    Weak Convergence to Stochastic Integrals for Econometric Applications

    Limit theory involving stochastic integrals is now widespread in time series econometrics and relies on a few key results on function space weak convergence. In establishing weak convergence of sample covariances to stochastic integrals, the literature commonly uses martingale and semimartingale structures. While these structures have wide relevance, many applications in econometrics involve a cointegration framework where endogeneity and nonlinearity play a major role and lead to complications in the limit theory. This paper explores weak convergence limit theory to stochastic integral functionals in such settings. We use a novel decomposition of sample covariances of functions of I(1) and I(0) time series that simpliļ¬es the asymptotic development and we provide limit results for such covariances when linear process, long memory, and mixing variates are involved in the innovations. The limit results extend earlier ļ¬ndings in the literature, are relevant in many econometric applications, and involve simple conditions that facilitate implementation in practice. A nonlinear extension of FM regression is used to illustrate practical application of the methods

    Preliminary study of improving immune tolerance in vivo of bioprosthetic heart valves through a novel antigenic removal method

    The durability of bioprosthetic heart valves is always compromised by the inherent antigenicity of biomaterials. Decellularization has been a promising approach to reducing the immunogenicity of biological valves. However, current methods are insufficient in eliminating all immunogenicity from the biomaterials, necessitating the exploration of novel techniques. In this study, we investigated using a novel detergent, fatty alcohol polyoxyethylene ether sodium sulfate (AES), to remove antigens from bovine pericardium. Our results demonstrated that AES treatment achieved a higher pericardial antigen removal rate than traditional detergent treatments while preserving the mechanical properties and biocompatibility of the biomaterials. Moreover, we observed excellent immune tolerance in the in vivo rat model. Overall, our findings suggest that AES treatment is a promising method for preparing biological valves with ideal clinical application prospects

    A review of research activities on opto-microfluidic sensors carried out by the research groups in Canada is presented. After a brief introduction of this exciting research field, detailed discussion is focused on different techniques for the fabrication of opto-microfluidic sensors, and various applications of these devices for bioanalysis, chemical detection, and optical measurement. Our current research on femtosecond laser microfabrication of optofluidic devices is introduced and some experimental results are elaborated. The research on opto-microfluidics provides highly sensitive opto-microfluidic sensors for practical applications with significant advantages of portability, efficiency, sensitivity, versatility, and low cost

    Data Mining for Adverse Events Signals of Acalabrutinib Based on FAERS Database

    Objective To explore the potential adverse reactions of acalabrutinib by mining and analyzing the pharmacovigilance signal of acalabrutinib, to provide a reference for clinically safe and rational drug use. Methods Data related to acalabrutinib in the FAERS database were searched, and pharmacovigilance signals were obtained using the disproportionality measurement. Results A total of 3, 155 reports of adverse events with acalabrutinib as the primary suspected drug were extracted, and 73 warning signals were detected involving 15 system organ classifications, 36 of which were not included in the drug instructions of acalabrutinib. The strong signals of acalabrutinib were mainly concentrated in various inflammatory and bleeding, anemia, contusion, atrial fibrillation, and so on. The largest number of system organ classification signals were focused on the blood and lymphatic system disorders, investigations, infections, and so on. In addition, the drug may cause tachycardia, brittle nails, and other warning signs. Through further analysis of gender-related adverse events, there were a total of 49 high-risk signals with gender differences found. Herein, male patients should pay attention to adverse reactions in bleeding, heart, urinary system, hypertension, and so on; meanwhile, female patients should be alert to adverse reactions in liver function, skin inflammation, and so on. Conclusion A total of 36 drug warning signs that are not mentioned in the instructions for acalabrutinib are mined using FAERS, and blood, infection, and cardiac toxicity require special attention. Thus, these signals should be detected promptly for effective prevention in clinical medication to reduce the risk of medication use for patients

    Design and Analysis of a Lower Limb Loadbearing Exoskeleton

    In recent years, the lower limb exoskeleton has been more and more widely used in military, medical and other fields. In this paper, the muscleā€“bone model of the lower limb during the human walking process is analyzed, and a lower limb exoskeleton with the purpose of loadbearing is designed. The exoskeleton is driven by four hydraulic cylinders to the hip and knee joints whose design load is 50 kg. The kinematic and dynamic model of the exoskeleton designed in this paper is established and analyzed, and it is simulated. Finally, the experiments were carried out on the exoskeleton test platform to verify that the stability, bearing capacity, tracking effect and durability of the exoskeleton can meet the requirements

    Gastrointestinal Dysfunctions Are Associated with IL-10 Variants in Parkinsonā€™s Disease

    Inflammation has been demonstrated to be involved in Parkinsonā€™s disease (PD) pathogenesis. There were evidences that the disturbance of the protective function of IL-10 gene contributed to PD. In our study, haplotype analyses were conducted of IL-10 rs1800871 and rs1800872 on 371 PD patients. Because the two SNPs exposed significant linkage disequilibrium demonstrated by Haploview software, we included 177 carriers of both rs1800871 and rs1800872 and 190 noncarriers in clinical phenotype analyses. As to nonmotor symptoms, the score of the gastrointestinal dysfunction domain in Nonmotor Symptom Scale (NMSS) was lower in the carrier group of both SNPs than in the noncarrier group in PD patients (SC: āˆ’0.198, p:0.023). Other nonmotor symptoms reflected by relevant rating scales showed negative results. As to comorbidity, no significant statistical significance was observed between the two SNPs and Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI). In conclusion, we found less severe gastrointestinal dysfunctions of both IL-10 rs1800871 and rs1800872 carriers than noncarriers in PD
