    A meta-modeling approach for capturing recurrent uses of Moodle tools into pedagogical activities

    International audienceTeacher's expertise on using Learning Management Systems (LMS) is tightly coupled to how they design their online courses. The GraphiT project aims to help teachers in specifying of pedagogically sound learning scenarios that can be technically executable for automatically setting-up the related LMS course. We intend to provide teachers with LMS-specific instructional design languages and editors. To achieve this goal, we have to raise the LMS semantics in order to enrich the pedagogical expressiveness of the produced models. We propose a specific LMS-centered approach for abstracting the low-level parameteriza-tions and turning these semantics into higher-level pedagogical building blocks. We present and illustrate our propositions focused on Moodle. In this paper, we focus on the first abstraction level: identifying pedagogical activities according to recurrent uses of Moodle activities

    Dalitz plot analysis of D0 --> K0S pi+ pi- decays in a factorization approach

    A quasi two-body QCD factorization is used to study the D0 --> K0S pi+ pi decays. The presently available high-statistics Dalitz plot data of this process measured by the Belle and BABAR Collaborations are analyzed together with the tau- --> K0S pi- nu_tau decay data. The total experimental branching fraction is also included in the fits which show a very good overall agreement with the experimental Dalitz plot density distributions. The branching fractions of the dominant channels compare well with those of the isobar Belle or BABAR models.     The Ground Scalar Nonet and D Decays

    A short review on light scalar mesons is performed both in experiment and theory. A naive model, constrained by D branching ratios, is derived in order to make predictions on the wave functions of the f0(600)f_0(600) and a0(980)a_0(980) mesons.     Determining the unsaturated hydraulic conductivity of a compacted sand-bentonite mixture under constant volume and free-swell conditions

    Highly compacted sand-bentonite mixtures are often considered as possible engineered barriers in deep high-level radioactive waste disposals. In-situ, the saturation of these barriers from their initially unsaturated state is a complex hydro-mechanical coupled process in which temperature effects also play a role. The key parameter of this process is the unsaturated hydraulic conductivity of the barrier. In this paper, isothermal infiltration experiments were conducted to determine the unsaturated hydraulic conductivity according to the instantaneous profile method. To do so, total suction changes were monitored at different locations along the soil specimen by using resistivity relative humidity probes. Three constant volume infiltration tests were conducted showing, unexpectedly, a decrease of the hydraulic conductivity during infiltration. One test performed under free-swell conditions showed the opposite and standard trend. These observations were interpreted in terms of microstructure changes during wetting, both under constant volume and free swell conditions

    Investigating self-similarity and heavy tailed distributions on a large scale experimental facility

    After seminal work by Taqqu et al. relating self-similarity to heavy tail distributions, a number of research articles verified that aggregated Internet traffic time series show self-similarity and that Internet attributes, like WEB file sizes and flow lengths, were heavy tailed. However, the validation of the theoretical prediction relating self-similarity and heavy tails remains unsatisfactorily addressed, being investigated either using numerical or network simulations, or from uncontrolled web traffic data. Notably, this prediction has never been conclusively verified on real networks using controlled and stationary scenarii, prescribing specific heavy-tail distributions, and estimating confidence intervals. In the present work, we use the potential and facilities offered by the large-scale, deeply reconfigurable and fully controllable experimental Grid5000 instrument, to investigate the prediction observability on real networks. To this end we organize a large number of controlled traffic circulation sessions on a nation-wide real network involving two hundred independent hosts. We use a FPGA-based measurement system, to collect the corresponding traffic at packet level. We then estimate both the self-similarity exponent of the aggregated time series and the heavy-tail index of flow size distributions, independently. Comparison of these two estimated parameters, enables us to discuss the practical applicability conditions of the theoretical prediction

    T regulatory cells disrupt the CCL20-CCR6 axis driving Th17 homing to the gut

    Background: During HIV-1 infection, the integrity of the intestinal immune barrier is disrupted due to a deep depletion of CD4 + T cells in the gut. The translocation of microbial products from the gut lumen into the bloodstream has been linked with systemic inflammation. Despite long-term effective cART, CD4 + T cells in the lamina propria are incompletely restored in most individuals. Aims: Among the chemotactic axes involved in CD4 + T cell homing to the gut, we focused on the CCR6-CCL20 axis as it governs Th17 cells homing, a T cell subset exerting a major role in antimicrobial immunity. We aimed to assess the factors regulating the expression of CCL20 by the enterocytes, and notably the role of the cytokines produced by Treg and Th17 cells. Methods: Small bowel biopsies were obtained by endoscopy in 20 HIV-1 + and 10 HIV-1-individuals. Intestinal lymphocytes phenotype was analyzed by flow cytometry. CCL20 mRNA was quantified by qRT-PCR. The effect of PRR ligands and cytokines on CCL20 expression was explored using an ex-vivosystem of human primary enterocytes. A coculture was done between the enterocytes and Th17/Treg cells.
