    Adaptive Streaming in Mobile Network

    Mobile ecommerce is immersed rapid familiar to other high-flying Internet markets. With the fast developing of wireless connections and Internet, electronic commerce more and more moves to mobile environment. Streaming, as a rapid growing application in Internet, will be more used in mobile ecommerce. In this paper, we’ll review the network protocol used in mobile ecommerce and streaming technology. An optimized architecture is given based on MPEG-4 and Mobile Ipv6. The core streaming protocol used in this architecture is RTSP/RTP proposed by IETF. This system gives one possible implementation of streaming over wireless network. Two key bottlenecks we found in this project are wireless bandwidth and mobile client power. To avoid the two problems, self-adaptive methodology is used. Let streaming application be adaptive to the wireless network environment to improve streaming performance

    Molecular epidemiology of chicken anemia virus in commercial farms in China

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Chicken anemia virus (CAV) is the causative agent of chicken infectious anemia (CIA). A high prevalence of CAV has been reported in China. However, VP1 sequences of Chinese isolates show no clear genotype clustering or correlation with geographic origin. Therefore, the present study aimed to detect and characterize CAV isolates from China based on sequence and phylogenetic analysis of the VP1, VP2 and VP3 genes.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Of 460 spleen samples tested by PCR, 47 (10.22%) were found to be positive for CAV. A total of 25 CAV, approximately full genomes, from different commercial farms were characterized. Phylogenetic analysis of the Chinese CAV sequences together with strains from different countries resulted in four distinct groups (A-D) with significant high bootstrap values. The Chinese viral sequences were located as four different clusters within groups A and D. All the Chinese CAV genomes characterized in this study had glutamine (Q) at amino acid position 394, which indicated that all are highly pathogenic. Mutations associated with attenuation and weaker reactivity with monoclonal antibody 2A9 were absent in the Chinese sequences.</p> <p>Conclusions</p> <p>We revealed that CAV prevalence was lower than that reported previously in commercial farms in China. We also showed four distinct sequence groups (A-D), and genetic variability in local CAV sequences that could be divided into four groups based on phylogenetic analysis.</p

    Quality attributes of paddy rice during storage as affected by accumulated temperature

    In actual storage processes of rice, environment temperatures fluctuate rather than remain constant. Accumulated temperature is the sum of temperature during the storage period. In this research, six different temperature-varied conditions with two accumulated temperatures (low intensity: 7200°C⸱d; high intensity: 9000°C⸱d) were designed to store rice for 12 months and the stored rice samples were compared in quality. Three low-accumulated temperature conditions were set as follows: No. 4–15°C for 6 months followed by 25°C; No. 5–25°C for 6 months followed by 15°C; No. 8-alternating between 15°C and 25°C every 2 months. Similarly, three high-intensity conditions, No. 6, No. 7, and No. 9, were set with a temperature change from 25°C to 35°C. Three constant temperature conditions, No. 1, No. 2, and No. 3, with storage temperature of 15, 25, and 35°C, respectively, were used as controls. Under temperature-varied conditions, rice demonstrated a decline in germination rate (GR), catalase (CAT) and peroxidase (POD) activities, and an increase in fatty acid value (FAV) as storage time increased. After storage, rice exhibited higher water absorption rate (WAR) and volume expansion rate (VER), but reduced stickiness and sensory scores for appearance, taste and overall quality. Generally, three batches at high-accumulated temperature conditions had lower GR and sensory scores, and higher FAV, WAR, and VER compared to those under low-intensity conditions. Furthermore, variations in the sequence of temperature also affected quality parameters, even at the same accumulated temperature. These findings indicate that under temperature-varied conditions, increased accumulated temperature exacerbates rice deterioration, and different temperature sequences can influence quality at a given accumulated temperature

    Impact of primary and secondary air supply intensity in stove on emissions of size-segregated particulate matter and carbonaceous aerosols from apple tree wood burning

    In order to assess emission factors (EF) more accurately from household biomass burning, a series of laboratory controlled apple tree wood burning tests were conducted to measure the EFs of size-segregated particulate matter (PM) and carbonaceous aerosols. The controlled burning experiments were conducted with designed primary air (PA) and secondary air (SA) supply intensity. An optimum value of 7 m(3).h(-1) was found for SA, resulting the highest modified combustion efficiency (92.4 +/- 2.5%) as well as the lowest EFs of PM2.5 (0.13 +/- 0.01 g.MJ(-1)), OC (0.04 +/- 0.03 g.MJ(-1)) and EC (0.03 +/- 0.01 g.MJ(-1)). SA values of 7 and 10 m(3).h(-1) resulted the lowest EFs for all the different PM sizes. In a test with PA of 6 m(3.)h(-1) and SA of 7 m(3).h(-1), very low EFs were observed for 0C1 (8.2%), 0C2 (11.2%) and especially OP (Pyrolyzed OC) (0%, not detected), indicating nearly complete combustion under this air supply condition. Besides SA, higher PA was proved to have positive effects on PM and carbonaceous fraction emission reduction. For example, with a fixed SA of 1.5 m(3).h(-1), EFs of PM2.5 decreased from 0.64 to 0.27 g.MJ(-1) when PA increased from 6 to 15 m(3).h(-1) (P &lt; 0.05).     Chasing ghosts : allopolyploid origin of Oxyria sinensis (Polygonaceae) from its only diploid congener and an unknown ancestor

Under such circumstances the extinct donor of a genome found in the polyploid may be treated as a ‘ghost’ species in that its prior existence is recognised through the presence of its genome in the polyploid. In this study, we aimed to determine the polyploid origin of Oxyria sinensis (2n=40) for which only one congeneric species is known, i.e. diploid O. digyna (2n=14). Genomic in situ hybridization (GISH), transcriptome, phylogenetic and demographic analyses, and ecological niche modeling were conducted for this purpose. GISH revealed that O. sinensis comprised 14 chromosomes from O. digyna and 26 chromosomes from an unknown ancestor. Transcriptome analysis indicated that following divergence from O. digyna, involving genome duplication around 12 million years ago (Ma), a second genome duplication occurred approximately 6 Ma to give rise to O. sinensis. Oxyria sinensis was shown to contain homologous gene sequences divergent from those present in O. digyna in addition to a set that clustered with those in O. digyna. Coalescent simulations indicated that O. sinensis expanded its distribution approximately 6-7 Ma, possibly following the second polyploidization event, whereas O. digyna expanded its range much later. It was also indicated that the distributions of both species contracted and re-expanded during the Pleistocene climatic oscillations. Ecological niche modeling similarly suggested that both species experienced changes in their distributional ranges in response to Quaternary climatic changes. The extinction of the unknown ‘ghost’ tetraploid species implicated in the origin of O. sinensis could have resulted from superior adaptation of O. sinensis to repeated climatic changes in the region where it now occurs.PostprintPeer reviewe
