Study of the Integration of Disabled Students With Difficulties in Training

    Get PDF
The article reflects the experience of the support center for the disabled students at the Ural State University. The study investigates the attitudes of groups of students and teachers toward the integration of students with disabilities. The success of this academic program requires the integration of populations fromdifferent backgrounds. The main factors for the success of the program are the staff and the students. These two factors participate in creating a supportive learning atmosphere. This study observes the attitudes of faculty members (teachers) and students toward the students with disabilities. The study examines their contribution to the program, development of the social and educational climate in terms of this unique and challenging population’s ability to independently perform in an academic environment. The process of integration of students with disabilities into higher education informs the subject of integration in general, and therefore the attitudes of those taking part in the integration. The improvement of this process is the key to itssuccess. The results of the research can be used to create educational programs for teachers and to organize courses for university students. Keywords: the students with disabilities, professional education, tutor support center for disable peopl

On the features of Hurst Exponent estimates of the Fractional Brownian motion calculated by the R/S-analysis

The article presents the analysis results of the dependence of the accuracy in estimating Hurst exponent of the Fractional Brownian motion by the R/S-analysis towards the method parameters Lmin, Lmax . It is found that the estimation of the Hurst exponent coinciding with its corresponding value is used to generate Fractional Brownian Hmod motion only when L max, L. Otherwise, Hurst Exponent Estimate H depending on the value Lmax varies in the span [0.25; 1.12]. The result obtained points out that it is necessary to critically revise the results of a number of studies where in order to analyze and forecast the dynamics of complex systems of different nature (for example, in economic ones) the authors employed the R/S-evaluation exponents of the Hurst exponent H of the time series (TS), composed of the exponents characterizing the state of the given system at a certain point. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd

Thermodynamic Model of Ion-Exchange Process as Exemplified by Cerium Sorption from Multisalt Solutions

    Get PDF
A complex heterogeneous process of ion exchange can be defined with an isotherm-isobar equation of the chemical reaction, which describes differential affinity between the process and its effect – the law of mass action. Ion exchange includes processes accompanied by changes in the charge of ions and functional groups caused by the passing of ionic bond into covalent one. Hence isotherm equations of ion exchange for such processes must differ from conventional stoichiometric equations, but they can be obtained by classical study approaches to ion exchange equilibrium. The paper describes a new thermodynamic model, based on linearization of mass action law, modified for the ion exchange equation. The application of this model allows to define stoichiometry of ion exchange and the shape of ions adsorbed by the solid phase of ion-exchange resins, as well as to estimate equilibrium constant and Gibbs free energy of the process. Comparative analysis has been carried out for the thermodynamic model of cerium sorption in the form of anionic complex with Trilon B from a multisalt solution with ionic strength of 1 mol/kg (NaNO3) under рН = 3 and temperature 298 K on a test sample of weak-base anion-exchange resin Cybber EV009. Experimental isotherm of the sorption has been obtained. Calculations of thermodynamic parameters have been performed using Langmuir, Freundlich, Dubinin – Radushkevich, Temkin and Flory – Huggins models, as well as thermodynamic model of linearized mass action law, proposed by the authors. Calculated values of the equilibrium constant and Gibbs energy – K = 9.0±0.5 and ΔrG0298 = –5.54±0.27 kJ/mol – characterize the sorption of EDTA cerate ions by ion-exchange resin. The shape of adsorbed ions has been defined in Stern-Helmholtz layer of CeTr, and total capacity of anion resin EV009 for EDTA cerate ions has been estimated as q∞ = 2.0±0.1 mol/kg

Yield formation of PVY-resistant and susceptible potato breeding lines

    Get PDF
We studied the resistance to potato virus Y (PVY) in a potato hybrid population, and its effect on the yield formation under contrasting meteorological conditions. The virus resistance analysis was conducted after growing the plants under natural virus infection and after PVY inoculation. The dominant Ryadg gene allele in the potato breeding lines genotypes was revealed by detection of the PCR-based molecular marker RYSC3. Virus resistant lines were selected more often in the potato breeding program than susceptible forms due to higher productivity and larger number of tubers. PVY-resistant samples demonstrated a higher yield than susceptible forms. Significant differences (p < 0.05) were detected by univariate ANOVA in three of the four years studied. The virus resistance effect value ranged from 4 to 22%. Resistant form yield was more stable than that of susceptible one, which was evident from the corresponding coefficients of variation. Resistant samples also had a greater number of tubers per plant. At the same time, univariate ANOVA revealed significant differences (p < 0.05) only in one of the four studied years. The virus resistance effect ranged from 2 to 22%

Unadapted and adapted to starvation Acholeplasma laidlawii cells induce different responses of Oryza sativa, as determined by proteome analysis

For the first time, we studied the phytopathogenicity toward Oryza sativa L. of unadapted and adapted to unfavorable environment (starvation) cells of Acholeplasma laidlawii PG8 - ubiquitous mycoplasma found in the soil, waste waters, tissues of the highest eukaryotes and being the basic contaminant of cell cultures and a causative agent of phytomycoplasmoses. The features of morphology, ultrastructural organization and proteomes of unadapted and adapted cells of the mycoplasma and infected plants were presented. Using 2D-DIGE and MS, 43 proteins of O. sativa L. that were differentially expressed in the leaves of plants cultivated in media with A. laidlawii PG8 were identified. The qualitative and quantitative responses of the plant proteome toward adapted and unadapted mycoplasma cells differed. That may be explained by differences in the virulence of the corresponding bacterial cells. Using 2D-DIGE and MS, 82 proteins that were differentially expressed in adapted and unadapted mycoplasma cells were detected. In adapted cells of the mycoplasma, in comparison with unadapted ones, a significant increase in the expression of PNPase - a global regulator of virulence in phytopathogenic bacteria occurred; there was also decreased expression of 40 proteins including 14 involved in bacterial virulence and the expression of 31 proteins including 5 involved in virulence was not detected. We propose that differences in the phytopathogenicity of adapted and unadapted A. laidlawii PG8 cells may be related to features of their proteomes and membrane vesicles. © 2011 Elsevier B.V
