The Value Chain as the Basis of Business Model Design

    Get PDF
The article presents a new approach to the generation of business models based on value streams. The originality of the study lies in the assumption that in every business model the generator of added value is the value chain which, if original enough, will maximize potential while minimizing costs. This approach will provide the respective enterprise with a high level competitiveness in the long term. The tested group of enterprises consisted of 354 SMEs, one hundred eighty-seven of which were from the manufacturing and industry sector, with 167 from the services sector. The novelty of this approach also consists of the integrated approach to the business environment in which the value streams were analyzed. The results suggest that the analysis of value streams is suitable for the projection of business models. In addition, the methods of dimensional reduction and logit regression have been identified as appropriate analytical tools, with representative results found valid and utilizable in business practice. The authors of the article are aware that this is only the first step in addressing this issue, one which will play a critical role in the gradual process of the upcoming digital transformation of all business models, not only those of SMEs in the Czech Republic

E-commerce has been undergoing intensive development every year to match the development of information and communication technologies. E-commerce has a significant, yet diverse, impact on the analysis of selected e-commerce segments during the COVID-19 pandemic between 2021 and 2022. Metadata evaluated our results using the tools of Google Analytics, Google AdSense, and Supermetrics tool. The research involved structured interviews to refine and improve the results obtained. We also analysed the turnover and year-on-year changes of selected e-shops in beauty products, food, fashion accessories, and luxury goods, exploring the development trends related to the pandemic and the ongoing war conflict. A part of the solution was also the analysis of the tested segments in terms of the NUTS 3 regions and the specification of the development of the business segment under review from the perspective of the geographical regional location. The obtained data will provide experts and the business sector with information about the development of e-commerce during times of crisis. They also apply to existing and potential business entities regarding their position in an increasingly challenging market environment. The first approximation of the results will be refined and validated in further research

The paper discusses the evaluation of the financial stability of an enterprise, depending on the business potential of a municipality. The aim of the research is to prove a relation of the prediction models and their ability to predict the financial ability of an enterprise depending on sample clusters of the business potential in a municipality. In the first part of the research, the municipalities are clustered using the cluster analysis and the municipalities are classified into four clusters - economic, social, infrastructural, and environmental. Subsequently, financial data on business entities located in the area are used and the prediction models are calculated using the Czech indices of the Neumaiers. The results are further graphically evaluated in terms of size and sectors of the enterprise. The ANOVA method is verified to assess the independence of the creditworthiness models on sample clusters. Regarding the method and the analytical tool, it is possible to state their suitable choice; the outputs are relevant, valid, and usable in practice. The influence of the creditworthiness on the environmental cluster in the area is proved

Socio-economic transformation in many post-communist states has influenced the dynamic process in such states with the differentiation trends. Such process often causes disparities in different regions, creates relations and ties, often contradictory, and spatial socio-economic polarization in the regions. The above-mentioned processes and their impacts are demonstrated on the example of the South Bohemian region, in particular the LAG territory. Using the methods of correlation analysis, the author demonstrates the conditionality of the indicators in the area of interest. Different links and relations of socio-economic, infrastructural and natural factors to the emergence of disparities in different LAGs are analyzed. The most important factors of the emerging disparities within the region and the LAGs include the relations between the progressiveness of the economic structure and population density and between the demographic structure of the region and the infrastructure, as revealed by the analysis
