A Collaboration Between Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), Audiolingual, and Community Language Learning (CLL) Approach in Teaching and Learning English at SMA 1 Singorojo Kendal

This research aimed to investigate and analyze the collaboration of communicative language teaching approach, audiolingual method, and cooperative language learning method which were applied during teaching - learning process in twelve grade of science 2 students in SMA 1 Singorojo Kendal.  This research employed descriptive qualitative research design. The instruments of this study were interview and observation which took approximately fifty minutes. In order to motivate and improve students’ speaking ability, so the teacher taught them in simple way first, then followed by synthesizing both of essentials methods and techniques. The result showed that teacher designed the classroom activity by implementing curriculum 2013 in which emphasized on communicative language teaching (CLT) approach. The researchers found that the teacher organized some methods in delivering material. He also provided fun and interesting games to encourage students’ motivation in learning English.The researchers infer that there are collaboration between CLT approach, audiolingual method, and CLL method as an alternative strategy in learning English

A REGISTER ANALYSIS OF PHOTOGRAPHERS COMMENTARIES ON SOCIAL MEDIA COMMUNITY (INSTAGRAM)

This research aimed to investigate the linguistics form, meaning, and motive based on Rembang photographers’ commentaries on social media called Instagram. The researchers employed qualitative research design with the object was photographers’ conversation. The researcher collected the data through observation and documentation. The researchers analysed the data by identifying the linguistics form by selecting register into word and phrase. Second, the researchers analyzed the meaning of the register by identifying the context of the data situation based on Larson’s theory. Third, the researchers analyzed the motives of the register based on Hockett’s theory. Therefore, the researchers revealed the high frequency of linguistics forms was in noun. The researchers found one abbreviation, three nouns, one adjective, one verb, one compound, one clipping, one noun phrase, and one verb phrase. The researchers also found 2 lexical meanings (20%) and 8 contextual meanings (80%). Moreover, 8 need filling motives and 2 prestige filling motives were identified within the conversation. The tendency of using contextual meaning can refer to need filling motive because the speaker employ this meaning in order to adjust the lexical terms based on their needs amid the communication. Meanwhile, the tendency of using lexical meaning can represent prestige filling motive. Here, the speakers tend to emulate the speech pattern of those who have same profession, same interest, or same topic of communication. Both of those meanings are essential to support their profession as a photographer

AN INVESTIGATION OF MOOD AND TRANSITIVITY ANALYSIS IN THE SHORT STORY “FRUIT PASSION”

This research aimed to investigate mood and transitivity analysis  employed in popular short story Fruit Passion. the reseacher choose one of short story from 8th grade of junior high school students’ textbook. This text belongs to jokes for kids which mostly found in meme. The objectives of the research are analysing the interpersonal meaning realized in the short story by identifying the mood types, speech roles, and modality. Besides that, identifying the process based on ideational meaning and explaining the contribution of both interpersonal meaning and ideational meaning towards teaching English as a foreign language in Indonesia. The result revealed that the prominent use of  statements in the text, the author provides a broad and comprehensible information in the short story. Therefore, the objective of the text is successfully achieved based on the text genre. Besides that, the existence of ideational meaning which apply material process as the dominant process revealed that mostly the story emphasizes on what the actor do or what happen to the actor. The employment of material process in narrative text assists the author in designing the story plot in order to construct comprehensible and meaningful story. Keywords: Mood analysis, transitivity, short-story
