    Space Vector Modulation for Induction Motor on ARM-based Microcontroller

    This article presents the review and the implementation of Space Vector Modulation (SVM) in a low-cost microcontroller-based motor drive system. The output three-phase voltages are obtained from a reference voltage vector in the polar coordinate system using the PWM technique; these voltages can reach up to the level of the DC voltage source (experimentally 16 VDC or practically 237 V with an inverter module). The article also provides a detailed presentation of the pre-calculations and the computations required for SVM on a STM32F1 ARM-based microcontroller. For achieving high frequency precision, a novel method for vector rotation based on the fixed-point arithmetic is proposed and tested. The experimental results highlight that the presented implementation including vector rotation can reach 1 Hz without significant error and it requires only 0.684 MIPS at 5 kHz computation rate for a 72 MIPS 32-bit microcontroller with single-cycle multiplication. The maximum instantaneous output phase-to-phase voltages could be as high as the DC voltage source

    Saprochaete Capitata Infection in an 80–Year Old Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Patient: A Case Report

    BACKGROUND: The fungal disease caused by invasive fungus Saprochaete capitata is becoming an increasingly popular infection. Fungal pathogens mainly occur in patients with immunocompromised disorders such as hematologic malignancies, acute myeloid leukemia, transplant patients. CASE REPORT: In this study, we presented a COPD patient infected with S. capitata. At the first check, the patient showed cough, dyspnea, chest pain on both sides. The clinical laboratory test result was characterized with high White blood cell (12.8 G/L), HIV negative. The X ray showed bronchitis and emphysema. Bronchoscopy illustrated bronchial mucositis. CT scanner demonstrated pneumonia with fuzzy nodular lesions and thick interstitial organization in both lungs. The patient was treated with ciprofloxacin 800 mg/day; cefuroxime 2250 mmg/day. However, the fever appeared 2 weeks thereafter. The S. capitata was discovered in the bronchial fluid. The patient was then treated with fluconazole 400 mg/day for 14 days. At the end of treatment, all signs and symptoms of S. capitata infection disappeared and the patient recovered. CONCLUSION: This case study showed that S. capitata infection can occur in the COPD patients and fluconazole is a pertinent drug for treatment of the infection

    Growth, survival and food utilization efficiency of longfin batfish (<em>Platax teira</em> Forsskål, 1775) larvae reared under different salinity levels

    Salinity is crucial in fish larval rearing. In longfin batfish (Platax teira), little research has been conducted regarding the specific effects of salinity on growth, survival, deformity, and food utilization efficiency. This study aimed to determine the optimal salinity level for larval rearing of the longfin batfish by testing five different salinity levels (10, 15, 20, 25, and 30‰). Larvae of 1.5 cm in length and 0.2 g/fish in weight were stocked in cylindrical fiberglass tanks (300 L) at a density of 1 fish/L. The fish were fed to meet their dietary requirement and divided into four daily feedings. Each treatment was replicated three times over a 28-day period of rearing. The results revealed that salinity significantly influenced the growth (length, weight, biomass), and food utilization efficiency of the longfin batfish larvae. Overall, larvae reared at salinity levels of 15-20‰ exhibited superior performance compared to those exposed to salinity levels of 10, 25, and 30‰. However, salinity did not affect the coefficient of variation, survival, and deformity. From these findings, it is recommended to rear longfin batfish larvae at a salinity of 15-20‰ to achieve optimal growth and food utilization efficiency. This study provides valuable insights for longfin batfish larval rearing guidance, contributing to the aquaculture development of this economically valuable species

    Thermal stability of a nanocrystalline HfNbTiZr multi-principal element alloy processed by high-pressure torsion

    The microstructural stability of a nanocrystalline HfNbTiZr multi-principal element alloy was studied by annealing the material in a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC). The as-received sample was obtained by severe plastic deformation using the high-pressure torsion (HPT) technique. Samples were annealed to the characteristic temperatures of the DSC thermogram, namely up to 740, 890 and 1000 K, and the microstructure of the heat treated specimens was analyzed. It was found that the heating up to 740 K yielded a decomposition of the initial body-centered cubic (bcc) phase into two bcc phases with a lower and a higher lattice constant. During annealing up to 890 K, a Zr/Hf-rich hexagonal-close packed (hcp) phase started to nucleate. Heating the sample up to 1000 K resulted in the formation of a nanocrystalline Zr/Hf-rich bcc phase beside the Zr/Hf-rich hcp and the Nb-rich bcc phases. Beside the phase transformation a recovery of the severely deformed defect structure and a grain coarsening were also observed which was accompanied by a reduction of the hardness above 740 K
