Fragments and Coherence: Celebrity Femininities in Cover Story of Kartini Magazine

This paper discusses the notion of femininity values assigned to women and considered to be the sign of womanhood. More specifically, it discusses the representation of female celebrity femininity as staged in their auto/biographical practice in women\u27s magazines Kartini. The paper also analyses how celebrity auto/biographical practices constitute what can be considered as feminine narrative [structure] that is fragmented yet coherent. Focusing on the issues of time and space, I argue that autobiographical practice in print media such as women\u27s magazines, despite its popular terrain, displays a complex structure of fragments and coherence in representing female celebrities as both public persona and private persons. Likewise, the alternative form of auto/biographical practices appearing in women\u27s magazines suggest that more embracing critical accounts of contemporary auto/biographical practices are necessary

Application of Prototype Method on Student Monitoring System Based on WEB

Public vocational school in Subang which continues to improve its academic activities, specifically in terms of improving student discipline related to student participation in school and improving student achievement. The collection of information about student participation and the value of new students delivered at the end of the semester compilation of report cards makes students who experience difficulties in the development of grades, meetings and student learning activities at school, for that we need a system that can help students to help guardians of students and the school in activities that involve students in school. In this research, we use a prototype method for system development. The advantage of the system built is that it can send attendance messages or student grades to enter no answers or get poor test scores for student guardians, student guardians can provide feedback on incoming information and make permits through the existing information system pages, the school also can use attendance data and grades to support activities at school

Celebrity Auto/Biography and the Construction of Ageing Selves

This paper investigates the notion ageing femininity as it is performed within the frame of celebrity culture which privileges youthfulness in beauty and body image. It focuses on the issues of age, the process of ageing, the significance of ageing, the impact of ageing as part of the construction of celebrity identity and femininity. Age[ing] is an important context that female celebrities need to negotiate and embrace the ways in which cultural values need to be considered as well. Looking into the portrayal of the auto/biographical subjects and the visual images used, the paper argues that celebrities negotiate, transform and extend their forms of femininity as they age. Both auto/biographies present their auto/biographical subjects to show the construction of appealing ageing celebrity femininities that are closely linked to the characteristics of the Third Agers, being fit, fashionable, functional and flexible

From “Hot Mommies” to Differently Abled Mothers: Diverse Portrayals of Mothering in an Indonesian Women’s Magazine

Mothering and motherhood are among two key components of the construction of femininity. This study examined how mothering is embodied and performed by various women in Femina, Indonesia’s most popular women’s magazine, which targets primarily middle- or upper-middle-class women in their twenties and thirties. The sample set consisted of 17 portrayals of women as mothers in Femina during the years 2015 and 2016. We found that Femina depicts various ways in which women can function as mothers while remaining contented and balancing their different roles; in doing so, the magazine encourages a feminine and feminist celebration of mothering. Femina’s representations allow for the bridging and embracing of differences while at the same time constructing an ideal notion of femininity that highlights women’s ability to be successful in each of the multiple domains they enter, including their role as a mother

Modifikasi Wayang Topeng Malangan di Padepokan Asmoro Bangun, Kedungmonggo Pakisaji, Malang

Artikel ini membahas Perubahan atau modifikasi pada kesenian tradisional Wayang Topeng Malangan yang telah lama berkembang di kota Malang, Jawa Timur. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Perubahan yang terjadi pada Wayang Topeng Malangan yang dilakukan oleh seniman dalam mempertahankan kesenian tersebut pada masa sekarang, yang cenderung didominasi oleh budaya pop. Artikel ini ditulis untuk menjawab beberapa rumusan masalah, yaitu pertama, bagaimana modifikasi Wayang Topeng Malangan dilakukan pada unsur pertunjukan dan kerajinan topeng, dan kedua adalah bagaimana modifikasi tersebut memengaruhi peran dan fungsi kesenian Wayang Topeng Malangan saat ini. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan wawancara, observasi dan studi dokumen sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. Data dianalisis menggunakan teknik triangulasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa modifikasi bentuk pertunjukan dan kerajinan topeng dilakukan dengan menyederhanakan dan mempercantik bentuk busana dan ragam hiasan, mengubah material dan proses pembuatan topeng. Sedangkan modifikasi gagasan terimplementasikan pada Perubahan pakem (aturan tradisi), seperti mempersingkat waktu pergelaran dan memberikan aturan baru keterlibatan perempuan dalam kesenian Wayang Topeng Malangan. Modifikasi bentuk pertunjukan dan kerajinan topeng serta gagasan berkaitan dengan Wayang Topeng Malangan memengaruhi peran dan fungsi Wayang Topeng Malangan, yang tidak sekedar sebagai seni, namun juga sebuah komoditas (produk)

Reinterpretation and Reconstruction of the Folktale Jaka Tarub into Akhudiat’s Play Jaka Tarub: A New Historicist Reading

The article examines the transformation of ‘Jaka Tarub’, a folktale contained in Babad Tanah Jawi, into the play Jaka Tarub by Akhudiat. Jaka Tarub by Akhudiat is a two-act play that is parodic in style. The play won the 1974 Jakarta Arts Council Playwriting Competition. The aim of the article is to study how the tale is interpreted and reconstructed into Indonesian contemporary literature. The transformation of the tale is analyzed from a new historicist perspective. The analysis suggests that the history of a nation can be read through its literature since New Historicism sees that texts and history are always, inevitably, interrelated. Based on such a perspective, there is no longer such a thing as a single absolute ‘historical reality’. Instead, there are always different versions and perspectives of history. Akhudiat’s reinterpretation and reconstruction of the folktale represent Indonesia in the 1970s. Seen in this light, an Indonesian literary text that reflects history can be regarded as another version of history. Thus, New Historicism offers an appropriate approach to study such a literary text because it is through a New Historicist approach to reading that realities unwritten in mainstream texts of history become accessible to the reader or audience.     Keywords: folktale, reconstruction, reinterpretation, transformatio

Pendokumentasian Kasus HAM melalui Sistem Informasi Bebasis Web

The Agency of Human Rights Research and Development as the unit echelon 1  were under the Ministry of Law and Human Rights carry out research and development of human rights. In his duties often requires a human rights event data quickly and accurately. Submission of information on human rights is too long because of too many islands in Indonesia causing become longer to handling in human rights cases. This is because the process is still manual in documenting cases of human rights with form a team to be lowered to the area. The cost to take the data be very large because the data and the information is scattered in various provinces in Indonesia. On the other hand the data and information of human rights is something that is vulnerable, then the access to such information should be restricted to certain parties only. To overcome this must build  web based system. The method used is the waterfall. Data storage using MySQL as a database server that generates 6 tables. This information systems provide access to users to perform information management  of human rights through the provision and dissemination of human rights information and do the validation and publication of information on human rights that have been granted
