Human Resource Management in National Shipping

This chapter of this book shows that the mastery of some modern techniques is needed by the ship’s crew who work in a management to build a modern ship, in accordance with the theme of this project, namely modern ship engineering, design and operations. The main problem is how the management leaders of this modern ship project can apply transformational leadership style through work-life balance and employee engagement to the ship’s crew to make their work effectiveness improved. In carrying out the ship building which takes a quite long time, do the employees can be mutually engaged and can pay equal attention to the work in this project and the work at home? This study uses quantitative method with Structural Equation Modeling. This modern ship building uses some terminologies or variables of human resources such as transformational leadership style, work-life balance, and employee engagement which, based on the research done, directly and positively affect employee’s work effectiveness. The key findings of this study indicate that there is a specific model on employee engagement and crew work effectiveness that is very appropriate to be applied to modern ships related to engineering, design and operations

Handling Standard Operating Procedure Export Document Ocean Freight

PT Schenker Petrolog Utama is one of the most prominent companies in Indonesia that handle service in domestic cargo delivery. In analyzing the problems in handling Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) especially for export documents, the author uses a tree analysis consisting of problem tree, target tree, and alternative tree. The first analysis is done in the process of handling export documents. After that, analysis on the root of problem in handling export documents by using questionnaires—it successfully identifies four problems: lack of human resources, poor communication among the employees in handling export documents, computer network system which is in problem, and slow response from the customer to confirm the export documents. Subsequently, analysis on the solutions or alternative actions for those problems in handling export documents

Stone-Free Rate Differences in Kidney Stones Patients With and Without Tamsulosin After ESWL

Objective: To determine whether the administration of tamsulosin, as adjunctive medical therapy, increases the efficacy of one session of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) to treat renal stones. Material & Method: A prospective randomized placebo controlled study enrolled 21 patients. They underwent a single ESWL session to treat solitary radiopaque renal stones 4 to 20 mm in diameter. After ESWL, the study group (11) received 0,4 mg tamsulosin daily and the control group (10) received placebo until stone clearance or a maximum period of 8 weeks. The primary endpoint was stone-free rate and parameters were stone size and clearance time. Results: The overall stone-free rate was better in the study group than in the control group (90,9% vs. 60,0%). The clearance time after 2, 4, 6 and 8 weeks was greater in the study group than in the control group (36,4%; 63,6%; 72,7% and 90,9% vs 30,0%; 50,0%; and 60,0% respectively) but statistically insignificant. Conclusion: Clinically, the results of our study have demonstrated that tamsulosin therapy, as an adjunctive medical therapy after ESWL, is more effective than lithotripsy alone for the treatment of patients with renal stones

Utilization of Quizizz as a Learning Medium for Elementary Teachers in Cisauk District

Digital competence is a competency that must be possessed by teachers in the digital era. However, this skill turned out to be a big obstacle during the covid-19 pandemic. Many teachers have not been able to take advantage of technology, so in learning, there are still those who rely on WhatsApp as a learning tool. Elementary school teachers in Cisauk District who are members of PGRI (Persatuan Guru Republik Indonesia) reported that student learning outcomes during the covid-19 pandemic were no better than before and they realized that students were less motivated. The purpose of this community service activity is to improve the knowledge and ability of teachers in Cisauk District in using Quizizz. This activity was held in virtual training for 46 teachers and school principals. The methods used are discussion, demonstration, assignment, monitoring, mentoring, and evaluation. The teacher is given the task of making a Quizizz and testing it for their students in class. Teachers are also accompanied and guided in completing assignments. From the results of the training, teachers showed an increase in knowledge and skills using Quizizz. Quizizz also has a positive response from students
