Pressure dependence of the magnetoresistance oscillations spectrum of beta''-(BEDT-TTF)4(NH4)[Fe(C2O4)3].DMF
The pressure dependence of the interlayer magnetoresistance of the quasi-two
dimensional organic metal beta''-(BEDT-TTF)4(NH4)[Fe(C2O4)3].DMF has been
investigated up to 1 GPa in pulsed magnetic fields up to 55 T. The Shubnikov-de
Haas oscillations spectra can be interpreted on the basis of three compensated
orbits in all the pressure range studied, suggesting that the Fermi surface
topology remains qualitatively the same as the applied pressure varies. In
addition, all the observed frequencies, normalized to their value at ambient
pressure, exhibit the same sizeable pressure dependence. Despite this behavior,
which is at variance with that of numerous charge transfer salts based on the
BEDT-TTF molecule, non-monotonous pressure-induced variations of parameters
such as the scattering rate linked to the various detected orbits are observed.Comment: accepted for publication in Phys. Rev.
De Haas-van Alphen oscillations in the compensated organic metal alpha-'pseudo-kappa'-(ET)4H3O[Fe(C2O4)3].(C6H4Br2)
Field-, temperature- and angle-dependent Fourier amplitude of de Haas-van
Alphen (dHvA) oscillations are calculated for compensated two-dimensional (2D)
metals with textbook Fermi surface (FS) composed of one hole and two electron
orbits connected by magnetic breakdown. It is demonstrated that, taking into
account the opposite sign of electron and hole orbits, a given Fourier
component involves combination of several orbits, the contribution of which
must be included in the calculations. Such FS is observed in the strongly 2D
organic metal alpha-'pseudo-kappa'-(ET)4H3O[Fe(C2O4)3].(C6H4Br2), dHvA
oscillations of which have been studied up to 55 T for various directions of
the magnetic field with respect to the conducting plane. Calculations are in
good quantitative agreement with the data.Comment: European Physical Journal B (2014
Compliance with corporate governance principles as element of Russian economy investment attractiveness
Over the last few years, the concept of corporate governance in relation to Russian economic realities has been used relatively recently. The concept of corporate governance in the economic practice of Russia was synonymous with production management in 1990-2000 At the same time, "good corporate governance" is a set of activities of public companies in order to ensure high demand for their shares and debt securities from portfolio investors. Corporate governance is a means of trust development both in individual companies and in the stock market of the country as a whole, which is of great importance for long-term investment attraction. According to various global ratings of the countries (for example, to the rating of the financial conglomerate Morgan Stanley, the Russian stock market is classified as an emerging market that provides increased investment returns. The article attempts to determine the main priorities of institutional investors for corporate governance in Russia. The authors come to the conclusion that the development of the corporate governance system is one of the key factors increasing the investment attractiveness of Russian companies. Government regulators take measures to create corporate governance standards, one example of which is the recommendation to use the Corporate Governance Code approved by the Board of Directors of the Bank of Russia in 2014. In fact, the article highlights both positive and negative trends in the Russian practice of corporate governance. It provides the results of opinion polls among investors, which reveal their motivation to make investment decisions in the Russian market
Victor Pelevin's Novel about Vampires as the form of Reflection on Postmodernism
The current stage of culture development is usually defined as post-postmodern. Although this term is not well established and is interpreted differently, in any case it involves the overcoming of postmodernism. In Russian literature we should mention Victor Pelevin among the authors, whose works demonstrate the post-postmodernist tendencies most clearly. The evolution of his prose testifies that the postmodern worldview and the very mechanism of postmodern writing has become the subject of critical reflection in the late works of the writer. The novel by V. Pelevin "Empire V" (2006) is the material of the analysis in the article. The aim of the study is to reveal the nature and the forms of postmodernism reflection manifested in this work. During the analysis the authors established that Pelevin plays with a popular genre of mass culture - a novel about vampires, using it as a kind of metaphorical way to clarify the nature of postmodern literature, which appropriates, absorbs and exploits the forms, ideas and motives earlier developed in culture. Postmodernists, like vampires, borrow information from different sources and use "someone else's blood" for their own purposes. Combining the "languages" of mass and elite cultures, activating the intertextual links, Pelevin eventually pursues antipostomodernist goals: he reveals the totality of the simulativity, proves that mass culture is ready to absorb postmodernism, and turn it into an empty signifier. This can be defined as a kind of cultural reflection, as a form of the self-reflection and writer’s cognition on the state of modern culture
Quantum oscillations in coupled orbits networks of (BEDT-TTF) salts with tris(oxalato)metallate anions
Band structure calculations relevant to bis-ethylenedithio-tetrathiafulvalene-based charge transfer salts containing tris(oxalato)metallate anions, with generic formula (BEDT-TTF)4A[M(C2O4)3]·Solv, where A is a monovalent anion, M is a trivalent cation and Solv is a solvent, suggest that their Fermi surface is liable to achieve networks of compensated orbits coupled by magnetic breakdown. Even though this picture accounts for quantum oscillations spectra of a number of these compounds, puzzling results can be noticed in several cases, pointing to the possibility of Fermi surface reconstruction at low temperature. The support of the European Magnetic Field Laboratory (EMFL) is acknowledged.
