The choice of transport technology in the presence of exports and FDI
In a set-up with intermediate production, we analyze how a shipper's choice of transport technology, traditional versus modern, interacts with the mode of foreign expansion by an service firm, export versus foreign direct investment (FDI). In terms of the mode of foreign expansion by the service firm, we obtain that: due to trade in intermediate goods, trade and FDI can be complements; the export strategy dominates when the economies of scale at plant level are high and trade costs are low; the FDI strategy is preferable when market size is large and trade costs are intermediate. In what concerns the choice of transport technology by the shipper, we find that: the modern technology tends to be implemented in larger markets; economic integration can encourage the adoption of modern technology vis-à-vis the traditional one; the modern technology adoption is more likely for intermediate levels of transport costs. We then have that modern technology adoption usually occurs under the FDI strategy, since both emerge when trade costs are intermediate and market size is large.Transport Technology, Foreign Direct Investment, Trade, Service Sector, Firm Location.
Do consumers intend to buy more co-created green products than traditionally developed green products?
The globe is currently facing a number of environmental issues that require the rapid
development of ecological technologies. Green product purchases continue to fall short of
market forecasts. One of the causes of this behavior is a lack of trust in corporate environmental
claims.
According to the literature, co-creation is a strategy for increasing consumers' trust and, as a
result, their buying intentions. Additionally, firms that foster co-creation are perceived as being
more customer-centric, which should lead to more favorable attitudes toward consumption.
According to two studies conducted on this research, co-creation of green products increases
consumer trust.
Literature also states that the relevance of political orientation as a moderator between the type
of development (co-creation vs professionals only) and consumer trust is considered significant.
Liberal consumers (with low-power distance) tend to trust more in co-created products, whereas
conservative consumers (with a high-power distance) are more likely to trust products generated
solely by experts.
Despite the above, the effects of co-creation on the green economy have yet to receive much
attention. Therefore, the main goal of this dissertation is to help executives better understand
how co-creation can contribute to increasing consumer trust. Hence, companies should more
commonly use co-creation in the development of green products in order to generate trust and
additional sales. There are also limitations and suggestions for future research.O mundo está atualmente a enfrentar uma série de questões ambientais que exigem o rápido
a confiança do consumidor.
considerada significativa.
Assim, as

From seed to the world : the internationalization of Sugal
The following dissertation chronicles the internationalization of Sugal, one of the biggest
tomato processing companies in the world, and the factors that led to its continued growth and
prosperity in the global market.
Using a case study format, the dissertation describes the current landscape of the tomato
processing industry and situates Sugal in it, explaining how the company grew through a
strong focus on structural investments and development of resources and capabilities, full
integration of its production, efficiency maximization, gradual scaling and seizing of
opportunities in the international market at the best time possible.
Additionally, we look towards the future of the industry and assess how shifting consumer
patterns, emerging new markets and the potential weakening of the Chinese and Californian
industries can impact Sugal. Also presented are the production forecasts for the countries
where the company currently operates in and some new locations that offer great potential for
a possible Sugal expansion down the line.
prosperidade no mercado global.
New housing supply: what do we know and how can we learn more?
This paper reviews the literature on new housing supply. The paper starts by summarizing the results of the empirical studies on housing supply, showing that overall these studies reject the hypothesis of a perfectly elastic housing supply and reveal that housing supply is negatively related with financial costs, inflation and sales delay while showing inconclusive results with respect to the construction costs. In addition, we review a recent branch of the literature on housing supply that uses strategic interaction models. There is evidence that the housing market is not well described by the perfect competition model. Thus, a deeper understanding of housing supply can be achieved by considering theoretical models that take into account the strategic interaction between land developers and by using data where the unit of analysis is the land developer.Housing supply; price elasticity of supply, strategic interaction.
