    Moduli Stabilization and Supersymmetry Breaking in Deflected Mirage Mediation

    We present a model of supersymmetry breaking in which the contributions from gravity/modulus, anomaly, and gauge mediation are all comparable. We term this scenario "deflected mirage mediation," which is a generalization of the KKLT-motivated mirage mediation scenario to include gauge mediated contributions. These contributions deflect the gaugino mass unification scale and alter the pattern of soft parameters at low energies. In some cases, this results in a gluino LSP and light stops; in other regions of parameter space, the LSP can be a well-tempered neutralino. We demonstrate explicitly that competitive gauge-mediated terms can naturally appear within phenomenological models based on the KKLT setup by addressing the stabilization of the gauge singlet field which is responsible for the masses of the messenger fields. For viable stabilization mechanisms, the relation between the gauge and anomaly contributions is identical in most cases to that of deflected anomaly mediation, despite the presence of the Kahler modulus. Turning to TeV scale phenomenology, we analyze the renormalization group evolution of the supersymmetry breaking terms and the resulting low energy mass spectra.     Determination of Exchange Integrals J_1 and J_2 and Magnetic Surface-Anisotropy Energy in EuS from Standing-Spin-Wave Resonance(Physics)

    The standing-spin-wave absorption spectrum in thin EuS films has been measured in the temperature interval 1.3-4.2 K. The dependence of the magnetization on temperature has been determined from the ferromagnetic-resonance field and compared with spin-wave theory. The results are well described by the exchange-parameter combination (J_1+J_2)/k_B=(0.096±0.003) K. The temperature dependence of the exchange stiffness parameter D(T) has been calculated including the contribution of a nonzero internal field. The experimental results have been analyzed taking the surface boundary conditions into account and correcting for the temperature and field dependence of H_1. The results show that the apparent temperature dependence of D(T) arises almost entirely from the surface-anisotropy energy. The small observed variation ΔD(T)/D_0 has been analyzed yielding J_2/J_1=-0.57±0.05. The results, expressed as J_1/K_B=(0.214±0.026) K, J_2/k_B=-(0.122±0.025) K are in essential agreement with the inelastic-neutron-scattering determination of Passell et al. but in marked disagreement with Swendsen\u27s Green\u27s-function theory and its application to the calculation of the ferromagnetic and paramagnetic Curie temperature.     The Alert Notification System Router (ANSR) software provides satellite operators with notifications of key events through pagers, cell phones, and e-mail. Written in Java, this application is specifically designed to meet the mission-critical standards for mission operations while operating on a variety of hardware environments. ANSR is a software component that runs inside the Mission Operations Center (MOC). It connects to the mission's message bus using the GMSEC [Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) Mission Services Evolution Center (GMSEC)] standard. Other components, such as automation and monitoring components, can use ANSR to send directives to notify users or groups. The ANSR system, in addition to notifying users, can check for message acknowledgements from a user and escalate the notification to another user if there is no acknowledgement. When a firewall prevents ANSR from accessing the Internet directly, proxies can be run on the other side of the wall. These proxies can be configured to access the Internet, notify users, and poll for their responses. Multiple ANSRs can be run in parallel, providing a seamless failover capability in the event that one ANSR system becomes incapacitated
