Cu-Au type orderings in the staggered quadrupolar region of the fcc Blume Emery Griffiths model

The spin-1 Ising (BEG) model has been simulated using a cellular automaton (CA) algorithm improved from the Creutz cellular automaton (CCA) for a face-centered cubic (fcc) lattice. The ground state diagram ($k$, $d$) of the fcc BEG model has ferromagnetic ($F$), quadrupolar ($Q$) and staggered quadrupolar ($SQ$) ordering regions. The simulations have been made in the staggered quadrupolar region for the parameter values in the intervals $-24\leq d=D/J<0$ and $-3\leq k=K/J\leq 0$ . The phase diagrams on the ($kT_{C}/J$, $d$) and the ($kT_{C}/J$, $k$) planes have been obtained through $k=-3$ and $d=-4$ lines, respectively. The staggered quadrupolar ordering region separates into five ordering regions ($A_{3}B(a)$, $A_{3}B(f)$, $AB$ (type-I), $AB$(type-II) and $AB_{3}(f)$) which have the different stoichiometric Cu-Au type structures.Comment: 24 pages, 11 figure

A partir das crônicas, dos textos teatrais e jornalísticos de Nelson Rodrigues, este artigo trata das relações entre o futebol no Brasil e as representações literárias da nação. Pretendo mostrar o modo como esse autor construiu representações literárias e apropriou-se de imagens identitárias da nação para interpretar como o futebol revelava, mais do que escondia, a precariedade, o fracasso de nos representarmos como uma “nação moderna”, o que está em constante diálogo intertextual em sua produção dos anos 1950

PROGETTAZIONE E VALUTAZIONE DI UN SOTTOSISTEMA DI MEMORIA PRINCIPALE AD ALTE PRESTAZIONI BASATO SU 3D-DRAM E PCM : MODELLAZIONE, STRESS-TESTING ED ANALISI DELLE PERFORMANCE E DEL CONSUMO ENERGETICO

Negli ultimi anni la progettazione e i processi produttivi dei compo- nenti di memoria hanno subito un forte rallentamento, molto accen- tuato per quanto riguarda quei componenti utilizzati nei sottosistemi di memoria principale, come le memorie DRAM. Un grande divario prestazionale si è venuto a creare tra le unità di elaborazione, che hanno subito un vertiginoso speed-up negli ultimi 10 anni, e i supporti di memoria che ormai a fatica riescono a fronteggiare le richieste del mercato, fortemente incentrato sul cloud-computing e su grandi siste- mi di elaborazione distribuiti che hanno bisogno di grandi quantità di memoria. L’intento di questo lavoro è quello di progettare e sperimentare al- cune architetture di memoria alternative a quella classica per cercare di trovare una valida soluzione al problema sopra evidenziato, con- centrando l’attenzione sugli aspetti prestazionali e sul consumo ener- getico, pur avendo come obiettivo principale quello di mantenere la scalabilità dell’architettura punto focale del nostro studio. A tal fine sono state esplorate nuove promettenti tecnologie, quali i dispositivi 3D-DRAM e PCM (Phase Change Memory), inserite in un costesto architetturale del tutto rinnovato. Al fine di rendere lo studio delle architetture il più concreto possibi- le sono stati realizzati modelli dettagliati delle memorie sopra citate, andando ad analizzare i trade-off tra le velocità delle operazioni di memoria e il consumo energetico a queste legate. La valutazione finale delle architetture è stata effettuata inserendo queste in un contesto reale simulato e sono stati effettuati stress-test utilizzando note suite di benchmark quali SPEC CPU2006 e OLTP, entrambe rivolte allo studio di sistemi ad alte prestazioni e sistemi HPC (High Performance Computers) che, come abbiamo detto, richiedo- no una notevole quantità di memoria, prestazioni elevate e consumi contenuti. Lo studio ha portato ad evindenziare un incremento di prestazioni fino al 40% e consumi pressochè paragonabili se confrontati con le odierne architetture di memoria principale

The essay presented refers to a teaching experiment as a research in Public Archeology within the Archaeological Heritage Inventory Project of Guarulhos developed from 2012 to 2014. Public Archeology is a branch from Archeology that, even though practiced in different ways, targets at the interlocution&nbsp;between the academic field and the public concerning archaeological interpretation data in a cross-culture dimension. Thus, by the “cross-culturing’’ amongst Public Archeology, thematic oral history, and recollection, we have attempted to show recollections and the memories of the people of Guarulhos relate to the archaeological traces in terms of conception and reception of the cultural heritage from such territory of the city.O artigo em questão trata de uma experiência de ensino como pesquisa em Arqueologia Pública dentro do Projeto de Inventário do Patrimônio Arqueológico de Guarulhos desenvolvido entre 2012 e 2014. A Arqueologia Pública é um ramo da Arqueologia que, embora praticada de diferentes modos, visa à interlocução entre a academia e o público acerca dos dados da interpretação arqueológica em uma dimensão intercultural. Use of the iliac-outlet and iliac-inlet combined views in percutaneous posterior column retrograde screw fixation

Posterior column fractures are common acetabular injuries. Although displaced fractures require open reduction and fixation, undisplaced patterns may benefit from percutaneous screw fixation. The combination of iliac oblique with inlet and outlet views offers an intuitive and panoramic rendering of the bony corridor into the posterior column; lateral cross table view completes the sequence of fluoroscopic projections. Herein we describe the use of outlet/inlet iliac views and a detailed procedure for percutaneous retrograde posterior column screw fixation

Ultrafast optical properties of stoichiometric and non-stoichiometric refractory metal nitrides TiNx, ZrNx, and HfNx

Refractory metal nitrides have recently gained attention in various fields of modern photonics due to their cheap and robust production technology, silicon-technology compatibility, high thermal and mechanical resistance, and competitive optical characteristics in comparison to typical plasmonic materials like gold and silver. In this work, we demonstrate that by varying the stoichiometry of sputtered nitride films, both static and ultrafast optical responses of refractory metal nitrides can efficiently be controlled. We further prove that the spectral changes in ultrafast transient response are directly related to the position of the epsilon-near-zero region. At the same time, the analysis of the temporal dynamics allows us to identify three time components - the "fast" femtosecond one, the "moderate" picosecond one, and the "slow" at the nanosecond time scale. We also find out that the non-stoichiometry does not significantly decrease the recovery time of the reflectance value. Our results show the strong electron-phonon coupling and reveal the importance of both the electron and lattice temperature-induced changes in the permittivity near the ENZ region and the thermal origin of the long tail in the transient optical response of refractory nitrides

Seismic evidence of gas hydrates and their quantification as a potential economic resource in the Argentine sea, Malvinas basin

El presente trabajo describe tanto la detección de hidratos de gas en sísmica de exploración del offshore argentino de la cuenca de Malvinas, como el estimativo del potencial económico que representan. Para ello se emplea un flujo de trabajo que consiste en tres etapas bien diferenciadas y con objetivos específicos: detección de la presencia de hidratos de gas en datos de sísmica de prospección, validación y análisis de horizontes interpretados y, por último, estimación del volumen de gas recuperable. De este modo se obtienen evidencias de importantes reservas de hidratos de gas de metano, lo que implica una experiencia relevante en la búsqueda de energías alternativas en la Argentina.We present a workflow for gas hydrate detection and quantification that has been applied on seismic data of the Argentinean offshore of Malvinas Basin. The workflow consists in three main stages: gas hydrate detection, validation and characterization of the gas hydrate and finally, volume estimation.
