O Plano Nacional de Saúde Revisão e Extensão a 2020 constitui-se como uma plataforma que visa desenvolver e reforçar a implementação do PNS a nível nacional, regional e local. An evaluation of 2D SLAM techniques available in Robot Operating System

n this work, a study of several laser-based 2D Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) techniques available in Robot Operating System (ROS) is conducted. All the approaches have been evaluated and compared in 2D simulations and real world experiments. In order to draw conclusions on the performance of the tested techniques, the experimental results were collected under the same conditions and a generalized performance metric based on the k-nearest neighbours concept was applied. Moreover, the CPU load of each technique is examined. This work provides insight on the weaknesses and strengths of each solution. Such analysis is fundamental to decide which solution to adopt according to the properties of the intended final application

3D Multi-Robot Exploration with a Two-Level Coordination Strategy and Prioritization

This work presents a 3D multi-robot exploration framework for a team of UGVs moving on uneven terrains. The framework was designed by casting the two-level coordination strategy presented in [1] into the context of multi-robot exploration. The resulting distributed exploration technique minimizes and explicitly manages the occurrence of conflicts and interferences in the robot team. Each robot selects where to scan next by using a receding horizon next-best-view approach [2]. A sampling-based tree is directly expanded on segmented traversable regions of the terrain 3D map to generate the candidate next viewpoints. During the exploration, users can assign locations with higher priorities on-demand to steer the robot exploration toward areas of interest. The proposed framework can be also used to perform coverage tasks in the case a map of the environment is a priori provided as input. An open-source implementation is available online

Oxygen/steam charcoal gasification in a fluidized alumina bed

Mixtures of oxygen and steam were used as gasifying agents to produce a gas stream with high hydrogen content. The effects of the equivalence ratio (ER) and steam to carbon ratio (S/C) on gasification performance were studied at 900 ºC. The highest hydrogen yield (0.412 Nm3/kg charcoal) and apparent energy efficiency (33.43%) were achieved using a mixture that had a S/C ratio of 0.625 and an ER equal to 0.3 (pure oxygen). The results showed that the carbon conversion improved when the ER and the S/C ratio were augmented, and that the production of tars increased when the S/C ratio was increased. The use of γ-Al2O3 as bed material was effective in the cracking of the tars, as well as on the cracking of hydrocarbons heavier than methane. Solidão e eutanásia ou as punições por se ser velho

Os dados demográficos relativos a Portugal – análogos a muitos outros países –têm provocado a discussão sobre o envelhecimento, fenómeno entendido como uma conquista da humanidade. Se a discussão centrada no número existe e é relevante, há outros centros de interesse sobre a velhice que importa refletir profundamente. Hoje há a consciência que um dos grandes problemas da população idosa é o seu isolamento, tanto familiar como na da sociedade em geral, não permitindo a verdadeira vida de relação. Esse isolamento acontece em grau elevado nos grandes centros urbanos – isolamento pessoal – e nas aldeias do interior do nosso país – isolamento social – onde não existem jovens. Muitos velhos estão confinados às suas aldeias, assim como em meios urbanos os idosos se encontram confinados à sua casa, isolados da comunidade por barreiras físicas. Por outro lado, a discussão sobre a eutanásia está presente no quotidiano, muitas vezes sob o signo da emoção momentânea. É necessário aprofundar o tema, não perdendo de vista a superior dignidade da pessoa humana, independentemente da sua idade ou situação particular. No seguimento da argumentação aduzida, os autores colocam a hipótese de haver sub-repticiamente na sociedade contemporânea uma punição por se ser velho e/ou doente. Parece que os grandes interessados desta discussão não são as pessoas em risco, mas aquelas em torno do velho/doente, tomando a solidão e a eutanásia como punições. O individualismo sobrepõe-se a tudo e a todos.The demographic data for Portugal - analogous to many other countries - have led to a fierce debate on ageing, a phenomenon perceived as a conquest of humanity. If the discussion centred on the number exists and is relevant, there are other centres of interest about old age that should be deeply reflected upon. Today there is an awareness that one of the great problems of the elderly population is their isolation, both within the family and in society in general, not allowing for true relationship life. This isolation occurs to a high degree in large urban centres - personal isolation - and in the villages of our country's inland - social isolation - where there are no young people. Many old people are confined to their villages, just as in urban settings, they are confined to their homes, isolated from the community by physical barriers. On the other hand, the discussion about euthanasia is present in everyday life, often under the sign of momentary emotion. Further analysis is needed in this respect, not losing sight of the superior dignity of the human person, regardless of their age or situation. Following the adduced argument, the authors hypothesize that in contemporary society there is a surreptitious punishment for being old and/or sick. It seems that the main stakeholders in this discussion are not people at risk, but those around the old / sick, taking loneliness and euthanasia as punishments. Fusing sonars and LRF data to perform SLAM in reduced visibility scenarios

Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) approaches have evolved considerably in recent years. However, there are many situations which are not easily handled, such as the case of smoky, dusty, or foggy environments where commonly used range sensors for SLAM are highly disturbed by noise induced in the measurement process by particles of smoke, dust or steam. This work presents a sensor fusion method for range sensing in Simultaneous Localization and Mapping (SLAM) under reduced visibility conditions. The proposed method uses the complementary characteristics between a Laser Range Finder (LRF) and an array of sonars in order to ultimately map smoky environments. The method was validated through experiments in a smoky indoor scenario, and results showed that it is able to adequately cope with induced disturbances, thus decreasing the impact of smoke particles in the mapping task

Envelhecer com dignidade num país inventado

Muitas vezes o envelhecimento é entendido como um problema. Entendemos que não é, mas uma conquista da humanidade. A vida humana cada vez é mais longa, mas nem sempre é vivida com dignidade. O envelhecimento é um desafio colocado à sociedade, sendo necessário também estudar o envelhecimento do velho. Os autores, a partir do título de um livro de Isabel Allende, inventaram um país, a Utopia, situado à latitude da nossa imaginação e à longitude da nossa fantasia. Nesse país, cada pessoa é uma pessoa sem rótulos. Não há distinções entre ninguém, apenas pessoas humanas. Um país que se orienta pelo Ser e não pelo Ter. É uma utopia, mas utopia não tem de significar o impossível. É um país que ainda não existe, mas que um dia existirá. Este país inventado é uma exigência ética. Como conclusão, é importante realçar o sentido profundo da expressão Vida com Dignidade. Dignidade, porque é um conceito ligado ao Ser. O atual conceito de qualidade de vida está mais ligado ao Ter. Queremos ser lembrados por aquilo que somos e não somente por aquilo que temos.Ageing is often perceived as a problem. We understand that it is not, but rather an achievement of humanity. O desporto e histórias de vida. Proposta de um novo itinerário a partir de uma visão personalista

As histórias de vida são cada vez mais frequentes nas ciências do desporto. Normalmente abordam a vida passada de ídolos do desporto, sendo uma tentativa de compreender o presente através da vida passada. Porém, uma vida não é apenas formada pelo tempo passado e presente, mas também pelo futuro, pelo que os autores propõem um novo itinerário para o estabelecimento das histórias de vida. Baseados numa perspectiva personalista, os autores fundamentam um percurso de vida onde o futuro surge com um poder explicativo sobre o tempo presente, adicionando esta perspectiva às já descritivas visões diacrónica e sincrónica existentes. Concluem ainda que mais do que uma história de vida há histórias de vidas, sendo cada história uma narrativa de vários sujeitos, naquilo que denominam de intersubjectividade.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Pesquisa em empreendedorismo no principal periódico internacional: Um estudo bibliométrico das publicações no Journal Of Business Venturing entre 1987 E 2010

Este artigo visa entender o estoque de conhecimento acumulado na pesquisa em empreendedorismo. Um estudo bibliométrico dos artigos publicados entre 1987 e 2010 no Journal of Business Venturing. As análises, sobre uma amostra de 413 artigos, incide nos autores mais prolíficos, nacionalidade, frequência de citações, redes de cocitações e dos temas pesquisados no período. Observa-se que a pesquisa tem sido liderada por norte-americanos e confirma-se a multidisciplinaridade da pesquisa em empreendedorismo que em absorvido da maioria das teorias de Administração, da teoria da agência aos custos de transação, e da visão baseada nos recursos ao ambiente social em que os empreendedores e a criação de novas empresas estão imersos. No entanto, notamos que embora o campo de empreendedorismo seja vasto, a pesquisa se concentra mais em torno de temas como os recursos para o empreendedorismo, criação de valor e desempenho, ambiente externo e determinantes do empreendedorismo, o processo empreendedor, características psicológicas e individuais do empreendedor e aspetos metodológicos.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
