DIRECT PRODUCT PROFIT: A VIEW FROM THE SUPERMARKET INDUSTRY
Direct Product Profit (DPP) is a decision making tool that helps the food merchandiser by providing a better indication of the profitability of products on the supermarket shelves. Direct Product Profit allocates Direct Product Costs (DPC) to individual products. These DPCs are subtracted from gross margin to derive DPP. The current study sought to increase our understanding of the factors involved in the early vocabulary development of Australian
Indigenous children. Data from the Longitudinal Study of Indigenous Children were available for 573 Indigenous children (291
boys) who spoke English ( = 37.0 months, = 5.4 months, at wave 3). Data were also available for 86 children (51 boys) who
spoke an Indigenous language ( = 37.1 months, = 6.0 months, at wave 3). As hypothesised, higher levels of parent-child
book reading and having more childrenās books in the home were associated with better English vocabulary development. Oral
storytelling in Indigenous language was a significant predictor of the size of childrenās Indigenous vocabular

The AGN population in the AKARI NEP Deep Field
The AKARI North Ecliptic Pole Deep Field is a natural location to accomplish deep extragalactic surveys. It is supported by comprehensive ancillary data extending from radio to X-ray wavelengths, which have been used to classify radio sources as radio-loud and radio-quiet objects and to create a catalogue of Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN). This has been achieved by using a radio-optical classification and colour-colour diagrams rather than the more usual way based on spectroscopy Furthermore, we explore whether this technique can be extended by using a far-Infrared (FIR) colour-colour diagram which has been used to identify 268 high redshift candidates
Adjusting for under-identification of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander births in time series produced from birth records: Using record linkage of survey data and administrative data sources
Background: Statistical time series derived from administrative data sets form key indicators in measuring progress in addressing disadvantage in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations in Australia. However, inconsistencies in the reporting of Indigenous status can cause difficulties in producing reliable indicators. External data sources, such as survey data, provide a means of assessing the consistency of administrative data and may be used to adjust statistics based on administrative data sources. Methods. We used record linkage between a large-scale survey (the Western Australian Aboriginal Child Health Survey), and two administrative data sources (the Western Australia (WA) Register of Births and the WA Midwives Notification System) to compare the degree of consistency in determining Indigenous status of children between the two sources. We then used a logistic regression model predicting probability of consistency between the two sources to estimate the probability of each record on the two administrative data sources being identified as being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander origin in a survey. By summing these probabilities we produced model-adjusted time series of neonatal outcomes for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander births. Results: Compared to survey data, information based only on the two administrative data sources identified substantially fewer Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander births. However, these births were not randomly distributed. Births of children identified as being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander origin in the survey only were more likely to be living in urban areas, in less disadvantaged areas, and to have only one parent who identifies as being of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander origin, particularly the father. They were also more likely to have better health and wellbeing outcomes. Applying an adjustment model based on the linked survey data increased the estimated number of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander births in WA by around 25%, however this increase was accompanied by lower overall proportions of low birth weight and low gestational age babies. Conclusions: Record linkage of survey data to administrative data sets is useful to validate the quality of recording of demographic information in administrative data sources, and such information can be used to adjust for differential identification in administrative data

The Development and Implementation of a Culturally Safe Survey for Measuring Knowledge, Attitudes and Values around FASD and Alcohol Use During Pregnancy in a Remote Australian Aboriginal Community Setting
Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) describes a lifelong neurodevelopmental disability caused by prenatal alcohol exposure that has a devastating impact on individuals, families and communities. The prevalence of FASD is high in some Indigenous communities around the World and the only active case ascertainment prevalence study conducted in Australia found a rate of 19.44 per 100 children in the remote Fitzroy Valley region of Western Australia. Following this study community led FASD prevention activities were implemented under the Marulu (āWorth Nurturingā) Strategy in the Fitzroy Valley.
A Knowledge, Attitudes and Practices survey was designed to assess the impact of the prevention campaign and gather more information about knowledge of the dangers of alcohol use in pregnancy and FASD, local attitudes, and health behaviours both around alcohol and more generally including where residents received their health information. Best practices recommend including local Aboriginal people in the development of surveys and aiming to achieve cultural security. Actions taken included consulting with local health workers during survey development, translation of key sections of the survey into the local Kimberley Kriol, and performing the surveys with the assistance of Aboriginal Community Researchers. The surveys were conducted with 200 community members during August 2015 and 203 in October 2015. Surveys were updated between the first and second waves based on learnings during implementation. Key implementation details around weather and timing, gender/kinship issues, group participation, declining participation, problematic questions and responses to the survey are described. Cultural safety was achieved but further steps could be taken to ensure future cultural security by embedding cultural safety protocols in the survey and further community consultation

The Radio-far Infrared Correlation in the NEP Deep Field
We report the results of a multi-wavelength study in the North Ecliptic Pole (NEP) deep field and examine the far infrared-radio correlation (FIRC) for high and low redshift objects. We have found a correlation between the GMRT data at 610 MHz and the Herschel data at 250Āµm that has been used to define a spectral index. This spectral index shows no evolution against redshift. As a result of the study, we show a radio colour-infrared diagram that can be used as a redshift indicator
Timeline analysis and wavelet multiscale analysis of the AKARI All-Sky Survey at 90 micron
We present a careful analysis of the point source detection limit of the
AKARI All-Sky Survey in the WIDE-S 90 m band near the North Ecliptic Pole
(NEP). Timeline Analysis is used to detect IRAS sources and then a conversion
factor is derived to transform the peak timeline signal to the interpolated 90
m flux of a source. Combined with a robust noise measurement, the point
source flux detection limit at S/N for a single detector row is
Jy which corresponds to a point source detection limit of the
survey of 0.4 Jy.
Wavelet transform offers a multiscale representation of the Time Series Data
(TSD). We calculate the continuous wavelet transform of the TSD and then search
for significant wavelet coefficients considered as potential source detections.
To discriminate real sources from spurious or moving objects, only sources with
confirmation are selected. In our multiscale analysis, IRAS sources selected
above can be identified as the only real sources at the Point Source
Scales. We also investigate the correlation between the non-IRAS sources
detected in Timeline Analysis and cirrus emission using wavelet transform and
contour plots of wavelet power spectrum. It is shown that the non-IRAS sources
are most likely to be caused by excessive noise over a large range of spatial
