    Food And Feeding Habits Of Schizothorax Niger In Dal-Lake,From Kashmir

    The food and feeding habits of Schizothorax niger in Dal-lake was studied by examining      guts collected throughout the year.The fish samples used in the study was within the range of 200mm to 340mm in total length and weight ranging from 100g to 424g in weight and the sampling duration was from March 2021 to April 2022.During the analysis the food and feeding habits of S.niger it was concluded that the fish is herbivorous.Its food mainly consists of plant matter 67.53% and 23.43% animal matter. Green algae, which made up around 30.01% of all food items, was the main contributor to the plant food. It was found to be at its highest (32.64%) in July and at its lowest (10.18%) in January. The primary source of animal food was crustaceans, which accounted for 16.20% of all food items. The highest percentage of crustaceans was reported in the month of February (30%), while the lowest percentage was recorded in the month of July (9%)

    This study focuses on impact of TV violence on aggression young viewers of Lahore. For this study 500 (Male, 250 and Female 250) students are taken as a sample size from different universities of Lahore. Data is collected through stratified and convenience sampling technique from the targeted population. Major results indicate the significant difference in exposure to TV violence and aggression of male and female students. Major results of statistical tests male student exposure and attitude to TV violence has significant impact on aggression but exposure of female student has not significant impact on aggression whereas attitude to TV violence has significant impact on aggression. Further, there is also need to set some sort of filters on media contents which are presenting violence

    Subacromial impingement syndrome (SAIS) represents a spectrum of pathology ranging from subacromial bursitis to rotator cuff tendinopathy and full-thickness rotator cuff tears. The relationship between subacromial impingement and rotator cuff disease in the etiology of rotator cuff injury is a matter of debate. However, the etiology is multi-factorial, and it has been attributed to both extrinsic and intrinsic mechanisms. Management includes physical therapy, injections, and, for some patients, surgery. No high-quality randomized controlled trials are available so far to provide possible evidence for differences in outcome of different treatment strategies. There remains a need for high-quality clinical research on the diagnosis and treatment of SAIS

    Analysis of localized solutions in coupled Gross-Pitavskii equations

    Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) have been one of the most active areas of research since their experimental birth in 1995. The complicated nature of the experiments on BECs suggests to observe them in reduced dimensions. The dependence of the collective excitations of the systems on the spatial degrees of freedom allows the study in lower dimensions. In this thesis, we first study two effectively one-dimensional parallel linearly coupled BECs in the presence of external potentials. The system is modelled by linearly coupled Gross-Pitaevskii (GP) equations. In particular, we discuss the dark solitary waves and the grey-soliton-like solutions representing analogues of superconducting Josephson fluxons which we refer to as the fluxon analogue (FA) solutions. We analyze the existence, stability and time dynamics of FA solutions and coupled dark solitons in the presence of a harmonic trap. We observe that the presence of the harmonic trap destabilizes the FA solutions. However, stabilization is possible by controlling the effective linear coupling between the condensates. We also derive theoretical approximations based on variational formulations to study the dynamics of the solutions semi-analytically. We then study multiple FA solutions and coupled dark solitons in the same settings. We examine the effects of trapping strength on the existence and stability of the localized solutions. We also consider the interactions of multiple FA solutions as well as coupled dark solitons. In addition, we determine the oscillation frequencies of the prototypical structures of two and three FA solutions using a variational approach. Finally, we consider two effectively two-dimensional parallel coupled BECs enclosed in a double well potential. The system is modelled by two GP equations coupled by linear and nonlinear cross-phase-modulations. We study a large set of radially symmetric nonlinear solutions of the system in the focusing and defocusing cases. The relevant three principal branches, i.e. the ground state and the first two excited states, are continued as a function of either linear or nonlinear couplings. We investigate the linear stability and time evolution of these solutions in the absence and presence of a topological charge. We notice that only the chargeless or charged ground states can be stabilized by adjusting the linear or nonlinear coupling between the condensates

    Use of femoral nail with spiral blade in subtrochanteric fractures

    Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the outcome of acute subtrochanteric fractures managed with intramedullary nail and spiral blade fixation of the proximal fragment.Methods: Charts of 33 patients (17 males and 16 females) with acute subtrochanteric fractures operated with intramedullary nail and spiral blade at our institution between March 2006 and February 2011 were retrospectively reviewed. The most common (67%) mechanism of injury was ground-level fall, predominantly involving elderly patients. Results were evaluated in terms of union time, implant failure rate, infection rate and functional outcome.Results: Mean duration of surgery was 2.4 hours and average length of hospital stay was 7 days. Mean radiological healing time was 16 weeks. Good healing occurred in 31 (94%) patients within 6 months of surgery. Uneventful healing occurred in 28 (85%) patients and 3 (9%) had delayed healing requiring dynamization in two patients and bone grafting in one. Implant failure occurred in 2 (6%) patients within 2 months of index surgery requiring repeat surgery. One (3%) patient had varus malunion.Conclusion: Intramedullary nailing with spiral blade is a good option for acute subtrochanteric fractures with promising results. We think that this is a superior device compared to conventional methods of fixation for subtrochanteric fractures

    Improved clinical competence and patients satisfaction: Comparison of patient-centered, interdisciplinary collaborative round versus traditional post-partum round

    The origin of the patient-centered interdisciplinary collaborative round, which involves health care members of all levels at a time, is an effective and emerging approach to offer inpatient healthcare. Traditionally, post-partum rounds at teaching hospitals consisted of separate visits from all members of the obstetric team that resulted in patient inconvenience, care insufficiencies, and communication gaps. The main objective of this study was to assess the patient\u27s satisfaction level from the traditional post-partum round versus the patient-centered collaborative care (PCCC) round. This study showed that in the traditional round, the patient\u27s satisfaction with the treatment was 95.1%; whereas, in PCCC rounds it was 96.9%. Patients were more satisfied with the treatment options discussed with them and the results of the medical tests explained to them. In conclusion, the survey showed that the implementation of the PCCC round improved patient satisfaction

    Segmental excision versus intralesional curettage with adjuvant therapy for giant cell tumour of bone

    Abstract PURPOSE: To review the functional outcome and local recurrence rate of 29 patients who underwent segmental excision or intralesionalcurettage with adjuvant therapy for giant cell tumour (GCT) of bone. METHODS: Records of 17 men and 12 women (mean age, 30.17 years) who underwent segmental excision (n=18) or intralesional curettage followed by adjuvant therapy (n=11) for GCT of the femur (n=13), tibia (n=8), radius (n=6), or ulna (n=2) were reviewed. Nine of the patients had recurrent GCT of bone and had undergone segmental excision (n=6) or intralesional curettage (n=3) elsewhere. Functional outcome was evaluated using the Musculoskeletal Tumour Society (MSTS) scoring system. RESULTS: The mean follow-up period was 6.4 (range, 3-13.5) years. 14 patients were followed up for 3 to 5 years, 12 for 5 to 10 years, and 3 for \u3e10 years. Of 20 patients with primary GCT of bone, 12 underwent segmental excision and had no recurrence, and 8 underwent intralesional curettage, 2 of whom developed local recurrence. Of the remaining 9 patients with recurrent GCT of bone, there was one re-recurrence in each surgical option. Local recurrence was not associated with Campanacci grading or type of surgery. One of 18 patients with segmental excision and 3 of 11 patients with intralesional curettage had local recurrence (5.6% vs. 27.3%, p=0.139). The MSTS score was excellent in 7, good in 6, moderate in 2, fair in 2, and poor in one patient after segmental excision, whereas the score was excellent in 9 and good in 2 patients after intralesional curettage (p=0.206). The proportion of yielding an excellent outcome was higher after intralesionalcurettage (38.9% vs. 81.8%, p=0.0289). Nonetheless, the mean MSTS score of the 2 groups was comparable (74.17% vs. 86.36%, p=0.054). CONCLUSION: Local recurrence of GCT was not associated with the surgical option. Nonetheless, intralesional curettage resulted in better functional outcome
