The Polish Romanticism has a deep foundation mystic that takes it to the apology of the sacrifice like redemption in front of the historical reality and that it ends in the mesianism. This belief took the environment of the historical reality the consequences of the death and Christ’s resurrection, as well as of the metaphysical act of the humanity’s redemption by means of its sacrifice. In the history of Poland he repeats the same symbolic biography: the innocent victim, the martyrdom, the death and the redemption. Christ in the cross is the analogy of a Poland murdered by the allotments. Their martyrdom is the successive risings, frustated and full with victims. To this it owes himself the sacral and the cult romantic Pole to the suffering and the martydrom. The sacrifice didn’t only guarantee the redemption but it also confirmed the fact that the Polis nation is the elect to redeem to the rst of the nations
In the current scenario, the situation of our Common Home and the ecological issue are
important issues that must be addressed, since there is a growing concern about the future of
humanity, due to the constant degradation of the land. However, when talking about land
degradation, it is important to have a broad and holistic perspective on what is happening around
the human being and not to direct and condition the state of the land only to the environmental
factor. In this way, it is important to educate humanity towards an integral ecology, with a view
to fulfilling the mission that God has given to human beings to make the earth a better place,
that is, to educate man in the different dimensions that make up human life. As such, the present
work is the result of the teaching of the Teaching Unit «As Origens» of the 7th year at Colégio
Marista de Lisboa, within the scope of the Supervised Teaching Practice and is based on biblical
accounts and on the encyclical Laudato Si' presented by Pope Francis, where the importance of
the practice of an integral ecology to take care of the Common House is discussed. Thus, this
document exposes and addresses human dignity, integral ecology, and the importance of
education and Catholic Religious Moral Education, in the construction of a society based on an
integral ecology.
In short, all the research carried out and the information presented are the result of the
Supervised Teaching Practice provided by the Masters in Religious Sciences of the Portuguese
Catholic University, where the practice is inserted. As a result of the whole conjuncture and as
a way of making teaching, namely the teaching of the EMRC subject more attractive, a
pedagogical proposal called ConViva is presented
Fuel consumption reduction in tuna purse seiners using oceanographic data and genetic algorithms
Between 30% and 75% of the total operational costs of tuna vessels are fuel-related [1]. Both these costs, with their effect on fish prices and food security [2], and the impact on climate change of the greenhouse gases emitted during the vessels’ activity [3], make it necessary to find ways to increase fuel efficiency. The European Union’s Horizon 2020 SusTunTech project was born with the following goals in mind: to reduce the greenhouse gases emitted by the fishing vessels between 20% and 25%, to diminish the time they spend at sea and their fuel costs, and to increment their revenues and improve the economic and environmental sustainability of the tuna fishing industry, one of the most important in that sector. One way to reach these objectives is by providing skippers with an optimal fishing route planner which includes fuel oil consumption prediction. These routes are obtained combining different methodologies, such as machine learning, big data, artificial intelligence and –as outlined in this article– genetic algorithms, together with datasets collected from two tuna fishing vessels (by using sensors installed on them) and oceanographic data from Copernicus and EMODnet.Peer Reviewe
A Replicative In Vitro Assay for Drug Discovery against Leishmania donovani.
The protozoan parasite Leishmania donovani is the causative agent of visceral leishmaniasis, a disease potentially fatal if not treated. Current available treatments have major limitations, and new and safer drugs are urgently needed. In recent years, advances in high-throughput screening technologies have enabled the screening of millions of compounds to identify new antileishmanial agents. However, most of the compounds identified in vitro did not translate their activities when tested in in vivo models, highlighting the need to develop more predictive in vitro assays. In the present work, we describe the development of a robust replicative, high-content, in vitro intracellular L. donovani assay. Horse serum was included in the assay media to replace standard fetal bovine serum, to completely eliminate the extracellular parasites derived from the infection process. A novel phenotypic in vitro infection model has been developed, complemented with the identification of the proliferation of intracellular amastigotes measured by EdU incorporation. In vitro and in vivo results for miltefosine, amphotericin B, and the selected compound 1 have been included to validate the assay
Recent changes of relative humidity: regional connections with land and ocean processes
We analyzed changes in surface relative humidity (RH) at the global scale from 1979 to 2014 using both observations and the ERA-Interim dataset. We compared the variability and trends in RH with those of land evapotranspiration and ocean evaporation in moisture source areas across a range of selected regions worldwide. The sources of moisture for each particular region were identified by integrating different observational data and model outputs into a Lagrangian approach. The aim was to account for the possible role of changes in air temperature over land, in comparison to sea surface temperature (SST), but also the role of land evapotranspiration and the ocean evaporation on RH variability. The results demonstrate that the patterns of the observed trends in RH at the global scale cannot be linked to a particular individual physical mechanism. Our results also stress that the different hypotheses that may explain the decrease in RH under a global warming scenario could act together to explain recent RH trends. Albeit with uncertainty in establishing a direct causality between RH trends and the different empirical moisture sources, we found that the observed decrease in RH in some regions can be linked to lower water supply from land evapotranspiration. In contrast, the empirical relationships also suggest that RH trends in other target regions are mainly explained by the dynamic and thermodynamic mechanisms related to the moisture supply from the oceanic source regions. Overall, while this work gives insights into the connections between RH trends and oceanic and continental processes at the global scale, further investigation is still desired to assess the contribution of both dynamic and thermodynamic factors to the evolution of RH over continental regions.
