted to investigate the difference between VN and Ghanaian (GH; pH: 5.6) dark chocolates in terms of Casson flow properties (yield stress sCA and viscosity hCA), hardness (F 20°C and F 30°C), water-soluble organic acid content, aroma profile and sensory evaluation.     Some triterpenoids and steroids from Bruguiera cylindrica leaves collected from Can Gio mangrove forest

    Bruguiera cylindrica (Rhizophoracea), distributed in the Southeast Asia, has been used as a traditional medicine in the treatment of diarrhea and healing of wounds. Some triterpenoids and steroids were isolated from the dried leaves of Bruguiera cylindrica, collected at Can Gio mangrove forest, Ho Chi Minh City, including lupeol (1), 3β-hydroxyoleana-9(11),12-diene (2), a mixture of stigmasterol (3a) and b-sitosterol (3b), cholesta-4-ene-3-one (4) and 3β-hydroxycholesta-5-ene-7-one (5). Their chemical structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analysis as well as comparing their data with the ones in the literature.
