Application of design thinking to implement innovation policy in teaching table tennis for students – the case of Vietnam National University, Hanoi

    Get PDF
Design-Thinking is very innovative process and could be applied as innovative teaching. The current situation of teaching table tenis at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, one of the leading universities in Vietnam shows that the traditional teaching method (passive learning) of table tenis is not approriate. Therefore, Design-Thinking (process of Empathize - Define - Ideate - Prototype - Test) is very necessary for teaching table tennis for students at Vietnam National University, Hanoi, which helps students to get better results from real-world experiences on their own learning and through projects and help them to understand the importance of fitness. The papers will firstly review what is Design-Thinking, its advantages in teaching table tenis, then analyse the current situation of teaching table tenis in Vietnam National University, Hanoi and show the results of design-thinking application for teaching table tenis for students of Vietnam National University, Hanoi to recommend some solutions for better application of this method in future

DIFFICULTIES IN WRITING ESSAYS OF ENGLISH MAJORED SOPHOMORES AT TAY DO UNIVERSITY, VIETNAM

Writing skill is an important part of communication, which helps people express ideas, experiences, and feeling exactly. Good writing skill allows them to communicate their message with clarity and ease to a far larger audience than through face-to-face or telephone conversations. However, students often face some difficulties when writing. This survey research presents the process of the study of “Difficulties in writing essays of English majored sophomores at Tay Do University”. It was conducted to find out some difficulties in learning writing of 53 sophomores from 12A and 12B classes at Tay Do University. The questionnaire, interview questions, and essay samples were instruments of this research. The results showed that sophomores had many difficulties in writing essays such as vocabulary, grammar structures, idea arrangement, background knowledge, and others. Basing on the research results, students could recognize their difficulties and find ways to overcome them. Article visualizations

FACTORS RELATED TO THE AWARENESS AND BEHAVIOR OF MARIJUANA USE AMONG UNIVERSITY STUDENTS IN CAPITAL HANOI, VIETNAM

    Get PDF
Abstract The increasing use of addictive substances, especially marijuana, among university students has increased the burden of disease and social issues. However, the specific data about the prevalence and factors relating to marijuana use among university students is still limited. This study aims to provide the initial research literature about factors affecting the awareness and behavior of marijuana use among university students in Hanoi. The study employed two primary methods: a survey questionnaire and an in-depth interview with a sample of 324 diverse university students. According to research findings, students are generally uncertain about the effects of marijuana and take a neutral stance on its social acceptability. The overall prevalence of marijuana use among university students in Hanoi is 7.4%, of which the rate of use in males is 9.4% and in females is 4.1%. Marijuana use is also influenced by peers' behavior, and parents' false perception of their children's drug prevention capability and marijuana's accessibility may also play a factor

Invited review. Bond dissociation enthalpies in benzene derivatives and effect of substituents: an overview of density functional theory (B3LYP) based computational approach

    Get PDF
In this review, we have mainly focused on the recent computational studies on the bond dissociation enthalpies (BDE) of the X‒H bonds of the para and meta substituted benzene derivatives (3Y-C6H4X‒H and 4Y-C6H4X‒H with X = O, S, Se, NH, PH, CH2, SiH2 and Y = H, F, Cl, CH3, OCH3, NH2, CF3, CN, NO2). In addition, the remote substituent effects on the BDE(X‒H), the radical stability and parent one have also been discussed in terms of the calculated ground state effect, radical effect and total effect. Model chemistry of ROB3LYP/6-311++G(d,p)//B3LYP/6-311G(d,p) can reproduce the BDE values with the accuracy of 1.0‒2.0 kcal/mol. The good linear correlations between Hammett constants and BDE values were discovered for both para and meta substitutions in phenols, thiophenols, benzeneselenols, anilines and phenylposphines with the R-squared lager than 0.94. In contrast, it does not occur in case of toluenes and phenylsilanes.Keywords. Application of Regional Ocean Modeling System for hydrodynamics in Binh Cang-Nha Trang Bay, Vietnam

    Get PDF
Based on the data collected at the Cau Da station, the Regional Ocean Modeling System (ROMS) is applied for hydrodynamics (e.g. circulation and temperature-salinity) in Binh Cang - Nha Trang Bay, Vietnam. The results present the several cases of hydrodynamic regimes in the Bay during two mainly monsoon seasons (northeast and southwest monsoons). The clearly hydrodynamic regime occurs in the bay due to the impacts of rivers and monsoon conditions. These changes could be contributed to the hydrodynamic systems and water exchanges, that support basic scientific information for sustainable development of Binh Cang - Nha Trang bay

Reproductive Biology of Splendid Ponyfish Leiognathus Splendens (Cuvier, 1829) in Myeik Coastal Waters, Myanmar

    Get PDF
Reproductive biology of Leiognathus splendens was studied by using the samples collected from the catches of trawl fisheries in Myeik coastal waters during January to December 2014. Spawning takes place throughout the year, with a peak during April-May and September-December. The observed length at first maturity was 9.0 cm total length in males and 8.4 cm in females. The mean gonadosomatic index was more prominently in females (2.5) than males (1.5). Sex ratio (1 male: 1.1 females) also indicates the general dominant of females over males  Fecundity varied from 6120 to 58412 eggs. Relationship of fecundity to fish length, fish weight and ovary weight showed that fecundity is more related to the gonad weight (r=0.9) than length (r=0.8) and weight of fish (r=0.7

The Effect of ENSO on Hydrological Structure and Environment in the South Central Coast – Vietnam

    Get PDF
ENSO (El Niño-Southern Oscillation) phenomena have impacted on the hydrodynamic regime and environmental factors of the tropical ocean in general. In case of Vietnamese South-Central Waters, impacts of ENSO only focused on issues of changing seasonal wind, seawater temperature anomalies, changing of water masses as the air-sea interaction. Based on several data sets collecting in the period of 2003-2017, new finding of seawater temperature, salinity and environmental factors was identified in the water masses of Vietnamese South-Central Waters. The highest salinity was 35.4 ‰. During the El Nino event, increasing water temperature and salinity caused to move the deeper water masses to be closer to the sea surface than that initial depth in the neutral period. During the La Nina event, the temperature of most water masses reduced by 0.1-3°C, and then these water masses could be affected to the deeper layer. During the phase from strong ENSO event towards the neutral time, nutrient salts of the 4 water masses were lower concentration in the neutral year, causing the lack of phosphorus in sea surface water masses

The role of technological innovation and cleaner energy towards the environment in ASEAN countries: proposing a policy for sustainable development goals

    Get PDF
The association between economic growth (EG) and environmental degradation (ED) has been highlighted extensively in prior studies. However, investigation regarding ‘technological innovation and clean energy role’ in dealing with environmental concerns has comprised limited context while considering the ASEAN economies under sustainable development goals. Therefore, the study attempts to investigate the phenomenon by using CS-ARDL analysis under short as well as long run. The findings through CSARDL in long- and short-run indicate that REN have impact carbon emission and ecological footprints negatively. Additionally, the EG in targeted economies is causing a higher level of CE and ecological footprints. Whereas, GDP2ofund to be significant in lowering the ED in the form of CE and ecological footprints. It is suggested that policies related to CE through EG should be developed in order to control the environmental issues in the future
