    Photoconductivity of Single-crystalline Selenium Nanotubes

Photoconductivity of single-crystalline selenium nanotubes (SCSNT) under a range of illumination intensities of a 633nm laser is carried out with a novel two terminal device arrangement at room temperature. It's found that SCSNT forms Schottky barriers with the W and Au contacts, and the barrier height is a function of the light intensities. In low illumination regime below 1.46x10E-4 muWmum-2, the Au-Se-W hybrid structure exhibits sharp switch on/off behavior, and the turn-on voltages decrease with increasing illuminating intensities. In the high illumination regime above 7x10E-4 muWmum-2, the device exhibits ohmic conductance with a photoconductivity as high as 0.59Ohmcm-1, significantly higher that reported values for carbon and GaN nanotubes. This finding suggests that SCSNT is potentially a good photo-sensor material as well we a very effective solar cell material.Comment: 12pages including 5 figures, submitted to Nanotechnolog

Impulsive control of nonlinear systems with impulse time window and bounded gain error

    Get PDF
In this paper, we establish a new sufficient condition for the stability of impulsive systems with impulse time window and bounded gain error. The proposed result is more general and more applicable than some existing results. Finally, a numerical example is given to show the effectiveness of our result

A robust agorithm for eye detection on gray intensity face without spectacles

    Get PDF
This paper presents a robust eye detection algorithm for gray intensity images. The idea of our method is to combine the respective advantages of two existing techniques, feature based method and template based method, and to overcome their shortcomings. Firstly, after the location of face region is detected, a feature based method will be used to detect two rough regions of both eyes on the face. Then an accurate detection of iris centers will be continued by applying a template based method in these two rough regions. Results of experiments to the faces without spectacles show that the proposed approach is not only robust but also quite efficient.Facultad de Informátic

    Galactic Phylogenetics

Phylogenetics is a widely used concept in evolutionary biology. It is the reconstruction of evolutionary history by building trees that represent branching patterns and sequences. These trees represent shared history, and it is our intention for this approach to be employed in the analysis of Galactic history. In Galactic archaeology the shared environment is the interstellar medium in which stars form and provides the basis for tree-building as a methodological tool. Using elemental abundances of solar-type stars as a proxy for DNA, we built in Jofre et al 2017 such an evolutionary tree to study the chemical evolution of the solar neighbourhood. In this proceeding we summarise these results and discuss future prospects.Comment: Contribution to IAU Symposium No. 334: Rediscovering our Galax

Water Resources Carrying Capacity Forecast of Jining Based on Non-Linear Dynamics Model

AbstractIn order to alleviate the problem of water resources shortage of Jining City, make reasonable use of water resources, and improve the water resources capacity of Jining City, the methods of the water resources capacity are researched. The system dynamics method is choosed to forecast the Water Resources Carrying Capacity (WRCC) of Jining City in the next 20 years. Three plans are taken, and the predicted results are analyzed. It has a certain significance to practice

Mechanical characteristics of twin tunnel underneath construction on existing high-speed railway tunnel

    Get PDF
The running speed of high-speed trains in the tunnel is as high as 350 km, which is very sensitive to the construction disturbance of the new shield tunnel. Therefore, it is of positive significance to study the influence of shield tunneling on existing high-speed railway lines and tunnel structures and control standards. Combined with centrifuge test and three-dimensional numerical simulation, the dynamic response of shield tunnel undercrossing existing high-speed railway tunnel is studied, and the influence of settlement joint and steel pipe pile reinforcement on existing tunnel is analyzed. Studies have shown that the existence of existing tunnels will reduce the surface settlement caused by tunnel excavation, but this shielding effect will be reduced if the influence of construction joints is considered. Therefore, if the construction joint is not considered in the numerical calculation, the ground deformation will be underestimated and the mechanical performance of the existing tunnel structure will be overestimated. In addition, steel pipe piles can effectively control the settlement of existing tunnels
