Today, the International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision, Clinical Modification is more than 35 years old and there is a great need for the United States of America to implement the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision. The International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision has two parts: The International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification for diagnosis codes and The International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Procedure Coding System for inpatient procedure codes. Both classification systems incorporate greater specificity, clinical data, and information relevant to ambulatory and to managed-care encounters. With the greater specificity, it is imperative for clinical documentation specialists to work side-by-side with physicians and with clinical staff to educate them on the changes from the International Classification of Diseases, Ninth Revision to the International Classification of Disease, Tenth Revision. Clinical documentation specialists are also needed to assist in the rise in physician queries. This can cause delayed coding of medical charts and delayed patient and/or insurance billing. However, with the help from the Clinical Documentation Improvement team, physicians can receive the proper education and training needed for a smooth transition to the International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision, Clinical Modification and Procedure Coding System

The (de)politicisation of the educational problem. An ethnographic/genealogical study of school privatisation in a Chilean city

This thesis contributes to the agenda of de-neoliberalising education by developing a critique of the socio-cultural changes that the neoliberal turn has generated in Chilean society in relation to education. Framing the locus of observation at the level of a city, the research aim is to explore how school privatisation has transformed the modes in which people take part in every day and re-situated the production of the educational realm, through an analysis of how new practices and discourses gradually became the new truth at a local level. My general question regarding the effects of privatisation is who, in the city context, are allowed to problematise education, and where and how do these problematisations take place. The thesis draws upon an ethnographic/genealogical study focused on the city of Rancagua, which included twelve months of fieldwork between 2013 and 2014. The study has a double character, that is both to understand the local assemblage of discourses, practices and subjects that were shaping the school problem at this time, and to trace the historical processes that rendered this present possible, as well as intelligible. While each of the chapters concerned with ‘findings’ focus on specific subjects and urban dynamics affected by school privatisation, together they describe how education gradually ceased to be a public matter –a concern for the polis– becoming instead a de-politicised issue approached privately either as consumer or entrepreneur. On the other hand, the chapters also show that while the political dislocation of the educational question is very evident, both old and new social actors are beginning now to reclaim the right to problematise and make decisions about the daily production of education, as a social field that affects them both individually and collectively

New challenges result from the virtualization and distribution of product development activities. This article analyzes problems of cooperative engineering as well as methods and tools for the virtual engineering of extended products. Based on these analyses, a broad road map is proposed that articulates public- and civil-sector roles in coping with future engineering challenges. With a strategic horizon, the public-sector role targets the creation of a knowledge-intensive global business ecosystem conducive to balanced civil-sector innovation and sustainable growth. The civil-sector roles evolve tactics that implement proven cooperative and virtual engineering practices with a focus on value creation

The mosquito Aedes aegypti is the central vector of transmission of dengue fever and yellow fever. The majority of the world population lives in countries where the incidence of dengue fever is high, presenting a higher number of cases with death. Essential oils are complex mixtures of low molecular weight volatile organic compounds, some essential oils may still act as synergists, and may provide a reduction in the amount of oil to be applied to control a particular pest, which would reduce the costs of handling and the risks to the environment. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of the essential oil isolated from Hypenia irregularis and the synergistic proportions methodology with the combination of the essential oils of Cymbopogon citratus, Hyptis crenata and Morinda citrifolia, against 3rd instar larvae and adult mosquitoes of the vector Ae. aegypti. Larvae and mosquitoes were used to create the Integrated Pest Management Laboratory of the Federal University of Tocantins, Gurupi-TO Campus. The chemical composition of the oil was determined using the Gas Chromatography / Mass Spectrometer (GS / MS) technique. Concentrations ranging from 0.007 to 0.13 μL.mL-1 were applied for all the isolated tests, whereas for the synergism proportions were prepared using 100 μL.mL-1 of the essential oil as base. Thus, the best possible synergistic interaction with all bioassays was 1: 1 using H.irregularis x M. citrifolia. For the larvicidal test LC50 was denoted 0.037 μL.mL-1 and LC95 was 0.112 μL.mL-1 , already using synergy LC50 0.039 and LC95 0.119. In the oviposition bioassay it was observed that the higher the concentration of essential oil used (0.2 μL.mL-1), the lower the number of eggs deposited, the less than 50 eggs for H. irregularis isolated and 20 eggs with the synergism, when compared to untreated tests. Also, the action of H. irregularis oil showed better results with both the isolated essential oil and the interaction of the concentrations of the oils than N, N-diethyl-m-toluamide in 135 minutes of exposure to the females of the mosquitoes.O mosquito Aedes aegypti é o vetor central de transmissão da dengue e da febre amarela.

    Magnetic Bearings at Draper Laboratory

    Get PDF
Magnetic bearings, unlike traditional mechanical bearings, consist of a series of components mated together to form a stabilized system. The correct design of the actuator and sensor will provide a cost effective device with low power requirements. The proper choice of a control system utilizes the variables necessary to control the system in an efficient manner. The specific application will determine the optimum design of the magnetic bearing system including the touch down bearing. Draper for the past 30 years has been a leader in all these fields. This paper summarizes the results carried out at Draper in the field of magnetic bearing development. A 3-D radial magnetic bearing is detailed in this paper. Data obtained from recently completed projects using this design are included. One project was a high radial load (1000 pound) application. The second was a high speed (35,000 rpm), low loss flywheel application. The development of a low loss axial magnetic bearing is also included in this paper
