    Probing high-momentum component in nucleon momentum distribution by neutron-proton bremsstrahlung {\gamma}-rays in heavy ion reactions

    The high momentum tail (HMT) of nucleons, as a signature of the short-range correlations in nuclei, has been investigated by the high-energy bremsstrahlung γ\gamma rays produced in 86^{86}Kr + 124^{124}Sn at 25 MeV/u. The energetic photons are measured by a CsI(Tl) hodoscope mounted on the spectrometer CSHINE. The energy spectrum above 30 MeV can be reproduced by the IBUU model calculations incorporating the photon production channel from npnp process in which the HMTs of nucleons is considered. A non-zero HMT ratio of about 15%15\% is favored by the data. The effect of the capture channel npdγnp \to d\gamma is demonstrated

    Asymmetric Flow Field-Flow Fractionation with Multiangle Light Scattering Detection for Characterization of Cellulose Nanocrystals

    Cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) were analyzed by asymmetric flow field-flow fractionation (AF4) coupled with multiangle light scattering (MALS) detection. Small fractions were collected from the output of the AF4 apparatus for investigation by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The influence of CNC injection amount, the number of passes through a high-pressure homogenizer, and different CNC sources on the elution behavior and particle size distribution was investigated. The AF4-MALS results on crystal length were compared with those from TEM. Peak distortion and variation in elution profiles with the increase in sample load were observed. Good resolution was obtained when the injection mass varied from 20 to 40 μg, corresponding to injections of 4–8 μL at a starting concentration of ∼5 μg/μL; concentrations during the separation process and at the detector were significantly lower. As the number of homogenization treatments increased, the peak shape became narrower and more symmetrical. This indicates a narrowed crystal length distribution, but regardless of source or homogenization treatment, no CNC preparation was as uniform as tobacco mosaic virus, a well-known rigid rod model structure, whose length was found by AF4-MALS to be in agreement with literature values. CNCs derived from cotton contained longer crystals than those derived from microcrystalline cellulose, as shown by both AF4-MALS and TEM techniques. An advantage of AF4-MALS compared to TEM is the ability to sample large numbers of rodlike particles, which is challenging and time-consuming for TEM image analysis, especially without the presorting afforded by AF4. The good TMV results suggest a high degree of accuracy will pertain to the CNC size distribution measurements

    Effects of Dietary Isoleucine Supplementation on the Production Performance, Health Status and Cecal Microbiota of Arbor Acre Broiler Chickens

    A total of 24,000 healthy 1-day-old Arbor Acres broilers with similar initial weights were used in this study and fed a basal diet supplemented with 0, 400 and 800 mg/kg isoleucine (Ile), denoted CON, ILE400 and ILE800, respectively. Results revealed that the final body weight, average daily weight gain, and eviscerated carcass rate, of broiler chickens in the ILE400 group were significantly higher than in other groups (p < 0.05). In addition, the ILE400 and ILE800 groups had a lower feed conversion rate and a higher survival rate and breast muscle rate (p < 0.05), while the abdominal fat rate was significantly lower than the CON group (p < 0.05). There were significantly lower serum concentrations of UREA, glucose (GLU) and total cholesterol (TCHO) in the ILE400 and ILE800 groups than in the CON group (p < 0.05); glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) activity was significantly higher in the ILE400 group than in the other groups, and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) concentration was considerably lower than in other groups (p < 0.05). Moreover, interleukin (IL)-10 concentration in the ILE800 group was significantly higher than in the other groups (p < 0.05). The ILE400 group significantly down-regulated the mRNA expressions of fatty-acid synthase (FASN) and solid alcohol regulatory element binding protein 1c (SREBP1c), and significantly up-regulated the mRNA expressions of adipose triglyceride lipase (ATGL), hormone-sensitive lipase (HSL), lipoprotein lipase (LPL) and sirtuin1 (Sirt1) (p < 0.05). The ILE400 group had significantly higher intestinal villus height than the CON and ILE800 groups, while the ILE800 group had significantly lower intestinal villus height/crypt depth (p < 0.05). Furthermore, high-throughput sequencing showed that the Shannon index, and Verrucomicrobiota, Colidextribacter and Bacteroides abundances were significantly higher in the ILE400 group than in the CON group (p < 0.05). Interestingly, the ILE800 group reduced the Simpson index, phylum Firmicutes and Bacteroidota abundances (including genera Colidextribacter, Butyricicoccus, [Ruminococcus]_torques_group, Bacteroides, Alistipes, Barnesiella and Butyricimonas), and increased Proteobacteria and Cyanobacteria (including genera Dyella, Devosia, unidentified_Chloroplast and Hyphomicrobium) (p < 0.05). Overall, our study showed that adding 400 mg/kg Ile to the diet (diets total Ile levels at 1.01%, 0.90% and 0.87% during the starter, grower and finisher phases, respectively) increased production performance and improved the health status in broiler chickens

    Inhibition of Integrin αvβ3-FAK-MAPK signaling constrains the invasion of T-ALL cells

    ABSTRACTThe role of adhesion receptor integrin αvβ3 in T-ALL was unclear. Firstly, we performed quantitative real-time PCR to assess medullary expression of integrin β3(ITGB3) in T-ALL patients and high ITGB3 expression was relevant with the central nervous system leukemia(CNSL) incidence. Decreasing of cell invasion was observed in Jurkat and Molt4 treated with integrin αvβ3 specific antibody and inhibitor as well as cells with ITGB3 interference. Further, phosphorylation of FAK, cRAF, MEK and ERK decreased in cells with integrin αvβ3 inhibition or interference. Invasion decreased in T-ALL cells treated with FAK and ERK inhibitors. In conclusion, inhibition of integrin αvβ3 signals significantly limits the cell invasion of T-ALL cells
