    The unique antecedents of customer loyalty towards mobile service

    Customer loyalty has been highly sought topic to enable growth and competitiveness enhancement in current market situation. The increase of telecommunication sector in the country had influence mobile service providers competing with each other to become a major service provider. Specifically, there is an issue when the number of mobile cellular subscriptions and penetration rate in Malaysia had declined in the first quarter of 2017 compared to 2016. Customer loyalty is important in increasing profitability and continued survival in competitive market. There are limited studies conducted in Malaysia on customer loyalty towards mobile service providers. This study tries to fill the contextual gap by investigating the effects of independent variables and the mediating effects of satisfaction. Additionally, this study intends to investigate perceived quality, corporate image, perceived value, satisfaction that influence customer loyalty and perceived quality, corporate image, perceived value that influence satisfaction. It also aims to examine the influence of satisfaction as a mediator between perceived quality, corporate image, perceived value and customer loyalty. A total of 531 questionnaires were distributed and 431 questionnaires were obtained and usable. Partial Least Squares 2.0 (PLS) was used to analyze the data. The findings indicate that perceived quality does not influence customer loyalty, whereby corporate image, perceived value and satisfaction influence customer loyalty. Meanwhile, perceived quality, corporate image and perceived value also have strong relationship on satisfaction. Satisfaction also mediates the relationship between perceived quality, corporate image, perceived value and customer loyalty. The outcome of this study can be used by service providers to enhance and improve customer loyalty in the context of mobile service providers. The findings extend researchers’ understanding of predictors that influence customer loyalty in mobile service providers in Malaysia

    The Changing Intention to Practice Healthy Eating Behaviour Among Late Adolescents During Covid-19

    The Covid-19 pandemic has generated intention among late adolescents to practice healthy eating behaviour. Although it is not new, there is limited research on this topic. To date, the pandemic has changed the behaviour of late adolescents to practice healthy eating behaviour. As such, it has tremendously grabbed the attention of scholars amid the Covid-19 pandemic. In addition, the development process from adolescence to late adolescence stage has become a serious healthrelated issue worldwide. However, most research are focused on adolescents instead of late adolescents. Late adolescence is a special group of the population who has specific health concerns. To discover more about healthy eating behaviours among late adolescence aged between 18-24 years in Malaysia, this study aims to examine the 62 Journal of Business Management and Accounting, Vol. 11, Number 2 (July) 2021, pp: 61–72 determinants that contribute to the eating behaviour in this population. Based on past and current literature reviews, a proposed research framework was developed, along with some untested assumptions which were formulated for the research purpose

    The Changeless Core in a Changing Business Environment

    Rapid change in business environment poses threat to business survival. It is crucial to examine the core of business sustainability. This paper proposes changeless factors in response to today’s business environment. Specifically, it addresses (1) the people factor (2) the purpose factor and (3) the principle factor as the pillars through which an organization finds its stability in the sea of business change. This paper demonstrates the unchanged factors to ensure business sustainability and to achieve long term objectives. After mapping the conceptual model, the paper devotes particular attention to conceptualizing the changeless cores of business. This research contributes practical insights for managers to further understand the cores of business sustainability. Specifically, it will assist managers to have clear goals in making decisions and managing change to enhance competitiveness in the business environment

    Fostering organizational commitment among employees continues to be a major challenge among employers, as the level of commitment is generally linked to the level of satisfaction an employee has with their job. The objectives of the present study are to examine the relationship between job stress and the organizational commitment of employees and to determine the moderating influence of job satisfaction on the relationship between job stress and organizational commitment. An empirical quantitative approach using a survey method was utilized, involving 112 employees who work at various palm oil plantations in Malaysia. The sampling method used is convenience sampling, which is based on respondents’ ease of access, geographical proximity, availability and willingness to participate. The data were analyzed using the partial least squares structural equation modelling approach. The result showed that job stress is negatively related to organizational commitment, while job satisfaction does not moderate the relationship between job stress and organizational commitment. These research results provide practical guidelines for management practices in the palm oil industry. The current study promotes the management of palm estate states or smallholder plantations to employ strategies that reduce job stress among the employees, which, in turn, will boost the organizational commitment of the employees to the organization. Suggestions for future research are also elaborated on

    Social and Environmental Sustainability, Workers’ Well-Being, and Affective Organizational Commitment in Palm Oil Industries

    This paper examines the relationship between social and environmental sustainability and workers’ well-being as well as the mediation role of affective organizational commitment for those relationships through social exchange and stakeholder theories. A questionnaire was used to collect data from 112 workers employed in palm oil plantations in Malaysia. Structural equation modeling was then applied to examine the hypotheses. Findings show that social and environmental sustainability positively relates to workers’ well-being. We also found that affective commitment positively mediates social and environmental sustainability relationships with workers’ well-being. Our research findings have practical implications for various stakeholders, such as investors, policymakers, and managers in the palm oil industry. Our results highlight the importance of addressing the well-being of workers and the sustainability factors in palm oil plantations. This study suggests a widened perspective on sustainability factors and well-being which allows professionals to evaluate and enhance sustainability across their operations in a more comprehensive manner

    <p>A, K562 cells were transfected with individual plasmid encoding for DV capsid protein or GFP and stable cell line K562-Capsid and K562-GFP were obtained, respectively. IFA and Western blot were performed on the cell lysate to detect for the expression of capsid-GFP fusion protein (39 kDa) and GFP (27 kDa). The cell nuclei were stained blue with DAPI (i) and actin was used as a control to ensure equal loading of the cell lysate (ii). Cell culture supernatants of the stable cell line were harvested and concentrated to probe for the presence of HMGB1 using Western blot. B, stable cell line K562-Capsid was subjected to EP treatment and 3 days post EP treatment, the cell culture were harvested and concentrated to detect for the presence of HMGB1 using Western blot. The band intensities of HMGB1 of the EP treated cell culture supernatants were measured in relation to the band intensity of untreated control cell culture media (assigned to value of 1). C, siRNA was employed to knockdown PCAF protein in the K562-Capsid cells and cell viability assay was performed to evaluate for cytotoxicity upon siRNA transfection. D, K562-Capisd was transfected with siRNA to knockdown PCAF protein and both cell lysate and cell culture supernatants were collected 72 hrs post-transfection. Western blot was performed on the cell lysate and cell culture supernatants to detect for the PCAF and HMGB1, respectively. The band intensities of PCAF protein from the siRNA-transfected cells were compared in relation to the band intensity of untransfected control cell lysate. Actin was used as a control to ensure equal loading of total protein. The band intensities of HMGB1 of siRNA transfected cell culture media was measured in relation to the band intensity of K562-Capsid cells without siRNA. The percentage of the viable transfected cells was expressed as a percentage to that of the non-transfected cells.
