Systematic Review of Stigmas Present against Disabled Children Globally and How These Stigmas Vary across Regions and Population and Comprehensive Review of the Perceptions and Attitudes that Disabled Children Face Globally
A Thesis submitted to The University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Medicine.Current literature shows that disabled individuals are vulnerable compared to their abled body counterparts in a variety of measures, disability varies across regions and cultures and that attitudes toward these disabilities may also vary globally. Literature searches using keyword searches were done based on search strings of “childhood disability” with other phrases. Outcome variables included region, population studied, a general description of the attitudes, a broader category into which the type of attitude falls and whether or not there were persistent negative attitudes toward disability. Meta analyses were done for outcomes. An initial 114 articles were screened to be relevant to the topic. 15 articles had data extracted. Descriptive results demonstrated that cultural and religious norms are associated with negative attitudes toward disability. Meta analyses did not demonstrate any statistical significance between the cultural, religious or regional factors in the likelihood of having negative attitudes toward disability. The association between religion, culture and region and the likelihood of having negative attitudes was not statistically significant. The presence of negative attitudes on the basis of culturally or religiously held beliefs, globally, does appear to exist on review of the literature. This item is part of the College of Medicine - Phoenix Scholarly Projects 2019 collection. Transmission shaft design for hydrokinetic turbine with reliability consideration
Hydrokinetic energy, a relatively new kind of renewable energy, can be generated from flowing water in rivers or oceans. Hydrokinetic turbines (HKTs) are a major system for hydrokinetic energy, and the reliability of the HKTs is critical for both their lifecycle cost and safety. The objective of this work is to apply advanced methodologies of reliability analysis and reliability-based design to the transmission shaft design for a horizontal-axis, non-submerged HKT. The deterministic shaft design is performed first by considering failure modes of strength and deflection using distortion energy, maximum shear and deflection theories. Then the reliability analysis of the shaft designed is performed by using Sampling Approach to Extreme Values of Stochastic Process method (SAEVSP). Finally reliability-based design is applied to the transmission shaft design, which results in the minimal shaft diameter that satisfies the reliability requirement for a given period of operation time. Since the time-dependent river velocity process is involved, the time-dependent reliability method is used in the reliability-based design. The methodology for the shaft design in this work can be extended to the design of other components in the HKT system --Abstract, page iii
ESTIMATION OF LIPID PROFILE AND ASSESSMENT OF CARDIOVASCULAR RISK IN SMOKERS BY USING NEW ATHEROGENIC INDICES
Objective: Smoking habit leads to elevated levels of lipid profile thus increasing the cardiovascular disease risk in coronary heart disease. The aim ofstudy is undertaken to evaluate plasma lipid profile, of the male smoker with non-smoker's healthy matched control and assessing the cardiovascularrisk by using new atherogenic indices. Methods: Fasting blood samples were collected form both cases and controls and estimation of lipid profile by using by using autoanalyzer. A detailedphysical and anthropometric parameters information was collected form each participant subjects. Results: Plasma total cholesterol (TC) (221.52±8.34), triglyceride (TG) (274.94±28.70) low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-c) (129.22±7.76),very LDL-c (VLDL-c) (54.98±5.74) and non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol NonHDL-c (HDL-c) (183.26±7.58) in smokers subjects, which weresignificantly (p<0.0001) higher compared with non-smokers, while HDL-c significantly (38.25±1.34; p<0.001) decreased in smokers as comparedto non-smokers. Further, atherogenic ratios like, Castelli's risk index (CRI-I)=TC/HDL-c, CRI-II=LDL-c/HDL-c, atherogenic coefficient = (TC–HDL-c)/HDL-c TG/HDL-c ratio, and atherogenic index of plasma =log (TG/HDL-c) were calculated for individual subjects by using lipid profile. All these lipidratio are significantly (p<0.0001) in smoker group. Conclusion: Our conclusion, these ratio's could be used for identifying individual at higher risk of cardiovascular disease in the clinical practicesespecially, when the absolute values of lipid profile seem normal or higher and not markedly deranged or in centers with insufficient resources. Keywords: Cigarette smoking, Lipid profile, Cardiovascular risk, Atherogenic indices
POINT PREVALENCE OF PAEDIATRIC DENGUE VIRAL INFECTION
Objective: The study's objective is to evaluate the prevalence of dengue in the paediatric age group based on demographic data and clinical symptoms.
Methods: The study was conducted in the Department of Paediatrics and Central Research Laboratory in a Tertiary Care Hospital in Visakhapatnam. Six months of data were collected from Jan 2022 to June 2022 and a maximum of 100 OPD/IPD cases have been registered during this study period. The entire medical history of all dengue cases, including signs and symptoms, method of diagnosis, management, length of stay, and clinical outcomes, were collected from patient information. NS1 antigen detection was performed by rapid test and Dengue ELISA was performed as a confirmatory test for the detection of IgG and IgM antibodies.
Results: Among the 100 suspected cases of dengue reported to OPD/IPD, 83(83%) were confirmed as dengue positive, and 17(17%) were found to be non-dengue cases with ELISA. More cases were noticed in female children 52 (55%). Prevalence was more in the age group of 5-11 y 43 (52%). The majority number of cases were reported with fever 82 (98.8%) followed by symptoms like vomiting 41(49%), cold 19(16%), and cough 18(15%).
Conclusion: Understanding dengue fever in children, including clinical symptoms, etiology, diagnostic testing, therapy, and prevention, is critical for lowering disease fatality rates
A Note on One Sided and Two Sided PO-Ternary Ideals in PO-Ternary Semiring
In this paper the term, left(lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideal, maximal left(lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideal, left (lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideal of T generated by a set A, principal left (lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideal generated by an element a left (lateral, right and two sided) simple PO-ternary semiring are introduced. It is proved that (1) the non-empty intersection of any two left (lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideals of a PO-ternary semiring T is a left (lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideal of T. (2) non-empty intersection of any family of left (lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideals of a POternary semiring T is a left(lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideal of T. (3) the union of any left PO-ternary ideals of a PO-ternary semiring T is a left PO-ternary ideal of T. (4) the union of any family of left(lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideals of a PO-ternary semiring T is a left(lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideal of T. (5) The left (lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideal of a PO-ternary semiring T generated by a non-empty subset A is the intersection of all left(lateral, right and two sided) PO-ternary ideals of T containing A. (6) If T is a PO-ternary semiring and a∈T then L(a) = (Te Tea + na] = (Te Tea U na] (M(a) = (Tea Te + TeTe aTeTe + na] = ( Tea Te U TeTe aTeTe U na], R (a) = (aTe Te + na ] = (aTe Te U na] and T(a) = (Te Tea + aTe Te + TeTe aTeTe +na] = (Te Tea UaTe Te UTeTe aTeTe Una]). (7) A PO-ternary semiring T is a left(lateral, right) simple PO-ternary semiring if and only if (TTa] = T ((TaT U TTaTT] = T, (aTT] = T) for all a∈T
ENHANCED VISIBILITY AND FORWARDING IN A TELCOMMUNICATION DATA CENTER FABRIC
In current telecommunication (telco) deployments, data center networks do not have visibility into subscriber traffic and cannot apply functions related to the subscriber traffic. Techniques presented herein provide for a methodology through which a General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) Tunneling Protocol (GTP) tunnel ID (TEID) in a packet GTP header can be used as endpoint security group classification criteria. Classifying packets into security groups may allow for aggregating subscriber mobile traffic and for facilitating the enforcement of granular policies
Dynamic Functions of RhoA in Tumor Cell Migration and Invasion
RhoA is one of the more extensively studied members of the Rho family of small GTPase where it is most readily recognized for its contributions to actin-myosin contractility and stress fiber formation. Accordingly, RhoA function during cell migration has been relegated to the rear of the cell where it mediates retraction of the trailing edge. However, RhoA can also mediate membrane ruffling, lamellae formation and membrane blebbing, thus suggesting an active role in membrane protrusions at the leading edge. With the advent of fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET)-based Rho activity reporters, RhoA has been shown to be active at the leading edge of migrating cells where it precedes Rac and Cdc42 activation. These observations demonstrate a remarkable versatility to RhoA signaling, but how RhoA function can switch between contraction and protrusion has remained an enigma. This review highlights recent advances regarding how the cooperation of Rho effector Rhotekin and S100A4 suppresses stress fiber generation to permit RhoA-mediated lamellae formation
GROUP-BASED POLICIES FOR MICRO-SEGMENTATION WITH STANDARD VIRTUAL EXTENSIBLE LOCAL AREA NETWORK (VXLAN) OVERLAY
Standard Virtual Extensible Local Area Network (VXLAN) headers do not provide the space to carry policy information from ingress Network Virtual Ethernet (NVE) devices to egress NVE devices. The option to provide the bits/bytes to carry this information is provided with different header formats, however, some bases are unable to parse these other frame formats. According to techniques described herein, group-based policies may be implemented over standard VXLAN overlays, thereby eliminating the cost of implementing custom protocol modifications and helping data center customers by remaining with their existing fabrics without costly upgrades
Authentication Using Voice Recognition and Timestamp OTP
This work is related to providing security using authentication. By looking into other research works, we have found many attacks while logging in a system like phishing attack, brute force attack, etc. We came up with a solution which uses voice biometric as a recognition technique and also adding a time stamp one-time password (TOTP) which will help in providing a better authentication during login. Voice recognition technique uses a Bark frequency scale mapped with the input voice signal and made into spectral analysis with cepstral coefficients which is tough to forge, and adding this with TOTP provides stronger security in today’s Internet of Things (IOT)
