This thesis focuses on the early phase of pre-research information about product development process for yard and gardening products segment. The purpose of the thesis was to develop an accessibility checklist for assessing home environment of healthily ageing people. The checklist will be part of accessibility assessment computer program designed by Esteetön Asunto Oy (EAS oy). The checklist focuses on the minimum changes that needs to be done in elderly home so that the living is easy and safe. The checklist was made by studying theory about ageing. The theory was about changes that happen in human body when ageing. These ageing changes affects on how the elderly is able to survive in ADL functions safely and without problems. In addition, also other accessibility assessment programs have been studied as much it was possible. Context of the checklist has been formed according to that theory which is presented in this Thesis-report. The idea for the thesis came straight from the Esteetön Asunto Oy. The purpose was to design a checklist which could be used when assessing elderly homes so, that the ageing person could live in own home for longer. The checklist needed to have only the most important questions in it. The questions should have reliable theory behind them. By this the information got from the accessibility assessment would be true and can be used in practice. The checklist has not yet been use in practice on the time of completing Thesis and it has not been changed in the form of the assessment program. All of the information concerning the list itself and its content is a commercial secret. Because of this the list is not published as a part of the thesis-report

Beekeeping Expertise as Situated Knowing in Precarious Multispecies Livelihoods

In this article I analyse beekeeping expertise as situated knowing in the precarious conditions of multispecies livelihoods. Beekeeping is knowledge-intensive: distinct expertise is required to keep colonies alive and thriving, to produce honey, and to support pollination – that is, to maintain livelihoods. The conditions in which beekeeping expertise is developed and enacted are precarious due to close entanglements with ultimately unintelligible non-human others and their changing habitats. Using ethnographic and interview data collected among urban beekeepers in Finland, I first describe the precariousness embedded in beekeeping as sharing lifeworlds and becoming with non-human others, particularly in an epoch characterized by severe environmental disturbances. Second, I analyse learning and practising beekeeping as the development and enactment of beekeeping expertise as situated ways of knowing. From beekeeping courses, books, and social relationships, beekeepers learn not only the necessary skills but also ways of knowing that value diversity and variability. By practising and observing in the hive yard, they further learn to be affected by bees and their multispecies habitats, attuning their practices and perceptions in accordance with them. Beekeeping expertise therefore entails ways of knowing that are local, relational, practical, and open to changes and even surprises, recognising the incompleteness of knowledge as well as the unprecedented agency of non-human others. Such situated knowing enables beekeepers to acknowledge and act upon the complex interdependencies of multispecies livelihoods in changing socio-ecological conditions

Use of evolution of deep neural network for text summarization

    Get PDF
In the era of internet, the ability to quickly extract useful information out of big amounts of data has become an important capability. This includes text summarization, a Natural Language Processing task of compressing a given text into a shorter one in such a way that it is consistent with the original text, concise, correct and as informative as possible. The leading solutions of this problem use various Deep Neural Networks. Designing an optimal DNN's architecture is a difficult task requiring a lot of expertise, time and work. In this work I attempt to facilitate this process using coevolution of neural networks. I use Pytorch-dnnevo framework to find networks capable of solving NLP tasks, including text summarization using coevolution. I implement architectures based on RNN, LSTM and Seq2seq with attention mechanism. Metrics like ROUGE-N, BLEU and F1 as well as datasets like IMDb Movie Reviews and Amazon Fine Food Reviews are used. The results show that, given suitable layer types, coevolution is capable of constructing networks that can solve NLP tasks. It can help engineers find the optimal architecture and hyperparameters for a given dataset

The challenges for patients and sonographers when complex obstetric anomalies are identified

    Get PDF
The prenatal identification of complex obstetric anomalies can present issues for expectant parents, sonographers and departments of obstetric ultrasound. The limitations of imaging technologies, ongoing fetal development and various interpretations of anomalies and prognosis create ambiguity. Complexity is further heightened by a lack of policies and training related to the communication of unexpected findings and support for sonographers who work with expectant parents during or after times of significant distress and trauma. This case report details challenges presented upon a third-trimester diagnosis of a complex obstetric anomaly agenesis of the corpus callosum and offers recommendations to reduce the negative psychosocial consequences of complex obstetric anomaly diagnosis

This study proves to be important when understanding the individual effects caused by a green human resource management system

Intensification of methanol steam reforming process using Cu-modified Ni-based supported catalysts

Hydrogen is conventionally manufactured in large scale by the steam reforming of methane or naphthas. The perspective of using hydrogen as a fuel depends of finding alternatives to the existing production technologies and feedstock. Oxygenated compounds are an interesting alternative and are been investigated extensively. The process of steam reforming of mixtures of oxygenated hydrocarbons does not contribute to a net increase in atmospheric CO2, as oxygenated obtained from renewable resources are considered to be CO2 neutral. In previous works has been demonstrate that Steam Reforming of oxygenated compounds is a complex reactions network where in a previous step, decomposition reaction take place followed by the reforming of decomposition products. Its known that DME (or methanol) receives particular attention due to its properties similar to those of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)and it can be used as a clean high-efficiency compression ignition fuel. In other way, it has been demonstrate that DME-SR to produce H2 occurs through two main reactions in series, DME-Hydrolysis and MeOH-Steam Reforming. Therefore, bifunctional catalysts are necessary, with and acid funcion active in DME-HYD and a redox for reforming step. On the other hand, methanol is also regarded as an important feedstock for hydrogen production due to its high energy density and superior transportability, especially for small-scaled and portable fuel cell applications. In comparison with CH4-SR, the reaction temperature of methanol steam reforming is much lower and the gas off contains typically 60%-70% H2. In this contribution the Steam Reforming of MeOH has been studied using a Ni-based supported catalysts modified with copper and an optimized formulation was considered to incorporate in a microreformer, as an intensification of process to direct hydrogen supply on board.Universidad de Málaga.
