A study of the supracondylar process of the humerus
Bu çalışma, 3-5 Haziran 1999 tarihlerinde Köstence[Romanya]'de düzenlenen 5. Avrupa Klinik Anatomi Birliği Kongresinde bildiri olarak sunulmuştur.Processus supracondylaris; humerus 'ta epicondylus medialis 'in üzerinde yer alan küçük bir kemik çıkıntıdır. Ender görülen bir anatomik varyasyondur. Potansiyel kırık ve önemli nörovasküler sonuçlar oluşturabilir. Bu çalışmada; Cumhuriyet Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Anatomi Laboratuvarı'nda bulunan yaşı ve cinsiyeti belirsiz 51' i sağ , 63 'ü sol olmak üzere toplam 114 humerus incelendi ve her gruptan birer humerus 'ta processus supracondylaris tespit edildi. Sonuçlar literatürdeki diğer araştırmalarla kararlaştırıldı ve onlarla uyumlu bulundu. The supracondylar process is a smail spur which is localized above the medial epicondyle of the humerus. This is a rarely seen anatomic variation. lt can have potential importance for fracture and also for neurovascular complications. In this study, we investigated 114 humeri which were obtained from our anatomy laboratory. 51 were right, 63 were left and, age and sex were unknown. We observed two processes, one of which was on the right and the other on the left. Findings were compared with the literature and seen in accordance with previous study
Strategic logistics outsourcing in humanitarian supply chain: a fuzzy AHP approach
This research paper investigates an under-researched topic, logistics outsourcing decision issue in the humanitarian supply chain outsourcing environment. Specifically, this research aims to identify the important factors for selecting third-party logistics(3PL) service providers in a humanitarian supply chain. This is based on literature review and interviews from logistics managers in a humanitarian sector which was evaluated with a multiple-criteria decision-making(MCDM) method called the analytical hierarchy process(AHP) under fuzzy environment. Through the use of the AHP, the relative importance of individual criteria was determined. Fuzzy-theory application of the linguistic values handles the vagueness and subjectivity of decisions. The findings of this research offer managerial insight and implication related to the use of a 3PL in the humanitarian supply chain environment to identify the possible optimal providers using a robust MCDM framework
Asymmetric vortex shedding in the wake of an abruptly expanding annular jet
Abstract: In this paper, the structure of the turbulent wake behind the inner tube of a suddenly expanding annular jet flow is studied. The flow field is measured using tomographic particle image velocimetry and analyzed using proper orthogonal decomposition (POD). It was found that both the instantaneous and time-averaged central wakes behind the inner pipe are highly asymmetric despite the axisymmetric structure of the geometry. This asymmetry is the result of a bifurcation at low Reynolds numbers which persists up to the turbulent regime. The asymmetry induces a pair of counter-rotating vortices in the jet which are aligned with the main flow direction. Moreover, the asymmetry also induces a highly dynamical flow field. Analyzing the flow structures using POD shows that the wake oscillates around the asymmetric equilibrium position at a very low Strouhal number in the order of 0.01. On top of this motion, the inner shear layer oscillates with Strouhal numbers in the range of 0.1-0.3. This oscillation causes an asymmetric shedding of vortices of the hairpin type in the inner shear layer. As such, a local asymmetric region of very intensive mixing is induced near the stagnation point.
Visualization of the structure of vortex breakdown in free swirling jet flow
In this paper we investigate the three dimensional flow structures in a free annular swirling jet flow undergoing vortex breakdown. The flow field is analyzed by means of time-resolved Tomographic Particle Image Velocimetry measurements. Both time-averaged and instantaneous flow structures are discussed, including a detailed analysis of the first and second order statistical moments. A Reynolds decomposition of the flow field shows that the time averaged flow is axisymmetric with regions of high anisotropic Reynolds stresses. Two recirculation zones exist with regions of very intensive mixing around them. Despite the axisymmetric nature of the time-averaged flow, a non-axisymmetric structure of the instantaneous flow is revealed, including a central vortex core which breaks up into a double helix. The winding sense of this double helix is opposite to the swirl direction and it is wrapped around the vortex breakdown bubble. The double helix precesses around the central axis of the flow with a precessing frequency corresponding to a Strouhal number of 0.13. To the authors’ knowledge, this structure of vortex breakdown has not been previously reported in the literature to occur for turbulent jet flow and it suggests that the well-known Precessing Vortex Core (PVC) found in swirling jets corresponds to the helical mode of vortex breakdown.Aerodynamic
Clinical findings in cases with 9q deletion encompassing the 9q21.11q21.32 region.
Tuğ E, Ergün MA, Perçin EF. Clinical findings in cases with 9q deletion encompassing the 9q21.11q21.32 region. Turk J Pediatr 2018; 60: 94-98. We report on a case with developmental delay and dysmorphic craniofacial features, and a novel~15.2 Mb interstitial deletion within 9q21.11q21.32 confirmed with array comparative genomic hybridization (aCGH). A twenty-two month old boy with inability to walk without support, absent speech, and attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder was seen in our clinic. His craniofacial examination revealed relative macrocephaly, facial asymmetry, frontal bossing, sparse medial eyebrows, hypertelorism, broad base to nose, smooth philtrum, large mouth, operated cleft lip and wide spaced teeth. The high resolution binding (HRB) chromosome analysis revealed an interstitial deletion 46,XY,del(9)(q21) confirmed by aCGH revealing; 46,XY,der(9)(pter→q21.11::q21.32→qter).arr9q21.11q21.32(71,069,763-86,333,272)X1dn. Genotype-phenotype correlations of sixteen cases with 9q21 deletion having different breakpoints and variable length revealed common characteristic features including severe developmental delay, epilepsy, neuro-behavioural disorders and facial dysmorphism including hypertelorism, smooth philtrum and thin upper lip. The smallest overlapping deleted region in all defined cases to date including our case comprised four genes. Among these deleted genes as in our case, especially RORB is considered to be a strong candidate for neurological phenotype
