THE VIBRATIONAL AND ELECTRONIC ABSORPTION SPECTRA OF SILVER-LITHIUM, SILVER-SODIUM, COPPER-LITHIUM, AND COPPER-SODIUM FROM SINGLE MOLECULES TO SMALL PARTICLES.
Vibrational and electronic absorption spectra of metal alloy molecules and small particles have been measured. The matrix isolation technique was used to produce the samples. Dissimilar metals were combined to provide far infrared vibrational activity. Through the study of the electronic and vibrational excitation spectra, metallic interatomic binding potential characteristics could be investigated. The absorption spectra of the molecular systems were modelled using the extended Hueckel method, for the electronic excitations, and a dynamical matrix-normal mode technique for the vibrational excitations. Surface plasmon absorption, from the metal alloy particles, could not be measured but surface phonon absorption was measured. Electronic and vibrational absorption lines in alloyed metal molecules were measured and compared to the calculations. A surface diffusion model was developed to explain the dependences of molecule and particle size on the experimentally controlled system parameters
Nicholas of Lyra\u27s use of St. Thomas Aquinas\u27 Expositio super Iob ad litteram in his Postilla on Job
Nicholas of Lyra himself acknowledged his consideration of St. Thomas Aquinas\u27 commentary on Job . Scholars in the generations that immediately followed Lyra also noted this relationship. Today scholars still recognize that there is a strong connection. No scholar has yet to explore this relationship at great depth, documenting the nature and content of this connection. This dissertation addresses this deficit, testing and documenting the relationship in detail, using a close analysis of key chapters of Lyra\u27s and Aquinas\u27 commentaries on Job . The analysis has yielded a list of themes that emerge in both commentaries. Lyra adopted some from his predecessor; others were unique to Lyra and reflect his own insights as he read the text. The analysis has also yielded a list of techniques that Lyra used as he worked with the material presented by Aquinas. He did not ever incorporate any part of Aquinas\u27 commentary verbatim. Of greatest significance, the analysis yielded significant evidence of Lyra\u27s independence as a scholar. Aquinas was a key source of information and ideas for Lyra, but Lyra developed his own understanding of the book of Job as he read and studied the text. Aquinas\u27 commentary on Job is a tool that Lyra often used, but it was not definitive for his effort

Can You Go the Distance: Collagenase Clostridium histolyticum Manipulation at 1 Month after Injection.
Collagenase Clostridium histolyticum is a popular treatment in Dupuytren contracture. Current guidelines are for manipulation 24 hours to 7 days after injection. We present a case of successful manipulation 28 days after injection

A Navajo Patient with Morbihan’s Disease: Insight into Oculoplastic Treatment of a Rare Disease
Morbihan's disease is classically defined as primarily a Caucasian disease of chronic, recurrent erythema and nonpitting edema of the middle and upper thirds of the face. The disease is often difficult to diagnose and challenging to treat. Medical management is the primary treatment modality; however, if there is progression of the disease that causes visual impairment, surgical debulking is often required. We present the first reported case of Morbihan's disease in a Navajo patient in conjunction with a review of the literature on surgical management of this challenging disease.Open access journalThis item from the UA Faculty Publications collection is made available by the University of Arizona with support from the University of Arizona Libraries.
