The purpose of this research study was to explore the topic of organizational communication in higher education and examine staff members’ perceptions about their level of communication and job satisfaction in their workplaces. This study was also designed to test the relationship between communication satisfaction and job satisfaction by analyzing the significance of different dimensions of Communication Satisfaction with the view that satisfaction is multifaceted. A total of 463 non-faculty staff members from different units of a single higher education institution participated in this study. This study included non-teaching staff, including student workers and both full-time and part-time staff members. A modified version of Communication Satisfaction Questionnaire (CSQ) developed by Downs and Hazen was used to collect data. The study used a Likert-type scale with a 7-point scale and had eight dimensions (personal feedback, relationship to supervisors, horizontal and informal communication, organizational integration, organizational perspective, communication climate, media quality, and job satisfaction). The statistical analyses of the data from eight research questions revealed some significant relationships and differences. The results found that staff members perceived their level of satisfaction with communication satisfaction dimensions personal feedback, relationship to supervisors, horizontal and informal communication, organizational integration, and media quality from somewhat satisfied to satisfied, and communication satisfaction dimensions organizational perspective and communication climate as somewhat satisfied. The results found significant differences among different dimensions of CSQ, indicating that communication satisfaction is multi-faceted. The staff members perceived their level of job satisfaction to be among somewhat satisfied to satisfied range. The results indicated that gender and number of years in service do not seem to make a significant difference among staff members’ level of satisfaction, but level of education and job classification does. There were strong positive relations found among all dimensions of CSQ. A strong positive relationship and statistically significant correlation was found between overall communication satisfaction and job satisfaction scores, indicating that when staff members feel satisfied with communication in their workplace, they also tend to feel satisfied with their job in their workplace

In order to explore how adolescents who have been affected by traumaticexperiences would respond to an expressive arts-based intervention, amodule was designed, implemented and its effect on certain behavioraland emotional constructs was evaluated. The sample included 10 femaleadolescents between the ages of 12 and 17 who underwent a 2-month longgroup expressive arts therapy in their institutional home, namely, PrayasJuveline Aid Centre, New Delhi, India. The tools which were used toassess the changes in the pre – post intervention scores in self – reportedbehavioral and emotional difficulties were: The Youth Self Report Form(YSR Form 11-18, CBCL; ASEBA, 2001) and the ‘Severity of Post –Traumatic Stress Scale’ (NSESSS; APA, 2013). The tools used to assessthe changes in the pre – post intervention ratings of the caregiver were, the ‘DSM – 5 Parent / Guardian Rated Level 1 Cross Cutting SymptomMeasure’ (APA, 2013) and the ‘Caregiver’s Observation Checklist:Children at – risk’ (WCCL, 2013). The results revealed that 4-weekexpressive arts -based intervention elicited a statistically significantdifference in the self – reported behavioural and emotional difficultiesby the participants. The verbatim reports, diary excerpts and paintings ofthe participants were qualitatively analysed. In future, there is room toinvestigate how an intervention with a longer duration and a representativesample would explain the effectiveness of expressive – arts-based therapywith such populations

An Advanced Knowledge Based Graphical Authentication Framework with Guaranteed Confidentiality and Integrity

The information and security systems largely rely on passwords, which remain the fundamental part of any authentication process. The conventional authentication method based on alphanumerical username and password suffer from significant disadvantages. The graphical password-based authentication system has recently been introduced as an effective alternative. Although the graphical schemes effectively generate the passwords with better flexibility and enhanced security, the most common problem with this is the shoulder surfing attack. This paper proposes an effective 3D graphical password authentication system to overcome such drawbacks. The system is based on the selection of click points for generating passwords. The proposed work involved a training phase for evaluating the model in terms of the success rate. The overall evaluations of the model in terms of password entropy, password space, login success rates, and prediction probability in the shoulder surfing and guessing attacks proved that the model is more confidential and maintains a higher range of integrity than the other existing models

Purpose: This paper intends to scrutinize evolution and the growth of literature on green intellectualcapital(GIC)over the period 2008 to 2022, consequences of green intellectual capital, its sectoralclassification, current trends and future scope of research.Design/methodology: For a better understanding of this concept, a systematically arranged reviewwas performed following PRISMA framework. For this, data has been extracted from Scopus and Webof Science databases because they are the largest databases and provide international coverage. Collecteddata was confined on the basis of inclusion and exclusion criteria. The paper was sectioned into twotypes of analysis: bibliometric analysis and content analysis. Findings: Results highlighted that green intellectual capital has important meanings in influencingorganisational performance namely economic, social and financial performance. Studies were focusedmainly on Asian countries using quantitative analysis and deduced that researchers were mainly focusedon manufacturing sector. Findings depict that GIC translates into explicit results but when itscomponents’ effects are analysed, they individually show ambiguous results.Research limitations/implications: This study will provide useful insights to researchers, practitioners, managers and policy makers. Findings suggest intangible resource- green intellectual capitalshould be managed efficaciously which will provide competitive benefits and also contribute toorganisations’ financial, social and environmental performance.Originality/value: The existing literature needs to be comprehended and streamlined by interpretingthe nuances in the existing research work for enabling synergy in deciphering the explicit outcomes ofthe extant literature. Also, there are only a few studies focusing on this construct and on its systematicliterature reviewPeer Reviewe

Background: Prenatal development includes the development of the embryo and of the fetus during a viviparous animal's gestation. It starts with fertilization, in the germinal stage of embryonic development and continuous in fetal development until birth. The factors which affecting normal fetal growth and development can be due to maternal, placental or fetal. Maternal factors include maternal size, weight, height, nutritional state, anemia, smoking, substance abuse, noise exposer etc. Placental factors include size, microstructure, umbilical blood flow, transporters and binding proteins, nutrient utilization and nutrient production and Fetal factors include the fetus genome, nutrient production, and hormone output. Inappropriate growth and development lead to low birth weight, fetal death. Objectives: The aim of the study to assess the effectiveness of SIM regarding factors affecting normal fetal growth and development among eligible couples in selected rural community of Bangalore. Design: A pre experimental one group pre-test posttest design was used for the study. Subjects: The sample consists of 60 eligible couples in selected rural community of Bangalore. Methods: A nonprobability purposive sampling technique was used to select the sample for the study. Results: In the pre-test the sample had inadequate knowledge with the mean of 43.3% and standard deviation of 14.8 % where as in the post test there was significant gain in mean knowledge score of about 87.3% with the standard deviation of 10.1%. Conclusion:. In the pretest majority of the respondents had inadequate knowledge Whereas in the posttest majority of the respondents had adequate knowledge. Thus the study indicates that he SIM was effective in enhancing the knowledge regarding factors affecting normal fetal growth and development

Genetics of Durable Resistance to Leaf Rust in Bread Wheat Cultivars Capelle Desprez and Pari 73

    Get PDF
Bread wheat cultivars Capelle Desprez and Pari 73 have been showing adult plant leaf rust resistance in India since 20 years. To examine nature, number and mode of inheritance to leaf rust multipathotype tests were conducted on these cultivars along with reference line RL6058 and HD2009 and the susceptible cultivars WL711 and Agra Local at adult plant stages against the eight leaf rust races. F2 and F3 generations from crosses of Capelle Desprez and Pari 73 with susceptible cultivar WL711 were tested for percent disease severity against leaf rust race 77-5 which suggested the presence of three genes in Capelle Desprez and two genes in Pari 73 to leaf rust. Allelic tests using Capelle Desprez with RL6058 indicated the presence of linked genes Lr34/Yr18 however, presence of transgressive segregants in this cross indicated that the other two genes in Capelle Desprez are also involved in leaf rust resistance. The segregation for susceptible plants observed among all the crosses used for allelic tests of Pari 73 for leaf rust indicated that non-hypersensitive resistance genes in Pari 73 are different from those in RL6058, HD2009 and Capelle Desprez. Studies using 536 primers indicated that one of the three rust resistance gene(s) in cultivar Capelle Desprez is located on chromosome 1B, at a distance of 26.3cM from the primer Xgwm 268. Chromosome location of leaf rust resistance gene from cultivar Pari 73 could not be achieved
