Tkanje takvih lokalnih glasova življenog iskustva s naizglednom monolitnošću Kolone sjećanja postaje platforma za analizu odnosa društvenih i kulturnih aspekata praksi sjećanja. This work was created as a result of ethnographic research of the Column of Memory in Vukovar in the period from 2019 to 2021. The text as a conditional joint creation of the author and the narrators does not intend to reach imaginative definiteness and finality, but to analyze, describe and interpret the complexity of the Column of Memory through the concepts of atmosphere and lived experience. Fragments of the lived experience and atmosphere of the Column of Memory are given in the key of multi-vocality, multi-local and collaborative ethnography. Fragmentarity and incompleteness thus became the link between ethnographic imaginativeness and knowledge derived from practice (cf. Marcus 2009: 28–29), and the narrators woven themselves into the imaginative space of the atmosphere of the Column of Memory. The weaving of such local voices of lived experience with the seeming monolithic nature of the Column of Memory becomes a platform for analyzing the relationship between the social and cultural aspects of the practices of memory

FROM CULTURE OF RESILIENCE AND GRATITUDE TO SOCIAL ACKNOWLEDGMENT

Danas, nakon dvadeset pet turbulentnih godina rata, poraća, gospodarske krize, neefikasne državne uprave, nedovoljnog rasta poduzetništva i raslojavanja društva, autor postavlja pitanje kako u aktualnim političkim, društvenim i gospodarskim okolnostima otvoriti temu društvenog priznanja ratnih veterana. Today, after twenty-five turbulent years of war, post-war period, economic crisis, inefficient state administration, lack of sufficient growth of entrepreneurship, stratification of society, the author asks how open the subject of social acknowledgment of war veterans in the current political, social and economic circumstances. Based on the past own practice and research, the author has tried to make a breakthrough in understanding of looking at war trauma from post-traumatic stress to posttraumatic success, posttraumatic growth and resilience as complementary pairs of one continuum in the discourse of psychotherapeutic, individual, family or group work. In this article the author tries to make a step further and revolving in his mind this issue in the context of a broader public space based on the Gergen’s social constructionist ideas, Gadamer’s understanding of conversation and narrative practice based on the heritage of Foucault’s ideas. The main issue which the author attempts to problematize is how to reach the social acknowledgment of war veterans on the foundations of the culture of resilience and gratitude. This could open the possibility of new understanding of the culture of resilience and gratitude on the broader social level

A new extended mixture normal distribution

The normal distribution is the most important model in statistics for analysis of continuous data. We propose a new distribution, called the extended mixture normal distribution, based on a linear mixture model. We obtain explicit expressions for the ordinary and incomplete moments, generating and quantile functions, mean deviations and two measures of entropy. The maximum likelihood and Bayesian methods are used to estimate the model parameters. We prove empirically that the new distribution can be a better model than the normal and other classical distributions by means of an application to real data

Solving the Problem of Friction and Wear in Auxiliary Devices of Internal Combustion Engines on the Example of Reciprocating Air Compressor for Vehicles

Using vehicles and other mobile systems to transport passengers and goods, approximately 25% of Europe\u27s greenhouse gases are generated. At the same time, many research papers, published by researchers and students, promote the use of electric vehicles as zero-emission vehicles. Given that, more broadly, the emission of electric vehicles is higher, especially in countries where electricity is obtained by burning coal, the use of internal-combustion engines is still dominant. There are other reasons for using an internal-combustion engine, such as already developed pumping station infrastructure, which is not the case when recharging electric vehicles. Improvements in engine design contribute to meet the regulations relating to the fuel consumption and toxic gas emissions. This refers to the use of alternative fuels, improving the combustion process, and increasing efficiency (efficiency coefficient) by reducing losses. The research is focused on the problem of friction and wear in internal combustion engines and reciprocating air compressors, as auxiliary devices on engines. For that purpose, construction of the reciprocating air compressor in motor vehicles was redesigned. The paper presents the characteristic test results of material used to strengthen liner of the aluminum cylinder. Specifically, a method for testing the performance characteristics of a single-cylinder reciprocating compressor inside of an experimental installation for compressed air supply has also been proposed

TRANSPORT IN HELICALLY COILED CARBON NANOTUBES: SEMICLASSICAL APPROACH

Semiconducting single wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) exhibit high electron mobility in low electric field. Tube diameter and temperature have been found to strongly affect transport properties of SWCNTs. We have investigated electron mobility of helically coiled carbon nanotubes (HCCNTs). Electron and phonon band structures of HCCNTs are used in calculation of electron-phonon matrix elements. Scattering rates are calculated using the first order perturbation theory while taking care of energy and momentum conservation law. In order to obtain electron drift velocities, steady state simulation of charge transport is performed using Monte Carlo method.Semiconducting single wall carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) exhibit high electron mobility in low electric field. Background: The problems in sexual functioning among patients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are often overlooked, although scientific research confirms high rates of sexual dysfunctions (SD) particularly among veterans with PTSD. The main objective of this study was to systematically identify predictors of SD among veterans with PTSD. Methods: Three hundred veterans with PTSD were included in the cross-sectional study. The subjects were assessed by the Mini-International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI) and self-report questionnaires: PCL-5, i.e., PTSD Checklist for Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition (DSM-5) with Criterion A, International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF), Premature Ejaculation Diagnostic Tool (PEDT), and Relationship Assessment Scale (RAS). Several hierarchical multiple regressions were performed to test for the best prediction models for outcome variables of different types of SD. Results: 65% of participants received a provisional diagnosis of SD. All tested prediction models showed a good model fit. The significant individual predictors were cluster D (Trauma-Related Negative Alterations in Cognition and Mood) symptoms (for all types of SD) and in a relationship status/relationship satisfaction (all, except for premature ejaculation (PE)). Conclusions: The most salient implication of this study is the importance of sexual health assessment in veterans with PTSD. Therapeutic interventions should be focused on D symptoms and intended to improve relationship functioning with the aim to lessen the rates of SD. Psychotropic treatment with fewer adverse sexual effects is of utmost importance if pharmacotherapy is applied. Appropriate prevention, screening, and treatment of medical conditions could improve sexual functioning in veterans with PTSD

The conception design of the bridge over the Danube by Beska near Novi Sad, presents the purchased work on the international competition. According to the conditions of the competition the new bridge should be constructed next to the present concrete bridge and its silhouette should be fully flowed. Authors suggested that the main bridge part should be the steel continuous girder ( 60+ 105+ 210+ 105+60=540.0m) which cross-section is box with orthotropic roadway construction. The access bridge parts over river inundation are consisted of more composite continuous girders. Their cross - sections are two steel boxes which are composed to concrete plate by upper flanges. The length of the right side of the access bridge part is 180.0m and the length of the left side is 1492.55m
