Compositional abstraction and safety synthesis using overlapping symbolic models
In this paper, we develop a compositional approach to abstraction and safety
synthesis for a general class of discrete time nonlinear systems. Our approach
makes it possible to define a symbolic abstraction by composing a set of
symbolic subsystems that are overlapping in the sense that they can share some
common state variables. We develop compositional safety synthesis techniques
using such overlapping symbolic subsystems. Comparisons, in terms of
conservativeness and of computational complexity, between abstractions and
controllers obtained from different system decompositions are provided.
Numerical experiments show that the proposed approach for symbolic control
synthesis enables a significant complexity reduction with respect to the
centralized approach, while reducing the conservatism with respect to
compositional approaches using non-overlapping subsystems
Dolomitization Processes in Hydrocarbon Reservoirs: Insight from Geothermometry Using Clumped Isotopes
Clumped isotopes geothermometry was applied to two dolomitic hydrocarbon reservoirs. Results indicate that late burial dolomitization occurred at ~110°C in the Albian Pinda dolostone (offshore Angola) and ~90°C in the Mano-Meillon dolostone (Aquitaine Basin, France), and did not continue on during subsequent burial/thermal evolution to present-day conditions (150-160°C). This study illustrates the great potential of the clumped isotopes approach to help unravel dolomitization processes in hydrocarbon reservoirs
This article aims to show that the Vichian project of writing a “new science” is a particularly original encyclopaedic project. One of the reasons for this originality emerges from the consideration of up to what point is the Vichian encyclopaedia built up around a kind of double criticism: the one of the Cartesian mathesis universalis and the one that will later be raised against Diderot’s EncyclopĂ©die, which Vico elaborates from the dictionaries and compilations of his time. Opposing Cartesian reductionism, and anticipating the criticism of the encyclopaedias, Vico finds his own way, which allows him to preserve the efficacy of the mathesis universalis while extending it to the whole of human “doing”. The key of this encyclopaedic perspective is the manifestation of the poetic activity of humanity and the establishment of the genetic conditions of possibility for the development of human knowledge

The multi-stakeholder type of cooperative was introduced in Quebec in 1997 under the name of solidarity co-operative (SC). In some way, it marked a departure from the single-member co-op tradition. This new membership form gave rise to unprecedented challenges on the governance side, because of the need to find a compromise between the interests of diverse members. The spread of the SCs in new fields of activity such as proximity services also marked a change. Nevertheless, the SCs followed the same pattern as single-member co-ops by responding to needs that were not met by the market or the state. The growing “market share” of solidarity co-ops, which now represent more than 50 % of all new co-operatives, points to new research as a means to better understand their impact.
