Towards an Interdisciplinary and Scientific Approach in Design Education : Petr Tučný and his Applied Aesthetics

Petr Tučný (1920-2012) was a Czechoslovak architect, an associate professor of design at several renowned universities and a respected designer. In 1950, Petr Tučný became the head of the Laboratory of Experimental and Applied Aesthetics at the University of Economics in Prague. His premise that “aesthetical experience is not only emotional enjoyment but a rather complex process” led him to pursue the interdisciplinary approach to tool-handle design based on medical research. Tučný’s scientific viewpoint was parallel yet independent from the famous School of Arts in Zlín (Czechoslovakia) led by the sculptor and pioneer designer Vincenc Makovský and later by the internationally acclaimed Czechoslovak designer Zdeněk Kovář. When comparing Tučný and Kovář’s teaching methods in detail we can witness two different approaches in perceiving the designing strategy. While Kovář’s rather intuitive way of designing was based on organic aesthetics and kept a distance from the rational and technical perception of design and scientific progress, Tučný, on the contrary, evolved a strict interdisciplinary and scientific approach. The paper will illustrate two different viewpoints on the ergonomic of hand-tools. Comparison of properties of Compact yarns

katedra: KTT; rozsah: 53s. (8 333 znaků)The aim of this Bachelor thesis is finding the most suitable supplier for VEBA textilní závody a.s. This company has provided samples of compact yarns from various suppliers from different provenances. The following properties were compared: hairiness, strenght, unevenness, elongation and yarn defects. In adition economic costs of those yarns were evaluated. The theoretical part deals with compact spinning and characteristic properties and advantages of final yarns. The experimental part contains measurement results of all properties, yarn price appreciation and points assessment of all criteria. In the end all information and values necessary for point method Scoring, through which the most suitable suppliers were selected, are summarized.Cílem bakalářské práce je nalézt nejvhodnější dodavatele pro firmu VEBA textilní závody a.s. Firma poskytla pro porovnání kompaktní příze od různých dodavatelů z odlišných proveniencí. Porovnávané byly tyto vlastnosti: chlupatost, pevnost, nestejnoměrnost, tažnost a vady přízí. Dále je provedeno zhodnocení přízí dle ekonomických nákladů. Teoretická část se zabývá problematikou kompaktního předení a charakteristickými vlastnostmi a výhodami výsledných přízí. Experimentální část obsahuje zpracované výsledky měření u všech vlastností, cenové zhodnocení přízí a také bodové ohodnocení všech kritérií. Life cycle costs of construction project

Diplomová práce se zabývá náklady životního cyklu výstavbového projektu. V teoretické části je definován životní cyklus stavby, projekty spojené s výstavbou a jednotlivé druhy nákladů stavby. V praktické části je podrobněji popsána výstavba 18 bytových jednotek v obci Zbýšov v průběhu celého životního cyklu stavby. Jsou zde vymezeny nákladové položky při vývoji stavby od jejího počátku až po předpokládanou fázi ukončení. Na závěr jsou náklady podrobněji rozebrány, analyzovány a přirovnány k obdobnému modelovému projektu.This thesis deals with the life-cycle cost of construction project. In the theoretical part the life cycle of buildings associated with the construction projects and each construction costs. The practical part is described the construction of 18 housing units in the village Zbýšov during the whole life cycle of the building. There are cost items defined in the development of the building from its beginning to its expected closure phase. In conclusion, the costs are discussed in more detail, analyzed and compared to a likewise a model project.

Ve své bakalářské práci zpracovávám návrh podnikatelského plánu malého podniku. Pro tento záměr řešení jsem si vybrala klempířskou firmu. Řešená firma podniká jako fyzická osoba a vede daňovou evidenci. Návrh podnikatelského plánu se budu snažit zasadit do rámce dnešního ekonomického a politického prostředí a najít tak odpověď na otázku, zda je výhodné převést podnikání formou živnosti na podnikání formou právnické osoby – na společnost s ručením omezeným, tedy z fyzické osoby na osobu právnickou, či nikoliv.In my bachelor thesis I provide draft business plan for a small business. For the purpose of this work I chose a plumbing company. This company operates on a basis of an individual ownership and keeps tax records. In the suggested business plan, I will try to take into consideration today's economic environment and find the answer to whether it is beneficial to transfer from the current form of individual ownership business to the company with limited liability, ie an individual ownership to a legal entity, or not.

Harry Potter: Sociální Kritika Cílem této práce je předložit analýzu řady fantasy románů Harry Potter od autorky J.K. Rowlingové jako díla sociální kritiky. Výrazný rozdíl mezi dvěma diametrálně odlišnými fiktivními světy, kouzelnickým světem, v němž je řídícím principem magie, a jeho mudlovským protějšekem (termín označující ne-kouzelnický status) definovaný především nepřítomností magie, umožňuje Rowlingové ukázat a prozkoumat rozličné sociální otázky: rasové předsudky, sociální stratifikace, korupce, sociální zabezpečení dítěte, morální otázky, zneužívání moci, občanské konflikty, národní podjatost, otroctví, terorismus a genderová problematika. Tyto dvě souběžně existující kultury, jsou v jejích románech reflektovány v jazyce, tradicích a hodnotách. Komplexnost jejího díla dovoluje Rowlingové se postupně přesunout od jednodušších ke složitějším sociálním problémům. Zpočátku se autorka soustředí na záležitosti týkající se hlavního hrdiny příběhu, Harryho Pottera, a později se zabývá kouzelnickým a mudlovským světem jako celkem. Jinými slovy, to, co začíná jako dětský příběh, se záhy změní v kritiku sociálních nespravedlností, a s tím, jak postavy dospívají, v tzv. bildungsroman (vývojový román), díky čemuž lze rozvíjet, kromě základního motivu souboje dobra a zla, i další náměty. Pozornost bude věnována...Harry Potter: A Social Critique The aim of this thesis is to offer an analysis of J.K. Rowling's fantasy novels, the Harry Potter series, as a work of social criticism. The striking contrast between the two diametrically opposed fictional worlds, the wizarding world in which the governing principle is magic and its muggle (a term denoting non-magical or status) counterpart defined mainly by the lack of magic, enables Rowling to present and explore various social issues: racial bigotry, social stratification, prejudice, corruption, child welfare, moral questions, misuse of power, civil conflicts, national bias, slavery, terrorism and gender issues. The two coexisting cultures constructed in her novels are reflected in language, customs and values. The complexity of Rowling's work allows her to gradually move towards bigger issues, at first revolving mainly around the main character, Harry Potter, and later involving both, the wizarding and muggle world as a whole. In other words, what starts out as a children's story of childhood changes its course towards a critique of greater social injustices as the characters grow up, a clear bildungsroman in which additional themes are developed apart from the basic struggle between good and evil. Developement of small and medium-sized enterprises in rual area

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na problematiku rozvoje malých a středních podniků ve venkovském prostoru. Podnikání na venkově s sebou nese určitá specifika, kterými se odlišuje od podnikání ve městech. Práce tato specifika podnikání na venkově konkretizuje a objasňuje jejich vliv na podnikání malého venkovského podniku ve středočeské obci Tišice. Součástí práce je analýza vnitřního a vnějšího podnikatelského prostředí vybraného venkovského podniku se zohledněním specifik venkova. Analyzování prostředí v daném oboru podnikání je nezbytným krokem před tvorbou podnikatelského plánu, na který je tato práce zaměřena. Výstupem práce je vlastní návrh podnikatelského plánu rozvoje vybraného venkovského podniku, neboť bylo při konzultaci s vedením podniku zjištěno, že tento strategický dokument podnik postrádá.Development of small and medium-sized entterprises in rural areaDiploma thesis is focused on the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in rural area. Rural business entails certain specific features which set it apart from the business in the cities. The diploma thesis particularizes the specific features of rural businesses and explains their impact on the business of a small rural enterprise in the Central Bohemian village Tišice. The work includes analysis of internal and external business environment of the selected rural enterprise into account the specificities of the rural environment. Analysing of the business environment is a necessary step before the formation of the business plan, to which is the work concentrated. The outcome of the work is the own draft business plan for the development of selected rural enterprise, by reason it was found in consultation with the management, that the company lacks this important strategic document

Feministická Sci-fi Literatura: Mechanické století Cherie Priest Magisterská Práce Petra Nováková Abstrakt Marleen S. Barr, průkopnice feministické kritiky vědeckofantastické literatury, je otevřenou komentátorkou genderové nerovnosti v tomto žánru. Ve svých dílech Feministické fabulaci: Vesmírná / Postmoderní beletrie a v Budoucích ženách: Kritické antologii Barr definuje feministickou science fiction jako metafikci o patriarchální literatuře. Vymezuje se vůči autorům i kritikům, kteří recyklují příběhy limitované patriarchálním pojetím světa, a odmítá se podílet na propagaci literatury, v níž jsou ženy umlčeny či se stanou pouhými módními doplňky mužského hrdiny, které se chovají stereotypně ženským způsobem. Přestože Barr se zaměřuje na sci-fi literaturu orientovanou do budoucnosti a na zkoumání vesmíru, její analýza situace a postavení ženských postav je aplikovatelná i na žánr steampunku. Z tohoto pohledu může být feministická steampunk literatura chápána jako meditace o zavedených genderových normách. Tvorba Cherie Priest je zdárným příkladem inovativního přehodnocení genderových stereotypů, k čemuž Barr vyzývá ve svých kritických esejích. Ve svých románech...Feminist Science Fiction: Cherie Priest's The Clockwork Century Diploma Thesis Petra Nováková Abstract Marleen S. Barr, one of the pioneers of feminist science fiction criticism, is an outspoken commentator on gender inequality in this genre. In Feminist Fabulation: Space/Postmodern Fiction and Future Females: A Critical Anthology, Barr defines feminist science fiction as metafiction about patriarchal fiction. She speaks out against both authors and critics who recycle narratives restricted by a patriarchal view of the world in which women are silenced and/or relegated to the position of an accessory of the male hero, made to behave in a stereotypically feminine manner. While Barr does not include steampunk fiction but focuses on science fiction oriented towards the future and space exploration, her analysis of the female character's plight is nonetheless applicable to the steampunk genre. In this respect, feminist steampunk fiction can be read as a meditation on established gender norms. Cherie Priest's work is a prime example of such an innovative re-examination of gender stereotypes that Barr calls for in her critical work. Botanical survey and successional changes of vegetation in pools after restoration project in wetland near the Cisarska cave, Moravian Karst

Three shallow pools were done during the restoration project in 2012, with a goal to create a suitable habitat for competitively weak wetland species surviving on the long -term drained locality only in a seed bank. After that, the floristic and phytosociological research was done for whole area of the wetland with special attention to pools, where succession of vegetation was continuously monitored on permanent plots. In total, 101 taxa of vascular plants and bryophytes were recorded on the study site (57 of them in the permanent plots in pools), nine recorded plant species are endangered in the Czech Republic. Vegetation of the study site consists predominantly of tall sedges in most wet places, surrounded by abandoned drained wet meadows. Vegetation of oligotrophic water bodies quickly enveloped in dug pools. During our 2-year monitoring, continual successional change of vegetation was found, with the gradual infiltration of species from surrounding vegetation. Strong effect on the vegetation has also the fluctuating water level. We assume that in the long-term perspective, both the hydrological conditions and other restoration activities will be crucial for surviving of competitively weak endangered wetland species on the locality
