    Learning achievement and knowledge transfer: the impact factor of e-learning system at Bach Khoa University, Vietnam

    E-learning is the application of innovative ICT platforms and Internet in education to make it easier, spacious, and more efficient. Advantages of e-learning are recognized, but its impact on learning achievement and knowledge transferring are not confirmed clearly. Learning is considered the skills of students and knowledge gained through experience in the training process. Learning achievement has been defined as students' knowledge, skills and study habits in a training course and effectiveness of their application to their work. Based on previous research, this study suggested that learning achievement as a dependent variable affected by the capacity factors, such as: computer self efficacy, ease of use, perceived usefulness, face to face interaction, e-mail interaction, and social presence. Besides, knowledge transfer is also affected by learning achievement. The study result showed that 3 factors: easiness & usefulness, e-mail interaction, and social presence have positive impacts on learning & transferring knowledge through the e-learning system of Bach Khoa University (BKU). Based on analysis results, some managerial implications are suggested for improving the effectiveness of e-learning system at BKU

    Impact factors of knowledge sharing intention of it employees in Vietnam – An integrated approach

    In the knowledge era, knowledge sharing has been becoming an essential issue to knowledge-based organizations, such as IT businesses. However, knowledge sharing among workers in IT organizations is not efficient in reality. Especially, in a developing country like Vietnam, there is a lack of research in this topic. Therefore, this research tries to identify and to measure the impact of those factors on the knowledge sharing intention of employees in the IT industry. Unlike previous studies, this research integrated factors of Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and other factors of the organization environment and ICT to explore their impacts on knowledge sharing intention. Using Convenience sampling method, 257 valid samplings were collected from organizations in IT industry in HCMC. The scale was tested by Cronbach’s Alpha, EFA analysis methods. Based on regression analysis, the factor affecting knowledge sharing intention of employees was sorted by descending order, including: affiliation and innovativeness in an organization, attitude towards knowledge and subjective norms, perceived behavioral control. Besides, the knowledge sharing intention of employees is also indirectly affected by factors: anticipated reciprocal relationship and fairness in organization and support of ICT. The results of the ANOVA analysis show that there is a marked difference in knowledge sharing intention between managers and employees. Based on these results, some suggestions for facilitating knowledge sharing between employees in IT industry are proposed

    The impact of knowledge management on innovation performance of small and medium enterprises – An empirical study in Lam Dong province

    In the context of today’s globalization, Vietnamese enterprises, especially small and medium ones (SMEs), have to face with many challenges and have to innovate for survival and development. The global integration process also means that local enterprises have to compete with foreign enterprises with advanced knowledge and modern management skills. Therefore, in order to ensure sustainable development, local enterprises should be ready with knowledge management (KM) practices in order to achieve high efficiency and strong competitive advantages. This research is to explore the impact factors on the innovation performance of SMEs in Lam Dong province. Based on the previous model of Berraies et al. (2014), some factors of KM processes impacting on the innovation performance of Vietnamese SMEs are explored and evaluated. Measurement scales are inherited selectively to suit the context of this research. The analysis results of this study showed that the innovation performance of SMEs was affected by the knowledge creation process. This result pointed out the knowledge creation process was affected by some KM enabling factors, such as trust, collaboration, learning, reward, decentralization, formalization, IT support and T-shaped skills. From this result, some recommendations for improving the innovation performance of Vietnamese SMEs by KM approach are also suggested

    Behavior or culture? Investigating the use of cryptocurrencies for electronic commerce across the USA and China

    Purpose – This paper claims to identify the behavioral and cultural features that push to use, or not, cryptocurrencies for electronic commerce. Indeed, despite the use of cryptocurrencies for electronic commerce spreading worldwide at a fast and growing pace, there are supporters and detractors among their users. The analysis of what distinguish these two groups of users is fundamental for understanding their different intention to use cryptocurrencies for electronic commerce. Design/methodology/approach – A survey has been administered to 2,532 cryptocurrencies’ users across the USA and China, collecting data on their behavioral predispositions and cultural features. Results were then analyzed through structured equation modeling. Findings – Results showed that while attitude, subjective norms, perceived behavioral control and herding behavior have a positive impact on the intention to use cryptocurrencies for electronic commerce, financial literacy has no influence. Cultural dimensions amplified or reduced the discovered relationships and caused different effects: positive for the USA and negative for China when considering illegal attitude and perceived risk. Originality/value – Theory of planned behavior, financial behavior and cultural factors can, all together, represent a useful framework for envisioning the behavior of users in adopting cryptocurrencies for electronic commerce purposes through a test of all its elements. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first study considering behavior and cultural variables on the intention to use cryptocurrencies for electronic commerce as well as being the largest carried out, in terms of sample, on the cryptocurrency topic.publishedVersio

    Optimization Parameters of Milling Process of Mould Material for Decreasing Machining Power and Surface Roughness Criteria

    Improving milling performances is an effective solution to decrease the costs required. This paper addressed a multi-response optimization to simultaneously decrease the machining power consumed Pm, arithmetical roughness Ra, and ten-spot roughness Rz. The Grey-Response Surface Method-Multi Island Genetic Algorithm (GRMA) consisting of grey relational analysis (GRA), response surface method (RSM), and multi-island genetic algorithm (MA) was proposed to predict the optimal parameters and yield optimum milling performances. The experimental trials were conducted with the support of a CNC milling center. The influences of spindle speed (S), depth of cut (ap), feed rate (fz), and tip radius (r) were explored using GRA. The nonlinear relationship between machining parameters and grey grade (GG) model was developed using RSM. Finally, two optimization techniques, including desirability approach (DA) and MA were performed to observe the optimal values. The results indicated that the machining power was greatly affected by processing factors and the radius has a significant impact on the roughness criteria. The measured reductions using optimal parameters of Pm, Ra, and Rz are approximately 77.05%, 50.00%, and 58.02%, respectively, as compared to initial settings. The GRMA can be considered as an effective approach to generate reliable values of processing conditions and technological performances in the milling process

    HYDROGEN-PLASMA-TREATED NANO TIO2 FOR PHOTOCATALYTIC OXIDATION OF VOCS IN AIR STREAM

    Unlike water treatment processes, the photocatalytic oxidation of VOCs in air stream exhibits many challenges. This study will develop the hydrogen-plasma-treated TiO2 with improvement in photocatalytic activity. The hydrogen-plasma-treatment was carried out in the non-thermal atmospheric pressure reactor at room temperature or above. The catalysts were prepared and analyzed by advanced techniques such as X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electro-microscopy (SEM) and transmission electro-microscopy (TEM). The photocatalytic activity of the catalyst has been investigated under UV light with various reaction conditions such as different initial toluene/formaldehyde concentrations and water content. Significantly, the conversion of toluene by a plasma-treated sample was 1.5 times higher than the bare TiO2 in a similar reaction condition

    BoMb-OT: On Batch of Mini-batches Optimal Transport

    Mini-batch optimal transport (m-OT) has been successfully used in practical applications that involve probability measures with intractable density, or probability measures with a very high number of supports. The m-OT solves several sparser optimal transport problems and then returns the average of their costs and transportation plans. Despite its scalability advantage, the m-OT does not consider the relationship between mini-batches which leads to undesirable estimation. Moreover, the m-OT does not approximate a proper metric between probability measures since the identity property is not satisfied. To address these problems, we propose a novel mini-batching scheme for optimal transport, named Batch of Mini-batches Optimal Transport (BoMb-OT), that finds the optimal coupling between mini-batches and it can be seen as an approximation to a well-defined distance on the space of probability measures. Furthermore, we show that the m-OT is a limit of the entropic regularized version of the BoMb-OT when the regularized parameter goes to infinity. Finally, we carry out extensive experiments to show that the BoMb-OT can estimate a better transportation plan between two original measures than the m-OT. It leads to a favorable performance of the BoMb-OT in the matching and color transfer tasks. Furthermore, we observe that the BoMb-OT also provides a better objective loss than the m-OT for doing approximate Bayesian computation, estimating parameters of interest in parametric generative models, and learning non-parametric generative models with gradient flow.Comment: 36 pages, 20 figure

    Vehicle routing is a class of combinatorial optimization problems in transportation and logistics. Min-max capacitated vehicle routing is a problem of this class in which the length of the longest route must be minimized. This paper investigates local search approach for solving the min-max capacitated vehicle routing problem with different neighborhood structures. We also propose a combined function instead of the objective function itself for controlling the local search. Experimental results on different datasets show the efficiency of our proposed algorithms compared to previous techniques

    A cell-based smoothed discrete shear gap method (CS-DSG3) using three-node triangular elements was recently proposed to improve the performance of the discrete shear gap method (DSG3) for static and free vibration analyses of isotropic Reissner-Mindlin plates and shells. In this paper, the CS-DSG3 is further extended for static and free vibration analyses of laminated composite shells. In the present method, the first-order shear deformation theory (FSDT) is used in the formulation due to the simplicity and computational efficiency. The accuracy and reliability of the proposed method are verified by comparing its numerical solutions with those of others available numerical results

    Green synthesis and crystal structure of 3-(benzo-thia-zol-2-yl)thio-phene.

    The title compound, C11H7NS2, was prepared in high yield (87%) using a solvent-free microwave-assisted synthesis. The structure shows whole-mol-ecule disorder with occupancies for two orientations (A and B) of 0.4884 (10) and 0.5116 (10), respectively. The thio-phene and benzo-thia-zole rings are almost planar and make dihedral angles of 10.02 (18) and 12.54 (19)° for orientations A and B, respectively. Slipped π-π stacking between the aromatic rings, together with C-H⋯π, C-H⋯S and C-H⋯N inter-actions, result in a herringbone motif in the crystal packing
