Study of the level of public awareness about the diagnosis and prevention of hypo - and hyperparathyroidism

The article deals with such diseases as hyperparathyroidism and hypoparathyroidism. The increase in morbidity, as well as the lack of optimal treatment, which can lead to complications of patients, dictate the need to study the epidemiological and clinical structure of these diseases to determine the scope of medical care, as well as the dissemination of information about hyper- and hypoparathyroidism as endocrine diseases by the questionnaire method.В статье рассмотрены такие заболевания как гиперпаратиреоз и гипопаратиреоз. Рост заболеваемости, а также отсутствие оптимального лечения, что может привести к осложнениям пациентов диктуют необходимость изучения эпидемиологической и клинической структуры данных заболеваний для определения объема медицинской помощи, а также распространение информации о гипер- и гипопаратиреозе как эндокринных заболеваниях методом анкетирования

The project «Safe tour» as a way to raise public awareness concerning measures of preventing infections and worm-parasitic infection while visiting popular tourist countries

The article considers the possible accessible forms of presenting information on the prevention of helminthiasisand other parasitic infection when citizens of the Russian Federation visit popular tourist countries. In order to select possible forms of presenting preventive information, a survey of 142 respondents was conducted, and the market for such proposals was analyzed. The best forms are mobile applications, Internet site and brochures provided by travel agencies.В статье рассмотрены возможные доступные формы представления информации о профилактике инфицирования и глистно- паразитарного заражения (ГПЗ) при посещении гражданами РФ популярных туристических стран. Для выбора возможных форм представления профилактической информации было проведено анкетирование 142 респондентов, а также проанализирован рынок подобных предложений. Оптимальными формами являются мобильные приложения, сайт в сети Интернет и брошюры, предоставляемые туристическими агентствами

Acromegaly as a disease of the endocrine system

The article deals medical and biological characteristics of the disease acromegaly. A survey was conducted aimed at identifying the awareness of different categories of people about endocrine diseases, in particular about acromegaly. 145 people of different age categories took part in the survey. The two main age groups of respondents are from 10 to 18 years and from 30 to 45 years. Among them, the majority of women (69%), the smaller part of men (31%).В статье рассмотрены медико-биологические характеристики заболевания акромегалия. Проведено анкетирование, нацеленное на выявление осведомлённости разных категорий людей об эндокринных заболеваниях, в частности об акромегалии. В опросе принимали участие 145 человек разных возрастных категорий. Две основные возрастные группы респондентов - от 10 до 18 лет и от 30 до 45 лет. Среди которых большая часть женщин (69%), меньшая мужчин (31%)

The real-time PCR detection of Clostridium perfringens and Clostridium difficile in infant, child, and adult feces

The toxigenic strains of C. perfringens and C. difficile can cause foodborne illnesses and antibiotic-associated diarrhea, including pseudomembranous colitis. The latter needs to be treated with the specific antibiotics, metronidazole or vancomycin, which are effective against C. difficile. Both C. difficile and C. perfringens are the anaerobic bacteria and difficult to cultivate. The most reliable method for the detection of these bacteria in the clinical samples is real-time PCR. We evaluated the frequency of C. perfringens and C. difficile PCR detection in feces from 225 outpatients (Colonoflor-16 kit, Alphalab, Russia). C. perfringens and C. difficile were detected in 36 (16.0%) and 17 (7.6%) samples, respectively. The results were stratified by age. There was statistically significant difference between age groups in the frequency of C. difficile detection and no statistically significant difference in frequency of C. perfringens detection. The amounts of C. difficile were significantly higher in children younger than 2 years in comparison with adults.Токсигенные штаммы C. perfringens и C. difficile могут вызывать развитие пищевых инфекций и антибиотико-ассоциированных диарей, включая псевдомембранозный колит. Для лечения последнего используют специальные антибиотики: клиндамицин и метранидазол, активные в отношении C. difficile. C. perfringens и C. difficile являются облигатно анаэробными микроорганизмами, что затрудняет проведение культурального исследования. Наиболее надежным методом для рутинного обнаружения данных клостридий в клинических образцах является ПЦР в реальном времени (ПЦР-РВ). Мы оценили частоту обнаружения C. perfringens и C. difficile методом ПЦР-РВ в кале у 225 амбулаторных больных (набор Колонофлор-16, Альфлаб, Россия). C. perfringens и C. difficile были идентифицированы в 36 (16.0%) и 17 (7.6%) образцах соответственно. Обнаружили статистически значимые различия по частоте обнаружения C. difficile в различных возрастных группах, тогда как C. perfringens обнаруживали с сопоставимой частотой у пациентов всех возрастов. Количество C. difficile было достоверно выше у детей младше 2 лет по сравнению с взрослыми
