    Infrastructure for instance roads, mines and hydroelectric dams, are spreading rapidly. Infrastructure arrangements are the essential of the countries’ economy and welfare; infrastructure creates vital services that concern on people’s living, and each sector that regards to the community. The problem of low infrastructure usage reduced the probability of poor perception towards infrastructure. Why are some social groups reporting low perceptions compared to other social groups? This study aims to provide an explanation of the relationship between perception toward infrastructure and problem of infrastructure usage. Quantitative approach has been used for data collection and analysis on 321 samples. Through correlation analysis, result shows a very weak negative association between perception toward infrastructure and problem of infrastructure usage.     Kemudahan infrastruktur merupakan salah satu prasyarat penting untuk pembangunan ekonomi khususnya bagi mengurangkan masalah kemiskinan dan jurang ekonomi diantara penduduk. Walau bagaimanapun, kajian dan perbincangan berkenaan pembangunan infrastruktur masih lagi mempunyai pelbagai kekurangan khususnya berkenaan dengan pembolehubah yang perlu dikaji seperti ukuran fizikal dan pertumbuhan serta masalah kepegunan data.Justeru kajian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan pertalian di antara persepsi terhadap kemudahan infrastruktur dan masalah penggunaan kemudahan infrastruktur. Objektif kedua ialah untuk menentukan pertalian antara persepsi terhadap kemudahan infrastruktur dengan taraf pendidikan, pekerjaan dan pendapatan.Kajian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan penjelasan tentang persepsi terhadap kemudahan infrastruktur dan masalah penggunaan kemudahan infrastruktur. Pendekatan kuantitatif telah digunakan untuk pengutipan dan penganalisaan data.Tinjauan melalui borang kaji selidik telah dijalankan di kawasan Pendang dan Kubang Pasu, Kedah. Nilai Alfa Cronbach menunjukkan bahawa aras kebolehpercayaan adalah 0.69 bagi pembolehubah persepsi terhadap kemudahan infrastruktur dan 0.65 bagi pembolehubah masalah penggunaan kemudahan infrastruktur. Analisis korelasi dan regresi dijalankan ke atas data yang melibatkan 321 orang responden yang memberikan jawapan kepada kedua-dua pembolehubah tersebut melalui kaedah persampelan berstrata. Keputusan kajian menunjukkan bahawa persepsi responden terhadap kemudahan infrastruktur mempunyai pertalian secara negatif dengan masalah penggunaan kemudahan infrastruktur. Analisis regresi menunjukkan bahawa masalah penggunaan kemudahan infrastruktur boleh meramalkan persepsi terhadap kemudahan infrastruktur. Secara ringkasnya, terdapat perhubungan antara persepsi dengan masalah penggunaan kemudahan infrastruktur

    Rumah merupakan asset yang penting bagi setiap manusia. Rumah sama ada kos rendah, sederhana atau tinggi sentiasa mendapat permintaan dikalangan rakyat pada masa kini. Namum begitu, permintaan dan penawaran bagi perumahan kos rendah didapati semakin meningkat dari masa ke semasa disebabkan faktor ekonomi dan peningkatan kos sara hidup kini. Disebabkan permintaan yang tinggi terutamanya dikalangan rakyat yang berpendapatan rendah atau golongan B40 maka kerajaan telah melaksanakan inisiatif dengan melancarkan Program Perumahan Kos Rendah iaitu Program Perumahan Rakyat (PPR) untuk membantu golongan ini untuk memiliki rumah. Sebanyak RM724 juta diperuntukkan bagi pembiayaan Program Perumahan Kos Rendah (PPKR) dalam Rancangan Malaysia Ke-Tujuh (RMK7). Jumlah peruntukkan meningkat kepada RM4,5932.2 juta dalam Rancangan Malaysia Kelapan (RMK8) dan sebanyak RM 2,256.5 juta dalam Rancangan Malaysia Kesembilan (RMK9). Walaupun begitu, pembangunan perumahan kos rendah PPR ini telah wujud beberapa isu dan persepsi penghuni berkenaan aspek fizikal perumahan PPR dan kemudahan yang disediakan kurang memuaskan. Justeru itu, kertas kerja ini akan mengupas tentang permasalahan yang membelenggu rakyat yang berkaitan dengan perumahan kos rendah ini dengan memberi fokus di Taman PPR Naga Sari Jitra, Kedah

    Perkembangan sektor perumahan semasa didapati telah merekodkan kenaikan harga rumah di pasaran yang menyebabkan sebahagian golongan tertentu dalam masyarakat Malaysia tidak mampu membelinya terutama sekali bagi golongan belia yang baru sahaja memasuki alam pekerjaan dan menerima pendapatan yang rendah. Harga rumah meningkat pada kadar yang jauh melebihi pertumbuhan dalam pendapatan sebenar rakyat di negara ini. Sehubungan itu, kertas kerja ini telah memberi fokus kepada trend pemilikan perumahan rumah mampu milik dalam kalangan belia di Daerah Kota Setar, Kedah. Objektif utama kajian ini adalah untuk mengenalpasti kemampuan golongan belia dalam memiliki rumah sendiri. Hasil penemuan kajian mendapati faktor harga rumah sangat mempengaruhi kemampuan golongan belia untuk memiliki rumah sendiri dan penyediaan rumah mampu milik yang masih tidak mencukupi telah menyebabkan golongan belia masa kini sukar untuk membeli dan memiliki rumah sendiri

    Smart antenna technologies are emerging as an innovative way to meet the growing demand for more powerful, cost-effective and highly efficient wireless communication systems. In this project, from broad category of smart antenna techniques, the switch beam digital-beamforming technique in the downlink is deployed to improve the fidelity and performance of WiMax application. In this regards, the designed system forms and steer the beam according to the user location which is known to the system. In addition, the system performs sidelobe cancellation base on the chebyshev algorithm to optimize the antenna radiation pattern. The design and implementation steps are as follow: the system is firstly modeled by MATLAB software. After modeling, the algorithm is implemented in DSP by using C and Code Composer Studio. After DSP hardware implementation, the signal management is performed in DSP before transmission to the FPGA board. This management is necessary, in order to make processed signal in DSP suitable for channel separation process in FPGA. FPGA is deployed to split the data stream into sixteen channels corresponding to number of antenna elements. Next, the FPGA and DSP are integrated together to form the baseband switch beam smart antenna system. After integration process, the hardware is tested; the results prove that the system functions properly as we expected from simulation model. In this project, lastly, the initial design of IF, RF-front-end and their necessary circuits are also portrayed to be used in the next smart antenna research project

    Beta2-adrenoceptor signaling regulates invadopodia formation to enhance tumor cell invasion

    Introduction For efficient metastatic dissemination, tumor cells form invadopodia to degrade and move through three-dimensional extracellular matrix. However, little is known about the conditions that favor invadopodia formation. Here, we investigated the effect of β-adrenoceptor signaling - which allows cells to respond to stress neurotransmitters - on the formation of invadopodia and examined the effect on tumor cell invasion. Methods To characterize the molecular and cellular mechanisms of β-adrenergic signaling on the invasive properties of breast cancer cells, we used functional cellular assays to quantify invadopodia formation and to evaluate cell invasion in two-dimensional and three-dimensional environments. The functional significance of β-adrenergic regulation of invadopodia was investigated in an orthotopic mouse model of spontaneous breast cancer metastasis. Results β-adrenoceptor activation increased the frequency of invadopodia-positive tumor cells and the number of invadopodia per cell. The effects were selectively mediated by the β2-adrenoceptor subtype, which signaled through the canonical Src pathway to regulate invadopodia formation. Increased invadopodia occurred at the expense of focal adhesion formation, resulting in a switch to increased tumor cell invasion through three-dimensional extracellular matrix. β2-adrenoceptor signaling increased invasion of tumor cells from explanted primary tumors through surrounding extracellular matrix, suggesting a possible mechanism for the observed increased spontaneous tumor cell dissemination in vivo. Selective antagonism of β2-adrenoceptors blocked invadopodia formation, suggesting a pharmacological strategy to prevent tumor cell dissemination. Conclusion These findings provide insight into conditions that control tumor cell invasion by identifying signaling through β2-adrenoceptors as a regulator of invadopodia formation. These findings suggest novel pharmacological strategies for intervention, by using β-blockers to target β2-adrenoceptors to limit tumor cell dissemination and metastasis
